My friend & next door neighbor had surgery this week so i cooked their supper for them. I am trying to diet because i got a pretty bad report from some lab work i had done. It sure was hard to send all that good food over to Kathy's house house & not eat any of it especially the potato salad, lol. She just called to thank me & said it was real good. I laughed & told her i sure hated not to share w/myself. Would u have eaten some of it??

I am a glutton and sure I would have eaten some. That is the problem with me I always think that I must eat while I still have the appetite and don't wait until I am in my hospital bed when my appetite is closed to all foods.

There are some really awesome recipes out there sor some diet foods Jo. It must have been heart wrenching to send that good ole southern cooking over there without even a pinch. My boss at work has been dieting for a while now and she brought a sugar free strawberry cake to work that was awesome. I would have thought that thing was packed full of terrible stuff if she hadn't said it was sugar free. You should research some stuff for your diet. Try drinking white grape juice too. That stuff has been proven to lower colesterol. I must be honest though..I might have taken a pinch of your cooking.

Thanks for responding, Marg. I was so tempted but got to get some of these problems down to a better level. The potato salad tempted me worse than the strawberry cake did.

You betcha I would. I would have to make sure it tasted just right. It might have only been a spoonful, but I would be hard pressed not to try it a little bit. You did good.

I probably would have eaten some of the food. I can't say for sure, as I've never had to stick to a strict diet.

Good morning bon, I didn't write a discussion on my test results, hate to talk about my ailments on here. I assume i don't have diabetes altho my dr. did not ever call me back after he sent the lab reports. That's another discussion. He's on my list & it's not my christmas list, believe me.. Not only was my sugar my cholestrol & triglycirides were way high. potatoes have alot of starch as u know. i'm trying to stay away from anything like that & they are one of my faves along w/any kind of pasta. I did buy some wheat spaghetti at the grocery but haven't tried it yet. I just hope i hold out to being good.. That will be a miracle. Thanks for your response.

I might've saved a tad of it for myself. I don't know. It might depend on what I cooked, lol. I'm glad she liked it. You must be a good cook. Kathy.

That was a really nice thing for you to do. Especially as you put yourself in the position of being tempted by it. I think you should be proud of yourself for not giving in to something that you love so much. I would not have eaten any either. Health is more important than pleasing the taste buds!

I've been cooking since I could see over the stove top. I've been a pro in a restaurant in AK. I know that you don't need to 'taste' everything...after awhile, you 'just' know. Even though your body turns starch into a sugar, diet doesn't mean never...unless you're allergic to whatever it is that you're preparing. After all these years and sugars and starches, I guess I've been blessed... I'm only a pound of weight over for every year I've been on Terra-firma(sp.). Half Century... for you inquisitive folks. lol

I actually think it was great that you were able to cook it and pass it on to your neighbors without having a bite! Your health is imporatant, and you know this, and by cooking these delicious foods, and refraining yourself from eating it, it shows that you have self discipline, and that you want to be a healthier person. I don't think you have to stop eating all of these foods alltogether though. Maybe you can treat yourself once a week?
