How good are you at remembering to take your medications?

im usually great about it. i have all my medications in their own pill boxes for each day (1 for morning 1 for afternoon and 1 for night) but today i realized my allergy pill wasnt in my afternoon box. i know how it happened since i was filling my husbands pill box at the same time and its zyrtec otc that we are both on so i must have put it up after i did his pill box. unfortunately this mistake almost ended me in the ER on friday night i dont know for sure but if that was one of the days it wasnt in there it explains my severe asthma attack.. so needless to say i need to be more careful lol! how good are you at remembering any medications or vitamins you are on? do you have them in pill boxes or just in their bottles? (if i left them in their bottles i would prob always forget to take them) and have you accidentally forgot one pill when sorting them all out that came with consequences?

Hey moonlit! I used to put my meds in the daily boxes and then for some reason I stopped! It probably wasn't the best idea either! I do remember most of the time to take my meds since I take them all at night! But, I am actually taking them wrong by doing that. Some of them are supposed to be taken at night and then in the morning, but if I do them that way I am so afraid that I will get all confused and forget to take them so I take them all at once at night even though it isn't exactly correct! But, at least they all get taken!

When I had to take medicine, I was pretty good about remembering to do so. Only becuase it was a pain controller and if I didn't take it I would know about it. But luckily I do not have any meds to take now. What I always feared was remembering to take it on time and then forgetting that I took it so I would take it again. That is when the family insisted on giving me a pill box to put the meds in. I am naturally forgetful but if you asked me I would swear it was all the meds that made me forget. LOL.

For one thing, my husband and I are responsible for our own meds. We are not on that many, but if we had to remember eachother's meds, then we might mix up our own. Why doesn't your hubby fill his own pills box? Just curious, that's all. As for me, I am on pills for heart-burn (one in the morning and one at night), but now because of a urinary tract infection, I am on an antibiotic four times a day. If I get my period anytime soon, I'm on another pill 2-4 times a day (as needed) for menstrual cramps (a very strong prescription version of Alieve). So for now: 2 pills in the morning, 1 at noon, 1 early evening, 2 before bed. I keep my pills in bottles in a row on the bathroom counter, so I know they're mine. Hubby, when he takes pills on occasion, puts them on a different part of the bathroom counter, or on the back of the toilet.

Thank goodness I don't have to take any pills. I really hate taking pills of any kind, even vitamins. I once tried to take a cold medicine & basically chucked it all up. I'd rather suffer 2 - 3 extra days with cold than take a pill for it. But then if it gets too bad, there's always other forms of medication. One of my friend on the other hand... He had a heart attack few years back. If I remember correctly, he takes something like 9 pills a day. And he has to take them for the rest of his life. He takes his medication pill box everywhere he goes.

No, I tend to be very forgetful. If you have several medications to take, I think the best thing is to make up a little schedule and post it in a very visible place, such as your refrigerator. It gets easier to remember when you have to take medication every day, but when it's only sometimes, it's better to have a visual reminder.

yes, I have mine in one of those little boxes with the days of the week on. I have to take the ones that aren't white half an hour before breakfast (& I rarely forget those); another with my evening meal (thats the hardest to remember - I've only been taking that one for about 3 weeks) and then 2 others at bedtime. I used to regularly forget the one I've been taking longest but, the newer one is more important so i have been remembering them. There have been times when I've had to ring my husband from work to ask him to check the box to see if i've taken them - so now i carry it with me.

I am not good at remembering my tablets. I have a tablet to take every night. I forget it msot of the nights. So, I keep it right on bed so that I will see that before I go to bed. I plan to take it soon after my dinner, but I forget it everyday after having dinner, but some how I see it before going to dinner and have it. Sometimes, my husband reminds me to have it.

Well, I have to take two different kinds of medications everydays, one in the mornings and one in the evenings, and to remember to take the one on the mornings is very easy. All I have to do is to leave it over my desk and when I wake up I see it quickly so I will remember to take it. The other one... I tend to forget it, so I decided to set up an alarm in my phone. Since I do that I never forget to take it

Currently I'm not on any medications, but I used to be on and off through my life. And, while I hated to be on them I would remember to take them without fail. And, no I haven't had conquences from faiular to take medications. But, I knew someone who would get so nerodic about it, that she would make herself sick worried about the time and what not and forgetting to take her pills. So that's not good eaither.

For me, I just remember, without any effort on my part. I hate being sick, and I wish I can down the entire bottle medicine so that I can recover faster. Just kidding... Anyway, I hope for a speedy recovery, so I have to discipline myself to take medicine regularly as prescribed.

hi moonlitmagikchild well I used to take my meds by myself but here in Gold crest, a retirement home, I had to hand them all over to the head nurse who doles them out at breakfast and at dinner for me, and all the others of course. I did not like this idea but am used to it now. I give myself my own antihistamines so I can sleep at night. Also I keep over the counter meds in my drawer so I can take ibuprofen if I have a head ache. But I never had any problem taking my meds as I had a one week box and kept it filled and took them each day. those that I had to take twice I kept the pill bottles out by my plate where I ate my dinner. no problem as I was good at taking them.

My husband and I both take medications, and some time ago we decided to buy an extra calender in order to write down whether we already took our medications or not. We did it for a few months, but now we usually forget to use the calender Sometimes I get in doubt, and I start thinking: "Did I already take my pills or not?" I have thought about getting a pillbox, that would probably make things a little easier. I am afraid of talking too many pills, and I don't want to forget my pills either, because I know that it affects me in a negative way. I know that from experience, because I have tried it in the past.

Hi,friend.I also take medicine regularly 3 on the morning time and 3 on the evening.Actually I take three diffrent medicine on the morning 1 pill of eachone. and at the evening i took two from the same medicine name and one with different name. And most confusing thing is that at morning i took one same medicine that i take two pills at the evening time. But i became accustome of it because it became part of my life. One way to remeber it is "you must take it on particular clock time and after geting it you keep it's(Medicine's) wrapper below your bedsheet.Where you are usually sleep. One thing more important is that you must check it before going for sleep.
