I always put my shoes and socks on the same way. I guess I'm somewhat OCD about it! I put my right sock then my left sock on. Then I put my right shoe followed by my left shoe. I just can't do it any other way! Do you have a certain order to putting your shoes and socks on? Anything else you are totally ocd about doing a certain way?

I'm exactly the opposite. I don't like routine and I intentionally do things in a different order so whatever the opposite of OCD is, that's what I am. I even do this with my morning routine and in the shower...although it's not possible to use conditioner before you use the shampoo. Your discussion reminded me of an episode of an old television show called All In The Family. Archie Bunker, the father, was instructing his son-in-law on the "correct" way to put on your socks and shoes. According to Archie, you should put the sock and shoe on one foot first, before starting on the other. That way, if there was an emergency and you had to get out of the house fast, you would at least have one shoe on.

lol! Ha! I guess you are DCO then! I like ARchie's thoughts on preparedness! lol!!It takes too much work to change things up so much. That's like too much energy. It's easier to just find the way that works best and do it. Don't have to think about it too much then!!

I never really thought about the way I put my socks and shoes on. I do know that I have to put on my shirt before I put on my pants. That is just the way that I have done things for years when dressing. Also I turn on my monitor before I turn on the computer. Never the other way around and if someone does it differently, I sort of cringe.

It is so funny how we get in our own personal little ruts! Those routines are irreverable!! Well, we know we really could change them up if we wanted to, or needed to! But why would we want to do that???

No, no, no. You are doing it all wrong. Put on the right sock, then the right shoe, then the left sock, and then the left shoe. It is REQUIRED that you do it in this order. Dire things will happen if you re-arrange things. Street lights will turn red as you approach. You will spill your coffee. Your children will be born naked.

I don't think that is totally OCD. Most people put both socks on and then both shoes on. At least you put your socks on first. LOL. And as far as having to put your right sock/shoe on first and then the left is not that unusual either. If I had to guess you are right handed. Most people do whatever with their dominant side first.

Hi macdingolinger. About ten years ago I noticed I was doing that. I'd favor the right. While that's not bad in and of itself, the Lord brought to my mind I was responding to my old way of thinking before I committed my life to Christ. Before I came to Christ, I was somewhat superstitious and strongly believed in luck. At that time I considered favoring my right side would bring luck. So, since the Lord pointed that out, I purposely started going to the left first. After sometime, a very short time, it did not matter anymore. Now I take whichever foot is handy at the time--or the coldest one.

I am so glad the lord showed you something about your actions! I love it when He does that! I haven't sensed that about my actions. I just do it the same way every time. I don't believe anything is going to "happen" if I do it a different way. I don't believe in luck either! It's just somethng about myself that I noticed and thought was funny!thanx!
