Do you always add sugar or a sugar substitute to certain foods you eat? Or do you sometimes try to drink your coffee, tea or eat your cereal without sugar? Could less sugar be a good thing? What are your thoughts?

Hi artistry, the only thing I add sugar to is bananas, I can only eat them sliced with sugar on. Apart from that I only keep sugar in for baking. I do put honey in my Greek yogurt though.

...Hi there thea, Pleasant surprise, very nice to hear from you again. Love bananas with milk and sugar. I fry them sometimes with a little butter and sugar, tasty. I love honey, don't buy it much, but it is so good and rich. Some things would just not taste like food without sugar, I guess. Cake, as I said before would be as disaster without sugar. Take care, hope everyone is doing okay. Thanks for stopping by.

From my research, sugar is very destructive to our health. So I rarely use it. When I have it, I have it not as a treat, but as a mistreat. We are ruining our health and sugar is a big culprit. If one wants something sweet, stick with fresh fruit, you couldn't do better.

Hi artistry! Well, half the weekend is over and thanks for your wishes and I wish you the same. Yes, we have been conditioned to the sweet or salty or spicy taste, and if it doesn't have one of those than we don't like it. But our tastes can be re-conditioned with effort and persistence. I used to drink soft drinks way too much. Now I almost only drink water and actually find it enjoyable and refreshing and satisfying. Of course, that didn't happen overnight but it can be done. As President Obama encouraged, yes we can! Ciao for now!

...Hi 1hopefulman, I have heard the same thing and as a result, I stopped buying sugar. I am also trying to limit my intake of things which contain sugar and high fructose corn syrup. I love wild cherry Pepsi, which is terrible for your bones, especially women, it has been said. The conditioning of the taste buds is what I have to try to undo. A time where the brain controls what goes into the mouth instead of the tongue, which is a big fight, "o) is needed. Take care, have a good week-end.

...Heyyy 1 "o), Thanks much. If you tell me it's possible, then I am going to go on a mission to get there. I need it for more than one reason. President Obama is an amazing person. I get into verbal bouts with some on this site about him and his teleprompter use and the fact that they think he is incompetant. I say back to them that no one who was President of the Harvard Law Review could be incompetant. And as far as the teleprompter, he went to the Republicans meeting on Friday and spoke and thennnn opened the floor up for questions. First time in history. Not one note, answered all the negative attacks, they weren't questions, mostly lies set up to show him up, if you can carch it somewhere C-span maybe, it's worth watching. Suffice it to say they will nevverrr invite him to a question and answer session again. The man is better than Bill Clinton. Let me go find some water. Take care. Have a good one.

I'm not into sweets so I usually don't add sugar to most stuffs. I don't add it to milk, tea and cereal. But I do add it to coffee and sour fruits. Too much sugar is bad, just enough of it should be OK.

...Hi inutme, You are far ahead, if you are not into sweets, and leave sugar out of your food intake. Adding sugar on a imuited basis I think is a good thing. I don't buy sugar anymore, so I don't have it in the house. But I do still eat sweet goods, which I am finding taste too sweet to me now, as I don't use sugar a lot otherwise. I have sort of gotten used to drinking my tea without sugar, which is really hard, but I am trying. Thanks so much for responding, take care.

hi! Yes, I must put sugar to some things that I eat, because they are not delicious without sugar! some of the things I can't eat without it are- cornflakes with milk, it is not so sweet without the sugar. Cookies are also with sugar and there are no delicious cookies without it!

...Hi there nautilus, The taste of so many things would not work as far as taste goes without some sugar. My shredded wheat with hot milk and butter, and even a little salt, but I must have some sugar to enhance the flavor or I probably would not eat it. As I mentioned in another post, cake or cookies would be tasteless without sugar. Some things just need a bit of the sweet stuff. Take it easy, and thanks for your reply.

There is only one thing that I must add sugar in,that is coffee.I can't bear the bitter taste for black coffee.Other things,I don't mind weather adding sugar or not, but if the sugar is available on the desk,I would like to add,it can make food taste good.

...Hi zhouzhou200004, I find that tea, which I drink instead of coffee, tastes much better because that what the taste buds are looking for. But, I also think that if we start to recondition our taste buds, we may see that our taste will change. It will take a good while, but we, both of us may find that we can drink our coffee and our tea without sugar. Have a good week-end, take care. Thanks for your response.

....Hi TAZNEM, In my opinion you are doing a good thing. There was a report on television a long time ago, which showed a wheelbarrow I believe, with all these five pound bags of sugar, no it was a shopping cart, filled up with bags of sugar. This represented the many bags of sugar that one family would consume in a one year period. Too much sugar for our systems. So good for you. Lately I have found that things taste too sweet for me. I also stopped buying sugar. Thanks for responding, take care.

To me two things in life require sugar if not already added...grapefruit and tea!

...Hi lilyrayne, Sugar definitely enhances the flavor of certain foods. I don't think cake would taste the same without sugar. Neither would a lot of other food stuffs including a drink such as tea. Do me a favor and let me know what you think, take your grapefruit and for one time only, add some salt to it instead of sugar and tell me if you like the taste. I love salt on my grapefruit. It's different, but you may like it. Take care and thanks for your response.
