Okay, my sister has psoriasis. She is looking for some home rememdies. We looked up some home rememdies last night and the most useful one is the shortening or cooking oil. she takes a shower every day but she also goes to school. She said that she doesnt want to go to school smelling like a fried egg. Are there any other suggestions I can give to her?

As a fully qualified aromatherapist, I can tell you that cooking oil isn't one of my recommendations. ;) If possible could your sister use a carrier oil, such as Grapeseed or Sweet Almond Oil? (Obviously if she has a nut allergy she'll need to stay away from the sweet almond one) If she can find any of those things, I'd recommend adding a drop or two of tea tree oil (if you can get it there) to the carrier. Another thing she could use, but I'm not officially recommending this, would be full-fat milk, but that could end up with cats licking her fingers, she may not want that. :)

I forgot to mention: It is advisable to speak with a doctor, or health professional, before using any of these products. (I have to put that, so no-one sues me)

I would check at bioinnovations.org. They have some great information on all kinds of afflictions. Have you checked webmd.com? It is a very good site for everything. Check it out! I have found all kinds of information on any medical subject. The other is more herbal and natural type things.

Try using virgin coconut oil. It has done wonders to a friend's psoriasis.

mimamar5 I would not bother with home remides but get to 'a dermatologist who will tell you just what will clear up psoriasis and what will not.In fact a lot of so called home remedies may help one person but just cause an allergic reaction in another person.I would go to a trusted dermatologist and get real medical help. I do not believe in messing with home remedies for something as serious as psoriasis.

Coal Tar is the best treatement for psoriasis. It can be found in products such as T-gel shampoo or elta tar. My dad has psoriasis in the palms of his hands to the point that they break open and bleed. This is the only thing he has found that will help. It actually cleared up for a while but then he ran out and did not get any and right back to the old ways. So he is using it again every day.

I have this on my feet and to tell you the truth it is v ery very irritating.most important ly she must never be without a slipper.Dust aggravates this.I have got fed up of visiting skin do ctor after skin doctor for this.Initially, I was given OMEGA3 two tablets on a daily basis.THis may not harm you.Akong with this what the doctor told me was that I soak the feet daily in tepid watr/cold water [never hot water] for 10 minutes , wipe it dry and then apply vaseline. This did work for the time being. Now why shouldn't she try Vaseline? It won't harm her. Second doctor gave me SOME vitamins. She can try coconut oil too.

I don't know of any home remedies, myself. My daddy used to have trouble with psoriasis a lot. My nephew also had a lot of problems with it. My nephew always went to a dermatologist with his. I've always had a problem with ecxema, myself, but not as much I used to. I still have a sensitive skin, though, and I just have to control it. I'm sorry I'm not much help. Kathy.
