Hey, guys, so whats the deal?

I have recently read MANY discussions that were more like short out takes from an article or something. And they just end. Am I/we? supposed to just know they want whatever we have to say on the subject or what? Do you feel the same way? Is this the new wave of the future? A lack of true communication? I just got sort of used to the lack of Capitolization and puncuation and now this.(I think) Hmmm. Your thoughts.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have seen one poster in particular doing this over and over and i can tell they are just short stories they have copied form somewhere else and put here- sometimes word for word.. I mentioned to them (a couple of times) that this is a place for DISCUSSION. And not only were they not posting stuff to start a discussion (which isn't horrible as some of us just have stories we like to share) But they NEVER respond to any of the responders OR commented on anyone else discussions in general... just started these "discussions" or theirs and that was the extent of their COMMUNITY participation. Some people just don't get it!

My sentiments exactly. It is a waste of our time. I have notested that one of these is formatting their 'discussions' differently now.

I just delete them usually. If they can't format it right then they need to figure out or go elsewhere. Just cutting and pasting afew paragraphs from something is a waste . They need to tell us what they want to discuss, etc. Pretty silly and a waste of my time.

well, I never added this person.. but I somehow keep finding their "discussions" all the time and it annoys me. ugh! it is wasting my time just to read this stuff and discover it's not a real discussion..

I get a lot of those, but I do not consider them to be discussions. I get them at another site as well. I am here to talk and visit, and I will continue to do so.

I am sorry. I am a big offender of this. I attach the article because that is what has sparked my interest. I hope that people read the article and have an opinion. It may be a lazy way, but it is my way!

There is no link on the ones I am talking about. It is just two or three paragraphs and not questions or anything. Just that.

Hi celticeagle! Please report these discussions using the report button to the right of the posts. From what you've said in your original post as well as in your comments it sounds like these are plagiarized. Please remember that just because a post is reported does NOT mean it'll be deleted so if it turns out they are acceptable there will be no harm done. You can even report them with the comment "Alice told me to report these" if you'd like. Thanks!

hi celticeagle I have noticed that too, capitols and punctuation are the least of my concerns as I am often guilty of that myself, but to make a discussion that's more of a story, what is to discuss with this? are we to give our opinion as to how good it is or bad, or what? these leave me puzzled. I thought we were suppose to make a discussion that would actually ask an opinion from others and maybe some helpful suggestions.

Ya, it is as if they don't really care. I thought so too. I hope they read this. Wonder if it will even faze them though.

I have run across some discussions before that just kind of stopped. There are times when I have an idea about what type of response they are looking for but for the most part I have no clue. It would be nice if there was a little leading towards what they want to know.

Ya, really. It is as if they just took afew paragraphs from an article or even out of a encyclopedia and then it just stops. No question of interest or anything. Weird.

I don't know what is going on. I find those types of discussions difficult to reply to. I have been seeing them a lot lately. The only ones I can reply to are ones where links to articals are provided and I can give my opinion on the artical. But other then that I have nothing to say, or feel I could say enough to warant a good response.
