well he must be supervised what games he should play. Some games are really aggressive and as you have mentioned has an ill effect for some children. I never recommend games that is about war like mortal combat, resident evil etc. They do no good to the children. I suggest word games like bookworm, sudoko which is a math game, any game that will polish their skills and teach them knew things like a vocabulary and spelling game.

Anything can be harmful to children if not supervised by a responsible adult. There should be limits on the game time as well as the genre a child should play as this may influence his behavior. Too much exposure to violence in a game where a child is actually enjoying it as a game can instill in him that violence is fun, therefore giving him the WRONG idea. I believe that moderation on games should be practiced. The blame shouldn't be on the technology but rather on the usage of it.

I think he is spending too much time on the games. My son is the same way when he plays his xbox360 and I finally had enough and took it away from him for a while, he is completely different now that he hasn't had it for a while. It is (I think) an addiction and just a way out of reality for some that get addicted to games and the computer.

Internet is good because it is the ultimate source of so many informations, but if it is not use properly, it became a bad influence. Internet should not be allowed to be used by children without adult supervision.

It all depends on how the internet is utilized. It can be used for the good and bad. As for the specific case of your brother, make him play some non violent games such that they help him build his mind power or something that makes him think for the better.

i think internet cna be useful for children if they use for a positive or ven educational way!!So naturally he plays on game and this is good for a kid for funny stuffs!!I think that even if he has many questions about different topics internet cna be an illimited source and he can learn much.... surely as regards kids i think it is good if adult people stay careful about which activity and contents they will reach!!youu know internet is just a mirror of society so some contents are ok and useful for kids but many others really not!!

haha.. i have a little nephew, when he comes home from school, he goes directly to the pc and hits an online game of warcraft. He forgets all about his homework and he wouldn't even eat until his game finished..! haha.. so much for the effect of online games... but because of the online game he is really fond of, he learned how to spell several words since he has to communicate through chat with his playmates (my nephew is just 4 y/o).... i guess without guidance, sure, internet isn't really that safe for kids...

I think there are alot of things harmful in respect to children and I think it depends upon what he is actually playing or doing on the internet..... I know i have my computer set so when my son came to my house there were only certain content he could get on to even with games..... This can happen also with all these X-box and PS games if you do not pay attention to the ratings on these.... That is the reason for the rating system on games, movies, and etc.

Can not say that this is because of internet but we should be careful when children are using internet. Keep a watch as to what are they doing online. Freedom is good but that should not be beyond a limit.

It could be harmful if just let them use it without adult supervision, and all things would be harmful to children if not implied nicely to them, with a parental guidance it can considered helpful and not harmful.. Happy myLotting!

Anything if you use it in wrong way then it is harmful for you...In internet also..if you use it for a wrong purpose then it is not good for you...Talking about children..they give more concentrate on seeing the nasty thing in the internet rather then giving interest in some useful things..

I don't think it's the internet's fault, no. The internet is a really powerful tool, but, like all tools, it can be both good or bad. It depends on how it's used. If a child goes on the internet to play a violent game than chances are they'll get that violence from it, but that's true about any game, internet or not. However, I know plenty of children that play games at sites like PBSkids or something like that that helps them learn and they really enjoy it and they progress in school better because of it and it challenges them and everything. It's easy to blame the internet, yes, but what it comes down to is the user. If your brother is getting angrier after playing a game, perhaps talk to your parents and suggest they find him a new game to play on the internet, one that's a little less violent and perhaps more suited to him? That might help. But don't be so quick to blame the internet.
