I don't know I think I heard a case where this has happened were somebody died because they over did it with the water. Like you know the lungs got full of water or the water was practically up to his neck on the inside and he couldn't breathe. Who knows though I don't know if this is made up or what. What do you think can you die from drinking to much water?

Yes you can die from excessive amounts of water, it is commonly referred to as water toxicity. The body can only handle a certain amount of fluid before it fills your lungs and ultimately drowns you.

Actually i stand corrected it fills your body and produces pressure on your lungs not allowing you to breathe

I am not sure about this. I shocked after reading this news. I don't know people may die after drinking more water.I never faced a situation like this.

Actually a gallon isn't that much water to drink in a day. After I had my kidney stones remove, my doc told me to drink at least a gallon a day to keep my body flushed out. And that was for days when I wasn't outside sweating all the water out. And now that I've moved to a dry area I need to drink even more or I get dehydrated.

It is actually case to case basis. If you are going to drink 1 galoon of water just one time, there is a big possibility that you will really die. With my own idea, I don't think so that water can affect us.Ib fact, water has a big help in our body.It helps to clean the toxic in our body. It is just a matter of taking the water regularly but not abusely.Water palys a vital role in our life. From time to time we need it,when we are tired, after eating, etc. So with this, i think it is just a matter on how you will take water, if you will take one galoon just in one time, you will really die.I hope this will help.

Aha, water can kill you. Is that why it's better to hydrate with gatorade or any of those electrolyte drinks when you've been physically active. This is really informative. Nice.

Oh yes gatorade does help to restore electro lights. I usually drink it when I have threw up before and it does help. Well better than water in some cases.

Yes definitely. Though our body contains 80% of water, what is excessive is toxic because our body should maintain an equilibrium. Plus factor the proximity of the stomach to the diaphargm.

Well as long as we keep ourselves safe then that is good enough for me.

Yes, you can. It has happened many times in the past. I know it has caused many deaths in marathons in recent years. If you are drinking a lot, make sure to get electrolytes in as well as this will help the body cope with the high water intake.

I guess this all depends on how much water you are talking about. As with anything I suppose you can overdo it and if you drink so much water this may lead to the stomach bursting as a result of being over filled! I guess there has to be a balance, as with anything. Andrew

Hi Anime I don't think one would die drinking much water and it is not possible some one could drink more than what they can. So I think one can die if they drown in water. Have a nice day.

I mean any person with right thinking would not drink that much water, as in like he would drown himself...??? like kill himself slowly and painfully... ??? Actually this is the first time I heard about something like this... What I know is, two to three days without water intake, we would die...

Always remember that too much or too less of something is harmful. Consider to just be in the middle - MODERATION.

You can die from drinking too much water, but I am not sure exactly how it kills you. I also think that the amount of water you would have to drink to kill yourself would be extremely high. I have drank too much water in the past, and have thrown up while out in the heat from it. It is not a good feeling, and I am sure I could stop drinking it well before it actually killed me. LOL

If you drink too much water you can end up in the hospital. It will dilute your electrolytes. I know a lady who ended up in the hospital. It wasn't pretty.
