Are you doing any Study, Training or Courses this Year?

I just started my first training, or study in many years. I am doing a Tax Agent training course. There are only 8 people in my course and the instructor is very good. The course goes for 3 hours each week, plus three hours homework. My first session today was fairly intense but I feel I have a grasp of my issues so far. We looked at our to fill in a tax assessment form, rebates, claims and lump suns. Are you studying a course at the moment, or planning to this year? What is it? Will it lead to employment or are you studying just for interest?

i have been doing my post-graduate school, it is another 4 years (i am not enrolling for full-time). in a way, it is helping me in my job. but the cost of studying is expensive. i am not studying for interest but my job calls for it.

I can understand you stdying part time. If you have a job as well, it is impossible to fit in all the study hours and get good grades. What is your post graduate going to be in? Expense is a big issue. My daughter will be going to university in two years time and Im saving for that, or she may have to get a student loan.

The dean of the college where I am currently working at, mentioned that our school is offering special education course and it's free for people working there. I think it's a good idea and planning to enlist this week since the start of the class will be next week. It's free so it's pretty awesome. Will surely find ways to be there even if very tired after work hehe.

That is a great idea. Special Education is a field where expertise is always needed. I worked in it a bit myself, although never trained specifically in that area,.

Cool...I hope everything will turn out great. I still have this scary feeling dealing with special people. Scared in a sense that i won't be able to give the assistance they need, yet i won't be able to know unless tried it, right? Perhaps you can continue and have your training there..

Not studying anything yet. I hope to go back to school soon to study to become a phlebotomy technician. It would be just a certificate, but I can use those courses to move further into doing medical assisting or medical lab technician.

Currently I'm studying for an interpretation course which I enrolled in for two weeks. It has 7.5 hours' class everyday and I have extra homework after lectures. It is Ehglish and Chinese Interpretation which I have great interest in and which also is likely to get me a decent job. Language study is very tiring and strenuous actually but it is also very rewarding. It gives me more information about this world and schools of thoughts. I enjoy every minute of it. It is such a delight in listening to profound professionals and experts. Best wishes for you and your daughter and hope you will gain a lot from your training course

I can well believe that English-Chinese interpretation would be a very important and growing field.

It is good to learn something new to upgrade yourself. I have never thought of taking up anything to improve myself. I guess I have not found anything interesting to pursue as yet. But who knows something interesting might come up later and it will open up a lot of chances and choices for me to diversify my interest in life.

I fully agree with you on this. I would not have known that I can be creative and expressive. Mylot has indeed paved the way for me to show that there is more in me than modesty permits in my life. I need to polish the hidden gem to excel in the interesting world of writing.

hi jennybianca no not really although I was thinking of getting some books at the library and trying to teach myself a bit more about my computer so I may be able to trouble shoot small glitches without having to call my son all the time. he he. that course sounds really interesting for someone with a good grasp of math. For me,no way as I am not a bit good at math whatsoever. Its so nice to have a small class like that and a very good instructor, as that would make learning so much easier.I remember when I went back to the U for the last two years to get My degree I made much bettergrades in the small English classes than in the huge ones for some reason. I made straight A's in the s maller classes as opposed to b's and b minuses, so I did come out with a b average when I graduated but I was 56 and that was doing pretty good for me at that age.he he.

There are many forms of learning. Reading books is one of them and to be encouraged. What was your degree in? That is fantastic to get a degree at age 56 years.

Does my "Piano for Dummies" book count? Right now, I'm not studying anything career related.

Sure, learning an instrument is developing yourself. We have a piano that my daughter learnt for a few years. I have often thought of taking up lessons myself.

How do you like it? Is it really working for you, or...? I have a few instruments I'd love to learn to play and usually the Dummies books are pretty good!

I am in an accelerated Bachelors degree course. I have been enrolled now since the end of September. It's an organizational management degree with a focus on human resources. I am already in management where I work but I feel like I need a degree to advance to my full potential. I think that a business degree can be used for several things too. Business management has a lot of options. I focused it so it wouldn't be so broad. I hope to one day start my own business and I think this will really help me.

I know too in my State, that A Bachelor Degree in Management is much sought after. My friends 18 year old daughter just got into that course. It would have a wide variety of uses in many businesses and industries. Good Luck.

It is always good to have a small class and to have a good instructor. You get more personal attention if the class is small. I took a computer class and an accounting class a few years ago. I had a computer at work and I already knew most of the things they went over. It was very basic and boring. The accounting class I just didn't like. I never liked anything to do with Math, but I got a good grade in it anyway. Does your country have an income tax? We do in the US. I have heard that it was supposed to be only temporary. That was 40 or 50 years ago. So much for temporary. When you finish the class will you be an accountant? Here we have Certified Public Accountants that can help you do income taxes, and they do other financial things. Around tax time they only seem to do taxes though. Good Luck on your studies!!

Yes, we have a very similar tax system to the US I belive. I wont be an accountant as such, as they need a degree to be an accountant. I will be a Tax Agent assistant, and there are many vacancies for those, in the tax season. I love maths which is why I chose to do thios course. I need to get 80% or more in the exams and then I have a very good chance of getting a job.

I haven't picked the date yet, but I am really interested in taking a ten day vipassana meditation course. They say its life changing. If you can make it the whole ten days that is. It requires no contact with the outside world, 10 hours of meditation everyday, total silence during the 10 days, and only two meals a day. It may not be an academic course, but what better thing to learn, than to learn about oneself.

A course of study doesnt have to be academic to learn. In nature, learning can be anything that develops the individual or society. I think you are couragoues to do such a demanding course. Good Luck.

Hi jennybianca . I have just been mooved from one sector to another at my actual job. From the Lost & Found to chek-in sector . Seems that besides the sector Ive changed the company ... or bether , my company was absorbed by the Alitalia so the systems are different . The training goes for 5 days , 8 hours a day . Its been the third day today and since now is going quite fine ... So my training is a MUST priority in the recent list , as i must say that there's many optional trainings avaliable ... but I'll stick with this one for now and see how it goes.

I've signed up for the NYIP Professional Certification course last year and I really want to get into it this year and get it finished! It's self-paced over three years, so my slacking off shouldn't harm me too much. I'd love for it to lead to employment in the future, but I'm really doing it for the love of photography. ;) Good luck with your Tax Agent course - what made you decide to take it?

I take daily classes and am studying to receive my certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist. I have been attending for a few months now and like it thus far. Learning the software used in most offices in my area and becoming a specialist in them will help me reach my goal of becoming an consultant..so I am excited to be studying again. I recently tried to volunteer to do taxes and went to one training and was so lost I had to un-volunteer..lol. I admit my weakness and math was never a strenghth for me. I was scared that I amy mess someones taxes up so I decided to stick with what I know. I commend people that have the patience and know how to do taxes. Here in the US tax laws change so often I hear it is quite hard at times to keep up with all the changes. I guess its a good thing that electronic taxes have become extremely popular and the software used makes it easier to complete the taxes.

That would really be good if I just have the money and time to do it. I love studying though and meet new people and learned new stuff but maybe in a few years time I could do it till I have just enough time. Right now I just got to do a bit of reading at home and a lot of self study.

It is a pity that most study courses cost a lot of money, which is just not right. So, yes, read all you can & develop anmd learn that way.
