Are You Excited About Something That's More Than A Year Away?

There's a bit of an age gap between my husband and I'm I'm 28, and he's 63. He'll be 64 in April. There is a Veterans club right next door to our place, and since he was in Viet Nam, we're members Anyway, we discussed it, and when he hits his 65th birthday in April of 2011, I'm going to plan a big party for us, since 65 is a big year in North American culture. Maybe it's big in other parts of the world too. :) Anyway, we're really excited about the whole idea, and are going to have a great time over the next 14 months, planning. Do, so you have any big plans that you're looking forward to, a little over a year in the future? How excited are you? do you wish you could just turn the clock ahead a year? LOL

I am excited about the next generation of pokemon. I want to know if any old pokemon will get new evolutions. I want to know if there will be a porygon3. I wish I could just use a time machine and go to the future and find out right then and there. But sadly I can't, so I am forced to wait. Anyways What is it about your husband that you like? I mean he is old enough to be your father.

Age 65 is big because it's the usual retirement age. What's hubby retiring from? As for me, I have no big plans, now or in the future. I'm not 65, but I tell people who ask that I'm retired. I'm not in the work force, anyway.

In our country 60th birthday is considered to be having some significance and we celebrate that in a great way. In fact just like marriage, they celebrate in a hall, tie sanctified mangalasutram (which is tied by the bride groom to the bride's neck, a small gold work tied to a yellow thread, the tieing of which is considered to be solemnising the marriage). My 60th birthday was celebrated on May 2009 in my daughter's house. We had few close people with us and there was a grand lunch. Children gave me 60 gifts to mark 60th birthday. There were so many items like deodrant, steel vessels etc., hair clips, shoes, slippers, perfume, dresses, petticoats, blouse pieces, creams, shampoos, you call it and it was there in the 60 gifts. The children planned and took pains of buying each one certain items and were calculating how many are yet to be bought. So I am not expecting anything in the coming year but already celebrated in the spent year.

I wish I did. I can't think of anything in the near or far off future that I am particularly excited about. Things are too uncertain with my life to really plan anything in advance or get too excited about the future, but I wish you luck with your party. It sounds like a great idea and a really fun thing to do.

There are a lot of things I would like to get early before time comes especially with my final exams coming up, I have study very hard and that will be a period of 2 months approximately which will take a huge effort and a lot of time and concentration. So I wish if I could just go into the future and pass this time by so that my study time is over. I know that it is being lazy sometimes as getting passed with good grades by studying and giving valuable effort is pleasure that is remembered for long time!!

About the only thing that I plan that far ahead would be vacation, cause it pretty much takes that much time to get everything ready (tickets and such). I'm going to florida for a week in april with some friends, and we started planning in may of last year. My family is also talking about taking a cruise sometime in 2011, but since we don't have an exact date yet, I don't know if that really counts as planning ahead, maybe just wishing ahead.

Let's face it , everyday with you two is a party. Gee I forgot about the age difference. and to think of all those people who think No one his age can relate to someone your age! They are sooooo wrong. hey just because the big 6-5 is next year doesn't mean you can't have a little celebration this year! I better say this now, tell the birthday boy Happy Birthday for me.

Hi danishcanadian!^^ Wow. One year is a long time to be excited and to be planning something. But yeah, I kinda understand that. That's probably a really big celebration. Here, being 65 isn't exactly something to celebrate because it is the age where working people are forced to retire. Sixty is called the voluntary retirement age while 65 is the forced retirement age. But I guess, for people are tired of working all their lives, it would probably be something big to celebrate.^^ I had something like this though last year. But the gap between my excitement and start of planning wasn't really a year, only months. Early last year, probably the first quarter of 2009, I was already excited for our office's Christmas Party.^^ It was because I stumbled upon a song that I though we could use for our Christmas dance presentation.^^;; I was already making dance steps then. I was so excited and I even planned costumes for us. Too bad it didn't push through. We ended up using a different song, different performers and different costumes. .

I have never planned on anything that far ahead! At least you have something to look forward to! I do plan my vacations at least six months ahead but that's about all I do.

I'd love to go to Hawaii, that could be recent or in the near future, not sure but its a goal to obtain. I'd like to have all the stuff in my moms house sell and her house as well. She recently passed away and its one of those things that's going to weigh on my mind until its all settled.

I'm excited about my kids turning 18 and moving out of the house! I've got about 5 or 6 years before the first one is ready. LOL Seriously though, most of the stuff I look forward to is happening before this summer. Right now I'm really looking forward to this weekend. We should have our money on Friday then my mom is taking the kids all day Saturday. I'm going to get my hair done then having a date night with hubby. I'm really looking forward to that break and having a night of fun!

I cannot think of anything to be excited about yet that is that far into the future To be honest though, I find it hard to get excited about anything if it's a particularly long way away.

...and they say age different matters....not in your case... Maybe you are looking forward, but is he? I mean, when you are getting older, you are not looking forward and be happy than you add another year...at least I am not.... HUGS

That sounds fun. What is it that people say? Something like the journey is more important thatn the destination? Either way, I bet you guys have a lot of fun. From your posts on Gather, every day sounds like a special day in your home, and that's good! I guess I'm planning something that I'm looking forward to, but I'd probably rather go to a party! I'll turn 29 on March 1st. So for my 30th birthday I've decided to celebrate big time. So I plan to go skydiving. Tandem skydiving, no way I could I jump just me. I'll be attached to someone who actually knows what they are doing. Anyway, if my doctors find out they'll probably pitch a fit, so I'm not going to mention it. hee hee It's a treat to myself. I feel like I've missed so much with my health problems, so I'm going to go big time when I celebrate the "big" 3-0.

not really I had set a goal for myself to be able to move out of this house around the first of July (if his sister doesn't kick my daughter and me out of here before then) It's not looking good. I knew there was quite the age difference between you too, but didn't realize it was over 30 years. You are happy...both of you...and that's what matters. Marsha

Uhh, I'm excited about seeing all this snow melt and it SEEMS like that's a year away. Does that count? I'm halfway excited about my 40th high school reunion coming up this May. It has been being planned for almost a year. I say I'm halfway excited because I'm also halfway anxious to see everyone after so much time. I doubt I'll recognize anyone, assuming I go. I haven't decided yet. The only other time I've been excited about anything a year in advance was probably when I was 12 and anticipating becoming a teenager. I was VERY excited about turning 13. So, when is your husband's birthday in April? Mine is April 14th. I've met 3 other people born on the same day so I always ask when I hear "April".

Right now, i don't have anything to plan for in advance, like you. But i envy you because you get to plan your hubby's 65th birthday. I am glad that despite the big age gap you guys get along pretty well. It sure is great to plan for a big celebration. A year is not that long to wait, time pass by so quickly, you'll never know, then it is April of 2011 already. Good luck on the planning and i wish you guys a good life.
