My sister took pills to quit smoking. I think she did end up quit smoking but she was on the pills like twice before they worked? I think the first time they made her sick though. It was welbutrin, not sure if the pills you get are the same or if they'll even act the same way.

I think with the pills that i will be given are the ones where as you can smoke for a few days whilst they are getting into your system then you stop smoking.I do not mind what the pills are as long as they stop me from smoking as that way there will be less to worry about health wise.I tried to quit once before and i used those patches and they were rubbish and i was still having a smoke with them on.

My mum aswell as my husband were both on them and they have stopped smoking so they must be some good.My husband had to stop taking his pills after a few days as he was being sick.I think the reason my husband was sick maybe because he was working with smokers and that was why.The reason my mum gave up smoking was she saw her mum die of lung cancer and that made her more determind to quit.

yes, maybe the second hand smoke was making him sick as I've heard it's just as good as lighting one yourself. Well I am glad they both were successful with quitting!

Yeah I tried the patched before myself and no luck. I have tried pills in the past also given by my doctor. I just need to make up my mind again and do it or quit again.

Many says that when you are starting to break a habit you only need 21 days to have it broken. If at any time of that 21 days you broke it there is a big possibility that you will not be able to break your habit but if you can resist temptation within that period the success rate can be permanent already. Hopefully you'll survive that first 21 days of your commitment to stop smoking.

..hi.. that's a good decision.. sometimes, we take advantage of ourselves and never thought of the consequences of the things we're taking in or doing.. like for instance, I have one relative who is a chain smoker.. after how many years, he was diagnosed of having a lung cancer.. only then he realized that smoking isn't good to health.. in the first place, we knew that smoking is bad but we still insist doing it because we think it was okay.. good for you having realized it sooner before you ruin your health.. continue with that.. the promise you made with yourself should be strictly observed.. God bless..

That is the one thing that i am worried about thats the putting on the lbs.My husband stopped smoking over two years ago and he has put on tons of weight and he has now been given some what they call fat pills where they take so much fat out of the food that is consumed.I know that my dr will give me help if i gain weight as i need to stay at the same weight as of the other medication that i am on.

Wish you the best of luck. I hear it's harder to quit smoking than it is to stop Heroin.

Thank you.I know this time round i have to quit as other wise they will not be able to help me at the hospital with my other health problems.I think with the pills they give you to begin with you can smoke for a day or two whilst they are getting into your system then you stop smoking.Last time i only stopped for a few weeks where as this time i want to pack up smoking aswell.

Good for you! I quit smoking many years ago and am so happy I did. Once you are determined, nothing will stop you. Good motivations for quitting: 1) God will be pleased, because you will be cleaner inside and out 2) Your health will be better 3) You are not polluting the air that your family and friends will have to breath 4) You will save money 5) You will smell better I wish you good success. You can do it!

Good to hear that Jugs. Your body of course will benefit from doing this and all the doctors would say the same thing, to stop smoking. About the pills, i have no idea how safe can it be, but anyway as long as it is prescribed by the doctors, then go for it. Hope that you are strong and determined to quit on smoking while there is still time. We cannot benefit good health on smoking. Keep it up friend.

There are many ways to quit smoking and I think it's great that you are getting help doing it. The folks I have known that tried to quit just with nothing didn't make it long. I don't know what pills you are referring to but I know there are some that are supposed to decrease the cravings. Wishing you all the best!! It's so much healthier for you and you'll save money too! Take care!

Hey friend, I'm so glad to know that you want to quit smoking. I've observed many people who tried to stop this bad habit but didn't succeed. So, if you can do it, I'll congratulate you from the bottom of my heart. Have a nice day.

Hello jj. I am sure that you will make it if you intend to. Both my father-in-law and my brother-in-law have already quit smoking for quite some time since they quit it. So I don't think you would have any problem quiting smoking for the good of your health. I wish you successful, jj.

that is good for you, keep the hard effort. Stop seeing other people smoking is also a good way to stop this habit. Because if we see other smoking, there was a possibility to seduce us smoking again.

Hi JJ, I am happy that you expressed the determination to stop. that is the key. no amount of readings and advices that can help you reach the point of quitting. it's YOU! now the support will come in easily because you are convinced and you are firm enough to stop smoking. be proud that you reach that point. congratulations friend! go for it. you have a good start.

Good for you giving up smoking. The only thing I will say is check which medication they are giving you and make sure they explain all the effects of it - there's no such thing as a "side effect" it's alle effects! As someone has mentioned they use Wellbutrin quite often - sometimes they call it Zyban - and that has a list of interesting effects.

I have quit smoking for more than 5 years now. I has been smoking for almost 30 over years. You should stop smoking or even better, don't start. I find that nothing good about smoking (except the feeling of relief in my early years of smoking). First thing you need is the WILL to quit smoking. Secondly, the advice from the professional (hospital). I choose the pad on my body. The first batch was 30 pad with 20mm while second was 15mm and the last batch was 10mm. Now I feel much better without smoking.

I know it's hard to try to stop smoking, and that's why people shouldn't even start smoking in the first place... When you smoke it affects; Danger to yourself, to your family and to random peoples on the street or on the other side of the street. Everyone stop smoking! And NEVER start smoking! Well anyway, good luck with it :D
