myLot search box

I went to search something on myLot's search box. I've used it a few times and it's always great:-) Today I was trying to find consignment shops in this city I go to a lot, and put resale instead and hit the search button. Realizing I typed resale instead of consignment, I corrected the type and hit search again. All I got was a page error, so I backtracked on firefox browser 'go back one page' and tried again, and got the page error again. Have you ever had that happen? Maybe I went about it wrong? Each time I back tracked to try again that flag came up about seeing myLots earnings page. Should I have just deleted the whole page and brought up a new myLot for a new try?! (Enquiring minds want to know so I don't flub again:-)

JoyfulOne, what you were trying to do should work but I see that it doesn't. I tried exactly what you did and got the same result you did - a runtime error. I'll be forwarding this information to our programmers.

Thank you SO much for checking that out! (Ah yes, runtime error...I couldn't remember what the error was I got.) Tnx too for passing it onto the programmers, I didn't know if it was a glitch or just something I was doing wrong. Much appreciated:-) I love myLot...you guys are great!

I'm posting this as a comment here because it seems one of the most logical threads to enter it under. I, too, have had an error page occasionally. For me, it has happened, in each case directly after receiving a reward. On clearing the reward notice and searching again, I get a page headed "Server Error in '/' Application." Backspacing (returning to the previous page) brings up the Reward notice again (but doesn't actually give me a second reward!) While others seem to be able to use Web search successfully, I ALWAYS get 'no results' when searching the web, regardless of what keyword(s) I use. It does work pretty well for things MyLot, however (discussions, photos, blogs, messages).

I have only used the search box on mylot since they upgraded once. SO I am not sure why this would do this, though I think I read somewhere that they would be tracking if people were abusing it, so therefore since you used the same page maybe it caused a glitch with it. Hope you figured it out.

Thanks terri. I'm still not sure why it did that, but from now on I'm going to just delete the original page I did the first search on and bring up a new page with a fresh search bar. Yes, I did read that they were going to do tracking for abuse. That's the part that got me worried because it was definitely an honest flub (and I'm thinking if I flubbed by accident, surely somebody else did, or might, too.) Haha, I sure would hate to be removed! I've been on myLot for many, many years (when there was only a few hundred people), and I love the discussions here:-)

I used it only twice when searching for something, it was working fine for me. I have in the other hand connection error very often when on mylot, but it can be related to Opera browser.

I've not had that specifically happen, but I have searched for a topic, whether to post a discussion myself and not repeat or to look for one before I ask my question and hopefully get the answer sooner instead of waiting for repsonse. Seldom do I get an existing discussion from a search. But then I will post my discussion, and once posted... I scroll down the page and there are several similar topics/discussion already started. Often I look and find what I was looking for but my post has already posted. I wouldn't have posted if these had come up in the serach but they didnt. I don't know why that is. But I can't change it and just do the best I can to not repeat discussions. But..sometimes probably back tracking doesn't work so well.. just start over!

Hi coffeebreak:-) I have that same problem you do with searching for 'discussions already started.' Even though I stick in key words I think would go with it, I hardly ever find a discussion on the subject, yet once posted it shows similar discussions already started. I know too sometimes I've forgotten to change the 'search the web' to search discussions. Yeah, for what I was talking about though, obviously back-tracking doesn't work too well. Thanks for the input!
