To prevent people form ingesting substances into their body New York City Cops arrested Cesar Rodriguez and Jose Pena. These two were arrested for having a baggie of coconut candy. These two menaces to society spent five days in jail. I guess these two could have gotten diabetes. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/bronx/two_bronx_men_free_after_drugs_turn_QsGYjXU210b3HP1BMzylWO

I think those guys' ships just came into port! Sounds like it's an open and shut lawsuit to me. I think 99% of cops are good public servants that are underpaid and overworked. But that 1%, like these cops, give the rest of them a bad name.

I defer on the percentages, I do not think there are more bad cops and other public servant than you think. Now just an opinion based on observation though.

Now this is a case of over zelous cops. I thought that they had to test any substance that was thought to be a narcotic within a certain amount of time. Well I guess 5 days is that certain amount of time - Huh??? Didn't these men have the right to go before a magistrate to be given their charges and stuff. And how did one get out after 3 days but the other continue to be held? I see big lawsuits in New York over this. I hope these men get some justice for being wrongfully imprisioned.

The city has a 2 million dollar lawsuit on their hands, all for arresting two guys for a bag of candy.

LOL. And all of this could of been resolved within minutes and none of that come about if the cop had simply followed protocol and done the field test.

So now in addition to 'stupid criminal' jokes going around the internet, there will be stupid cop jokes. Want a chocolate drop little boy?

This does not surprise me. I mean come on..new york outlawed trans fat and salt in resturants. New York has the "food police". Glad I don't live there....they are becoming a nanny state.

I'd like to see the rest of the article...lawsuit pending? Never tried coco candy, but it sounds good (if it doesn't taste like coconut. I don't care for coconut.)

You just knew, didn't you, a lawsuit would be filed? $2M? They'll settle out of court for $200K and $100K. While in a way I don't blame the guys for suing, I'm so sick of lawsuits over every little thing (not to say 5 days in jail is little), but I still get tired of it all.

We must stop this refined sugar epidemic! Thank goodness that these officers got these candy pushers off the streets. A life sentence won't be enough.
