I was at CATS today at the adoption center. There is this cat, Bronx, or maybe it's Bandit, we're not quite sure which is which, who has latched onto me. He likes sitting on shoulders and every time I go past his cage, he climbs on up. And when it's time to put him back, he refuses to get off. Today he made a really big show of not getting off. He dug right on in and hung on for dear life. And when I closed the cage and held on to him, he started purring really loudly. I think he's decided to adopt me. Thing is, I'm not feeling quite up to adopting a fourth cat right now. Plus the kids have me under orders to come home with a female if we adopt another one. So I handed him off to somebody else (he didn't go easily) and sneaked out. But boy I felt bad about it. I was halfway tempted to go back for him. Suckah!

Cats don't half show off if they want to be adopted...and they don't do it with everybody either. You have proved this with Bronx or Bandit lol. My cat climbs up onto my shoulder sometimes and I call her Sherpa Tensing when she does it. So cute! Why not adopt Bronx or Bandit AND a female cat? Problem solved..provided he likes other cats though and I do appreciate you already have 3. Decisions, decisions!

It reminds me how my older dog adopted me. She just felt asleep on my shoulder and I went back home with the dog. I would have my heart broken if i wouldn't take her with me. I never regret, she is the smartest dog I ever have. She is also an alfa dog and the pack leader (she thinks that she is responsible for all of us) Do you volunteer at the cats center? I think Bandit or Bronx likes you a lot. You are his master. Cats can feel and recognize people with angelic soul. They also can feel bad people more than dogs do. I would have broken heart if I were you....

I know it's easy for us to say, but cats are quite psychic. They know who they want to be with. I really trust that. If you don't get him, you could be missing out on the cat of your lifetime. Of course, if this would strain your resources, ignore everything I said. I pissed off my son more than once by bringing home a kitten from the shelter. And...those two love him dearly and he loves them, 13-15 years later. It just took a few days or a few weeks. Sometimes for a special soul you just have to bend the rules. ;-)

It's kind of impossible to avoid cat adoption places when you volunteer there. We had four until a few months ago actually, so I guess another wouldn't strain things too much...

Oh, and it is for this very reason I now avoid cat adoption areas like the plague! We have eight. That is enough!

Now you know why I don't go to the shelter/adoption center, UNLESS I'm prepared to take someone home with me. It's just too hard to walk away from some...all. AAWWW, go back and get him... Use your MyLot rewards to buy food :}.

So, did you go back and get him? LOL This remind me of a time I had gone to Wal-Mart and there was a cartload of kittens at the front of the store. They looked just like my last cat. He had Siamese in him and was absolutely gorgeous! Anyway, I couldn't resist holding one. I put the kitten right up under my chin and snuggled with it. Well, when it was time for me to go I tried to put the kitten back in the cart, but he wouldn't let go. I even tried to prey him off, but that didn't work. That kitten was holding on tight! LOL One of the girls that was selling the kittens, at least I think they were selling them, had to help get the kitten off of me. I remember telling myself that I had to go into the store NOW, otherwise I would have taken the kitten home with me for sure. And the last thing I needed was a kitten, especially with the dogs that I have. Unfortunately they don't like cats, so I wouldn't have been doing that kitten any favors if I would have given in and taken him home with me. I was thankful, though also a little sad, when I got back outside and saw that the cartload of kittens had left. I have to say I sure miss having a cat. Though it has gotten easier to resist adopting any that I see... kind of, anyway. LOL Happy mylotting!

I got my two youngest from a pair of girls outside of Wal Mart in Paso Robles They say you can get ANYTHING at Wal Mart! I couldn't resist the pair. Willy was the out going one and was such a love. Khuay was curled up in a corner with his huge blue eyes staring at everything going by. It was a stinking hot day in July and I still had to go grocery shopping. I ended up buying a canvas tote bag to put them in and carried them through the store like they were in my purse. I got a lot of strange looks as Willy hung outside the bag watching everything go by. He even jumped out of the bag and onto the check out conveyor belt to be rung up and bagged.

i just rescued a female cat named bandit...was that cat black and white too? that's sweet though.if i cat makes that much of an extra effort with me,yea, they're leaving with me :)i ended up adopting 2 once when i came only to pick up the one (he was abandoned, the shelter held him for possible claim/lost animal 1 week).. anyway,as i put him in his carrier to come home, another cat reached out from the adjacent cage, grabbed me and gave me the most pitiful pleading "miuw". i guess in that one week they had made friends,so..i was like "yea, him too" LOL the shelter gave me a break on a buddy adoption.

Good to know that you are an animal lover..with a big heart. If only there are people around you wanting a pet, you could have taken him first and then give him away to the person whom wants him..

I was just at the animal shelter on Sunday and there was thid HUGE cat there and he would not tolerate me petting another. He reached out with his paw and was grabbing at me to come to his cage. I am telling you...I almost took him..I have been thinking about him alot. It has been a longtime since I had a cat but I am afraid he would hurt the dogs..lol..they are so small.

Pets need to be welcomed by everyone in the house and in your case your children have clearly told you that they want a female. For sometime both you and Bronx/Bandit will miss each other. But time is a great healer. So till then you can sit in a corner and brood over this beautiful thing called 'cat'!

You don't choose cats, they choose you. He is madly in love with you and trusts you enormously since he will sit on your shoulders. How could you leave such a sweetie behind? I have four cats, plus four more. Three are semi feral cats then there is one feral cat that I tamed. One day he just opened the door and walked in. He doesn't really care for the house and he was very happy to go back outside. Otherwise he is as tame as the inside cats. You gotta adopt that poor baby. I find that bending to scoop the box has really helped the waste line...I've lost one size just from cleaning the litter box... Then too there isn't too much difference between four cats and five cats... I'd have the place full of cats if I could afford to have hundreds!

Aw poor bronx or bandit, he loves you. Lol, he's like take me home please. I promise I'll be the best cat you ever had. My cat Bella was like that, when I took her in from scorching heat in the summer time, but now she has a home for sure. She would cling to me and never let go. She's also scared to go outside, afraid, she'll be alone again.

I don't know how you could have resisted him. I know I wouldn't have been able to! He must want to be with you, so I think you should go back and get him! Your kids may change their minds after they meet him, or you could get him and a female cat. That would make five, but if you were going to have four, what's one more?
