Would you help them?

This is discussion is for everyone but I love to hear from the more senior mylotters. Previously I would not hesitate to help those who need some help especially regarding mylot even though I knew that discussion would be deleted by mylot admin because of guidelines violation. I don't mind if my posts were deleted or my earnings from that posts deducted (even though I did not feel good about it) I just knew that our rating would also affected by this discussion deletion. And after that, I rarely give my response to those type of discussion. Why? I want to protect my rating. Rating is important because it is counted in the earning algorithm. The higher our rating the more our earnings from the same post. My question are:- 1. Do you still help them (the guideline violator). 2. Do you think it is fair? Being punish twice just for giving some help? What do you think about it? Thanks for your response.

Hi Akuler! I know that you are very active in helping those users who post discussions asking questions which are already answered in the FAQs. I know too that it can be very disheartening to offer advice and then lose our posts However as long as I am here, unless myLot tell us to stop offering advice in the discussion area, then I shall continue to do so. When the post is deleted I then type a bit faster elewhere to make up for it What I try to do is to spot the difference bewtween those Lotters who are just posting for the sake of it and those who genuinely have not understood where the answer to their question can be found or what certain things that they have read really mean. Sadly there are many who give misleading information just for the sake of making a post and when that happens then I feel that someone should point out the mistake, regardless of whether we will lose a post or not. MyLot is teamwork and throwing a rope to those who are struggling, but are trying hard, can help us all and we will all benefit later

Hi mysd, You are among the best in this category (I did not said the best because someone else might offended). You never care about anything else when its come to helping others here. Lately I feel not in mood to response to such discussions because I want to look at myself first. I want to be at the blue sky before I do it again. It is hard to raise our rating but it would easily drop just because our discussions are deleted. When I reach the blue star then I might lend my hands again. But until then, nobody knows.

I am one of many but not the best by far. Maybe I am the one with the most patience Deletions donot affect our star rating. The only thing that affects it are other users. Maybe when offering advice they are not always happy with what we tell them, especially when we inform them that their discussion will be deleted I can quite understand where your personal priority lies but I hope you will not abandon the cause completely!

With the new changes at myLot if a discussion is deleted the person will receive a notification explaining why. You should not participate in discussions you know will get deleted because it looks like you do not care about the rules. If you are friends with the person who starts a discussion that is likely to get deleted you can always send them a PM.

Hi Canellita, I am not trying to do something against myLot guidelines. But, just to lend my help to others especially the newbies know the site and how its operate here better. I knew all those things because I was helped by others before and I think it is time to pay back. It would be no problem if they were on my friends list. But, most of those discussions started by someone who just joint and need helps.

I am a little confused as to what the precise question is that you are asking. The impression that I get is that you wish to know if I would respond to a discussion requesting advice even if that discussion breached the Mylot guidelines, so that is what I am responding to. Like yourself I have always been happy to offer any advice or help that I can, but I will not intentionally break the rules here. If someone asks how to avoid the guidelines then I shall simply point out that such behaviour is not advisable and could result in suspension, even though I realise that the discussion will soon be deleted. If someone is blatantly violating the rules then I will offer no assistance at all, since that will only damage the site itself.

Hi Asylum, That is what I ask here. Would you response to the discussions about something that already being told in the guidelines or FAQs. Most of the time I will ignore that kind of discussion but once in the blue moon, I will told them what they need to do. I just post the link and say nothing else. It is not about the money or deletion, I just to to help myself to protect my rating. I knew that we do sometimes feel lazy to look for the answer ourselves, but it would bring harm to the responder then good. Their posts would be deleted and their rating would be dropped.

I think many of us are unaware that there are landmines that we unexpectedly stepped on in the course of responding to discussions here. Any sane person wouldn't want to entrap others by posting discussions that are sure to be deleted. Yes, we do read the guidelines and avoid at all cost going against them but the guidelines are only a faint shadow of the truth. The admin has the final say when and why certain discussions should be deleted. What we perceived as an innocent discussion might not be the same in mylot final judgment. They have the upper-hands to delete any discussions they think is 'inappropriate' to be discussed here in open. I have experienced being slapped with deletions on several occasions even though the discussion has been put in today's digest but due to some 'technical faults' it has to go. Being an old timer here I think I have fully digested the guidelines and wish not to post something that might infringe the guidelines. All I can conclude is mylot is full of mysteries and responding to discussions here is a gamble. You either succeed or fail in your quest to help others in responding to their discussions. It is part of the game we play here, a game full of surprises but can be very thrilling and makes the mind wonder when things doesn't work to our advantage. Even experienced mylotters couldn't differentiate the forbidden and non forbidden discussions as the guidelines are but only the basic guidelines. There are more to it which we don't understand how the iron fists of admin administer them here. I know admin are no saint either, they make mistakes too and has in the past retrieved deleted discussions to be reinstated. It is hard to read their minds and yessing has become much of a necessity here to avoid running into the bad books of Mylot.

Hi zandi, It is okey if the discussion is about something that not clearly stated in the guidelines or FAQs. Just like you said, we make a gamble by responding to the discussion. This discussion might fall in this category. I am also curious whether this is okey or not. But, what concern me more is about some discussion that if the discussion started have a little bit initiative to find the answer, the discussion would not be raised. It is easily can be found in the guidelines and FAQs. The newbies would say that we did not like to supported them because we did not respond to their discussion. But in another side, the senior would think twice before they response to it. Give you response and your response would be deleted and if that the case, your rating would dropped too.

Hi ifa, What I did not understand is they ask the same question that being ask for a thousands of times and it is stated in the guidelines. They should have had an initiative to find it from FAQs or the discussions that previously posted. They can used the search box (and they will get rewards for that). Things about payment, how to earn from here and a questions like that should not be rise because it is stated in mylot guidelines. I really do not mind about the posts deleted or my earnings drop but not my rating. I never reach the blue star and I am almost there now. I may do it again (help them) when my rating is 98 or 99.

Beside to earn some money, i come here to improve my English because English is not my native language, just like you. But I think those who can participate in the discussion should understand the guidelines and FAQs because they use the very easy and simple language. Regarding this discussion, it is my mistake because I did not read all the FAQs regarding this matter. I find one clause and then make my conclusion. Actually our rating would not dropped if our discussions being deleted. It is only our total posts (beside our username) will dropped. I would help them again whenever they need my help.

Hi shibham, That is very good. Never care about anything when its come to helping others. I think myLot need a lot of people like you. And less work for mylot admin and other seniors who always lend their hand to the needy.
