[warning: this is a rant!] The Duggars (of TLC reality show fame- "18 Kids and Counting...") had baby number 19. I guess the baby was born in December...but are you serious? Enough is enough- I think 19 children is WAY more than enough. I know I can't tell people what to do, but please someone tell this family to be more considerate! The world's population is what? almost 7 BILLION now? The number of people is just way out-numbering the populations of all other living things, and that is just not natural- if we keep going on like this much longer the earth will literally die. If all the Duggar kids go off to follow their parents' footsteps (as most kids do, subconciously or conciously, when they become adults) the population of this family alone will be staggering. Ugh. I am just so frustrated with people like this.

i know what you mean. i refuse to watch this show because who knows how much money they get to appear on TLC. i think it is disgusting that people condone this type of behaviour. they believe that they will have an many children as God allows and do not practise birth control. why couldnt they have adopted?! there are so many kids that need a good home in the world!

EXACTLY! I totally agree with you about the adoption option! I have been pretty much preaching about that whenever this issue about having so many kids comes up while I'm talking to people in person.

So, they should adopt and go against their religious beliefs? Or they should adopt and follow their religious beliefs? Which is it? The father of the family has a good job and they were completely self supporting before they had the show on TLC. These kids appear happy, well cared for, loved and intelligent. I do realize that there are too many children who do not have families of their own but that is no excuse to judge a couple who follow God's law as they and their church's teaches dictate.

wow!!! i only have a child and i am satisfied with him, they have 19 children? this is no longer sounds like normal. guess it sounds more like a collection of children that they got obsessed on having more and more. i think their government need to step in into this. this is insane. i am not frustrated though i think they are crazy just reading this makes me tired har har har

lucky for them. but i dont think that you can divide your time for 19 children. that is only my opinion. there are a lot of children in the US who has attention deficiency and having 19 is more than a handful. for me this still sounds like a collection just like octomom. just my opinion.

Fortunately, this family lives in the U.S. where we're free to decide for ourselves how many children we want to have. This really is a nice, loving family...not two people who are simply collecting children.

I find it frustrating too. At what point do you stop having more children and focus on doing the best job possible raising the ones you have?

I agree. They've transcended to some sort of cult. It's pretty weird. I think they take the whole "God controls how many kids we have" thing way too seriously. If they didn't have the show I wonder if they'd be able to support that many kids.

They were able to support their children before they had the show, and they'd still be able to support them if they didn't have the show. I'm offended by your lack of respect for people's Christian beliefs. They believe (as I do, thank you very much) that they should in no way hinder God in His plan for their lives, which is why they don't use any form of birth control. Why should you care if they have that many children? They're in a stable, loving marriage, their children are quite well-behaved...it disgusts me to know that some people think that the lives of a few stupid animals are more important than human lives, which explains a lot of the reason why these overpopulation alarmists are shrieking hysterically. More human beings will cause the extinction of a minnow or a snail! God has provided for His people up until this point. He will continue to provide no matter how many children families have.

coolcoder, although I respect your Christian beliefs, I wouldn't say that "stupid animals" aren't important. If it weren't for those animals which you call "stupid", there would be no humanity in the first place. Although I do believe in God in some respect, God does not create food out of nothing. A lot of this planet's food comes from animals, directly, or indirectly when it comes to pollenators like bees who distribute the pollen from different plants, ie: our fruits and vegetables. So without those so-called "stupid animals", there would be no humans, and no one left to worship your God. Think of that next time you call an animal stupid, then go eat a cheeseburger (or anything else).

I don't understand why they keep having more children when there oldest is havin or had their grandchild.C'mon it's time to stop, especially the way the world is today.I don't believe they get the lovve and attention they need either, how could they look how many there is. It seems some religious families are very severe.

on the upside,at least they can afford all those kids. i've known a few families like that that can't and continue to have them. my neighbors when i was growing up had 14,and the kids in that house were stacked like cordwood in their rooms.bunk after bunk. nobody needs that many nowadays.i can see doing it in the past due to high mortality rates, but now it's just ridiculous with world over population.

I cannot imagine that those children get all the love and attention that they need. While it's nice that people who truly want children are having them, I think they are going overboard. They say they will stop when God makes it impossible for them to have more but I think God gave us brains so we could use them to plan the best life possible. Having that many children is insane!

These are my thoughts on the Duggar family. First of all, they are self supporting. Secondly, from what I've seen and read, they all work together like a well oiled machine so all of the children seem to be very well adjusted and happy. The older children help with the younger ones and they appear to be closer than most smaller families that I know. Thirdly, the Duggars are following their religious beliefs and no one should judge them for that. They believe that God will dictate the number of children they will have. Lastly, the world is not becoming over populated...in fact, the opposite is true here in the U.S. The Baby Boomer generation was the largest generation of Americans and they are in their 50s and older now. All of the generations that followed had smaller families. Even if this wasn't the case, the Duggar children are not going to be responsible for over populating the world even if all of the children followed in their parents' footsteps.

I don't like hearing this either! The Dugger family are idiots and are making money off TLC everytime another child is born! They say they love children and that God will tell them when to stop! That is bull! They won't stop until mother has something drastic happen to her to prevent her getting pregeant again! The 19th child was born at 25 weeks by c-section because mom had a blodd pressure problem I believe. So the baby had to be taken early just short of baby 18th's 1st birthday! In 2009 their oldest and his wife became parents! You think they will take the same road as mommy and daddy? I wouldn't be surprised! They are probaly getting finacial helpe from TLC also! How the heck can a family afford 19 kids and not be in debt to a point? Thecan't be debt free! I can't see them builing that huge house they built without money help from TLC! No way did they pay for it themselves and for all the furnishing! The Duggar family are a bunch of liars and should be a shamed of themselves! I hope they have to stop having babies soon! This is getting ridiculous and out of hand!

Stop griping--those kids are going to be paying for your Social Security one day. Personally, I'm frustrated by people who have that much of a selfish attitude toward children. Might I suggest an article for you to read? http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jul/27/taking-on-the-overpopulation-myth/ I should add that God did mean it when He told our first parents to "be fruitful and MULTIPLY". Then again, that doesn't mean much to folks with your attitude because God really doesn't mean much to them. I pity all of you.

I think humans don't outnumber all living creatures. Insects are way more numerous than humans because they breed really fast. But I do agree with you that we shouldn't just have as many children as we want. Each child should be given the attention that he or she needs, and I can't see 19 children having enough attention (individually) from their parents.

I cant belive there is a huge family like them. I belive that every people has a freewill of having children as many as they can but I hope that they should control there selves because the population in this world is getting huge and they have no contributions on it. They just make there children;s life miserable. I hope there will be some eye-opener for this parents.

I dont believe that show is inspiring, maybe its a wake up call for everyone that having huge family is not that great anymore, unless of course you have the resources to feed them all for the longesst time.. Its crazy doing things without thinking ahead of what going to happen next.

I hear ya...and as much as I wanted lots of kids of my own I only wanted to birth 6...I wanted to ADOPT 6 - 8....the way I see it is, if this couple REALLY wanted to have THAT MANY children they could have adopted SO MANY NEEDED babies, children and teens out there....AND I ahve to say that a big concern IMO would and SHOULD be - though the gods forbid WHAT IF both parents were to suddenly die?? I realize that some of the kids are obviously older but even so thats one hell of a thing to dump on them ya know...I just feel that its irresponsible to be honest with you..Irresponsible and quite frankly uncompassionate to the needs of so many orphaned kids....Maybe thats harsh but oh well thats how I feel ya kow...

I don't watch the show but I've heard of it. And I agree that it is absolutely ridiculous. There is a limit with EVERYTHING, and this family has definitely crossed theirs.

Wow, I guess she's just going to carry on for as long as she can.. Must be a strong ox of a woman, lol! I read that her daughter-in-law said that she's going to do the same thing and have as many babies as god lets her - so you're right about them following in their parents footsteps. Imagine if all their kids did the same. Yes, it would be absolutely staggering. They'd have a whole town's worth of kids and grandkids before long. One day might be able to start their own country...
