Ok, news have been sporadic and sparse on this. but...lucky for you, *I* am on top of things and digging up info you just wont get anywhere else (at least early on). Rewind. Early morning raids and arrests in Michigin today. "At least seven people, including some from Michigan, have been arrested in raids by a FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana as part of an investigation into an Adrian-based Christian militia group, a person familiar with the matter said....." Now for the irony in this. This is an outcast group, shunned by the legitimate unorganized voluteer militia groups of Michigin for their radical views. the group had called on one of the leaders of the South East Michigin Volunteer Militia. They asked for assistance in an attack on muslum groups in the region. What they idiot didn't apparently know is that the Michigan Militia leader he contacted for this assualt....is a practicing Muslum..... EPIC FAIL Well, the Michigan Militia is working with federal authorities in the investigation and 7 racist terrorist idiots are sitting in jail.

Hmmm... the article I read stated that the call for assistance was made after the federal raids started, and that the request regarded those federal raids, not requesting assistance in attacks against Muslims. I don't doubt that they may have spouted lots of anti-Muslim rhetoric, or that they are a religious cult rather than a true militia. But I also noted that the federal warrants are under court seal, so I don't know what precipitated the raids. Maybe there were planned attacks, but no information on that has been released. Maybe I am too suspicious, but I think it's too soon to jump on the FBI bandwagon and declare these raids justified. They may well be, or it may just be the beginning. It would make sense to start with a group that people will clearly denounce if you want to start raids on militias.

The information I got was from members of the Michigin militia. I was also listneing to a radio show with a companion chat a little while ago that confirmed it. I don't know, there's a lot of confusion in this so it's entirely possible some things may not have been acurate, but I citing information i got from them. Who knows, the next few days will tell. I do know for a fadct though that they loudly and deliberatly distanced themselves from the group because of their racist views and their open expresion of a desire to start a civilwar. It's been hard to get alot of information, there has been a near main stream media blackout in comparison with the scope of the raids. It's strange this wasn't all over the big 3 news networs..it was pretty big I guess

Groups like this, ones with racist views and cultish, make it easy for people to dismiss all militias as being extremist groups. But the fact that the mainstream media ISN'T all over this makes no sense. They love it when a group calling itself Christian exhibits some distinctly aberrant behavior. They also love it when any militia gets itself into trouble with the feds. Ignoring this seems very out of character for them. I wonder if and when we will find out exactly what those federal warrants say...

This is on Fox tonight: "Seven people have been arrested for allegedly selling pipe bombs in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, Fox News has learned. The arrests and raids in Michigan and Indianapolis are related to alleged militia activity in the region, but are not related to international terrorism. There is not a current threat to the public, according to a law enforcement source. An official for the FBI's Michigan bureau said initial court appearances are expected in Michigan on Monday."

The media jumps at any chance to pin the labels 'christian, white supremist, racist, or now...since the present administration took office....'militia' to any nut cases that law enforcement stumbles across. I haven't heard anything about this down here where I live, but what I've read here in your discussion brings to mind what I've read about Ruby Ridge and Waco...that is...what the main stream media HASN'T written about Ruby Ridge and Waco is very interesting reading. The media succeeded in making the groups who do not conform into monsters and often times...that is not the case. Like I said, I haven't heard a word about this where I live, perhaps they are nut cases...but I'd hold off on judgement until all the facts are in. Something that won't be forthcoming from the media anytime soon. I find it very difficult to believe the labels pinned on anyone now a days.

Here's what my hometown newspaper printed from AP: 9 in Christian militia conspire to kill lawmen. I don't doubt that what is printed is the truth. What I am concerned with is that the slant they'll put on it will cause legitimate Christian groups and others to be suspect. Have you read anything about the guy who threatened a Senator? I saw it on my yahoo home page...is the whole world going crazy? I hate to think that we will see an increase in violence due to people's fear, but it looks like that is what is happening, what do you think?

Not to mention how they could spin the story! I browsed through one article this morning and they are saying a "Christian" Militia, Hutaree. They also said that this militia called the south east michigan militia and said that the ATF was attacking and they needed help hiding. The southeast militia said no. They gave no indication of why the FBI were there.

the headline isn't even a fraction of the story. I spent the day on and off listening to a few specialized radio broadcasts and in a few forums and chats trying to get information...it was pretty difficultdespite the large scope of the story. I was astounded at the outright media black out on this thing. Somehting this big is usualy huge news.

Good for them! (The South East Michigan Volunteer Militia that is) I love it when wacknuts are taken off the streets. They give legitimate groups a bad name and that's the last thing anyone wants to see happen.

What needs to happen any time a group like this is flushed out, is the genuine constitutional milita's need to get together in a PR coalition and publicly denounce this sort of thing....if the media is willing to listen that is. even if it means they have to go on MSNBC and face the likes of Mathews or Olberman....anything..just keep a very public front going. I understand why they shun a lot of publicity, but they really need it now more than ever.

Racism has been a big problem for the whole world. It's because of it that the holocaust happened because of the views of the racist Hitler. Even in Africa, racism happens among the Africans. Even in the modern world, racism still exists. Let's hope for a change in this matter. We are all people and it doesn't matter what the color of our skin is. We are the world!

In the words of one of the Michigin Militias, as far as he is concerned, there is only one race....the human race.
