Is it so difficult to wash your hands?!?

I do not know about the toilet habits of women. So I cannot really comment there. But the following incident... well, I witnessed it! I was out shopping with my wife the other day. Sometime before lunch, I had to answer the call of nature. So I headed to the toilet. When I entered the toilet, there was another man already at the urinal. As there was only two urinals in the toilet, I took the one beside him and proceeded to do my business. Now, the only reason why I noticed this man was his behavior at the urinal. He was about my age. And all dressed in black, black polo Tee with black pans and black shoes. He carried a black bag and an additional shopping bag which he placed on the ledge above the urinal as he did his business. What made me noticed him was the way he used both hands when he was peeing. I could not see what exactly he was doing, but there was a lot of movements and it made his behavior very suspicious looking. Anyways, I did my business and went to wash up. As I was combing my hair, I could see from the mirror that he just left the toilet after zipping up. No washing of his hands after peeing. My first thoughts was Ewww....! As I left the toilet to go meet my wife, I was thinking, that wasn't an isolated incident. Many times, I encounter people who goes to the toilet to pee, and then they do not wash. And it got me thinking back to the fella who did the "big business" in the office toilet and never washed. How'd I know he did the big business and never wash? Well, I was in the next cube doing the same thing! The sound of toilet paper being pulled out of the roll, the clinking sounds of the belt as you wear your pants... etc (you get the picture). I was washing my hands when he came out of the toilet after flushing. He went straight out the door! Again... Ewww....! Makes you wonder, why is it so difficult to wash up after you go to the loo, doesn't it? I cannot imagine having to work with the guy, who goes to the loo and never washed his hands, having to work on the same computer that he touched, or the documents he handled... yucks! Anyways, back to the guy in the shopping center, I saw him later at the same shop that my wife was at, and he was with a lady companion. I am assuming that is his wife as they were holding hands and walking towards the train station. Again... Ewww....! I had half a mind to go up to the lady and tell her he didn't wash... but then again, it is none of my business. What would you do if you encountered the two situations that I did. Would you call the fella back to wash? Or would you be very wary of the person the next time you meet him?

Well, I don't find difficult to wash my hands but it's true that there are some people who never does that. As you said, it's none of my business, so I would probably not say anything to that person, but I would be wary of touching something that person has touched previously, as I find it dirty.

That is so disgusting but I have to say I'm a female and I have also witnessed females walking out of the ladies room without washing. Its such a horrible and disgusting habit. I just don't understand why they think they don't have to wash their hands. I don't even do this in my home let alone at a work place, mall or airport. Its such poor hygiene. I can't imagine what that wife's hand smelt like and if she even noticed. How gross. I'm actually nausea now. Thanks for sharing.

I would not go and tell the fellow directly to wash hands, I wouldn't be comfortable doing that... But yeah, it is possible to make him feel it through actions or gestures or let him over hear some conversation, about how it is dangerous not to wash hands after using toilet... And it is really dangerous, his hands might be full of germs or things like that, which are harmful to all of us... Jeez! I wonder, why people act so carelessly?

In this situation, I would mind my own business AND stay clear of that person. Some where in life either he wasn't taught the right thing or he chooses to ignore good hygiene. As a employee of our local school system, I encounter children almost every day who don't do this. I send them back to the sink to immediately wash up. Yucky!

ahgong, I think you should not be alarm especially when there was a reported article some time back about a high percentage of tertiary students not washing their hands after their visits to the toilets. Also, just don't be taken aback with what I am about to reveal here with regards to that first incident observation but it is true. Unbeknown to you, all that fiddling that you saw back then, was nothing more than being that individual actually washing his hands with the urinal's flushed out water. Eek, all you want but it is true. And, I just did not know whose idea it was and how this idea or deed actually originated. But, it is disgustingly true! I saw this bloke actually doing it at a food center's public toilet and having his meal after that. Try and stomach that! I am not particularly acceptable with what I have witnessed so far but I can assure you, I just cannot afford and am not going to let these nuts spoil my day for me.

ahgong men are much more careless of good hygeine than women and its also here in the Us too as I watched my own new hubby and started training him a bit in the idea of always watching his hands after doing his business even if his anatomy was vastly different from mine and I was pleased to see he did really follow my gentle teaching.so when we had children they f ollowed our example. my son grew up to be a very hygenic man who would always wash up after doing his business and is still a very clean man. good hygeine is always important. always.

Mnay people do not wash hands as they are not trained to do so. Men especially try to avoid it compared to women. As boys, their mothers would have taught them. Later as they grow into teenagers they forget the good habits they were taught by mothers. Having said tha, not all men are like that.

I don't think I can stand a person who does not wash his/her hands after having done with their washroom affairs. Since the girl companion or wife seems to accommodate him and live with it, I won't want to interfere, less his companion or wife calls me a busybody. I won't want to get any closer to him.

LOL =D IT's not weird to see that happening for sure!! I have encounter such incidents many times before, and yet what can we do?? NOthing!! It's their own personal hygiene, according to themselves.. haha =D We just have to close an eye to it, and pretend we din see it.. BEcause before them, there might be many others doing the same thing too, and 'contaminating' everything they touched with those 'dirty' hands.. lol =D

Ewwwww...I know what you mean. It is terrible to witness a person that hasn't washed. I don't call them back..but I am wary of them if I see them again..hopefully not anywhere where I am ordering food.

Heheh, well it is a matter of sanitary practice I guess. Maybe that macho guy thinks he was macho enough to not wash his hands. Although when you ask is it hard to wash hands , of course not. Well he is old enough already and teaching him how to wash hands will be void only because the skull is already hard. It will be good if he was taught at an early age. Tsk-tsk, that is why we women always have in our bag hand sanitizers, just in case. We don't know if our man washed his hands or not. I always give my hubby hand sanitizer when he goes to the loo.

Well I definitely wouldn't call the guy back to complete this important hygienic procedure. You can't force a man to do something against his own will. I am happy with myself, because I wash hands every time I end my procedures in the bathroom. However, it's quite troubling that some people don't care much about their hygiene, they may contaminate everything they use with their dirty hands!

Very funny but a pertinent point. Yes ur right. Most men have this habit of not washing their hands after peeing. Women are much more hygeinic. Yes its a matter of habit. Most of us are not taught this with any seriousness because nobody knows what happens in the toilet and its nobodys business.Having said this. There is a system of unrine therapy practised in several parts of the world. Urine is not considered poisionous or bad. It is infact drunk directly and is believed to cure diseases. SO men who are no clean have a point to argue. If it can be drunk whats the big issue of not washing hands after peeing

Hello. Funny and pertinent, especially with the recent H1N1 scare. I sometimes see women walk out of bathroom without washing their hands and I think it is so gross. I cough and say, "wash your hands" under my breath. I would be very wary of people not washing their hands--like that Seinfield episode. You owe it to others if you don't care about it yourself.

the guy using the urinal doesn't gross me out when he doesn't wash his hands but a guy leaving after doing what you call the big business or #2 grosses me out. i wash my hands always after using a public restroom. i've heard and seen the effects of mursa up close and personal so I do it for the sake of others.

While I can`t say that I am surprised, I can say YUCK! I personally make certain to wash my hands every time that I go to the washroom. I also make certain to keep a bottle of cleaner in my van just because of all the germs that are out there. I don`t know how someone could do that and not be shamed by their actions. I think that it is sick. And just because you said that you weren`t sure of a women`s habits in the washroom, believe me, for me it includes washing my hands. I don`t know how anyone could not do this. YUCK & YUCK!

Funny, but it's true. You felt so "Ewwwww" becoz you've seen and witnessed those incident. Now,have you ever think, how many guys, people around us never washed their hands after doing their business? Don't you ever think the railings on escalator that we touched, being touched by people who doesn't know hot to washed their hands? How about the money?..(coins or bills) how many hands had ever touched it?more "ewwww" i guess. Anyway, always carry alco gel or any hands sanitizer with you,for we really never knew who's holding or touching things that we're gonna touched too. That's one thing(hand sanitizer)that i always carry with me every where i go. Nice topic here...you made me smile really

Women are guilty of doing the exact same thing. As for that man, based on your discription I highly doubt he was actually using that thing to "pee" as you so politely put it. But, sometimes guys like that are just so... anyway..... If he doesn't wash that's none of my business. germs are everywhere, and, regardless if he did or did not, its still or could be a yuck, factor, touching something someone else touched. But, that's just me.

Unfortunately, Many people are unbelievably lazy that washing their hands is a tough chore. I agree with you that it's pretty disgusting, and I've seen many people doing that before. It almost makes me throw up everytime I see people doing that.
