So I'm remembering this dermatologist down in LA. I never really hit it off with him. I have a mild case of psoriasis that developed after Dearra was born and I was referred to him. Anyway, once I mentioned to him that I thought it was developing inside my left nostril. Yep, fascinating, huh? Dead skin inside my nose. Anyway, he just totally pooh poohed the idea of it being psoriasis. Well scuse me, if it isn't psoriasis, what the heck else could be causing flaky skin there, huh? So how do you deal with it if somebody pooh poohs something that you're pretty sure about? What if that person is a so-called "expert"? How does it make you feel?

It makes me feel like I'm becoming an expert myself. You know, you can make final decision only when you've heard at least two opinions. This dermatologist maybe isn't as competent as you thought he should be.I think you're right this time, but you need another doctor to solve this.

Maybe so. Far as I'm concerned, it went away and that proved my point to my satisfaction.

When I'm pretty sure and the expert is pretty sure I'm wrong...I go find another expert. If they both agree I'm wrong, I may accept the diagnosis and follow their directions (with a keen eye to proving both wrong). If it works, I was wrong. If it doesn't work, I can get pretty stubborn...

Funny how that psoriasis medication he gave me got rid of that flaky nose skin. lol I never did go back and bring the subject up again though.

It would make me feel irritated. However if I am certain of what I am saying I would seek a second opinion. If both of them say the same thing, than I might be wrong in my self diagnosis. Did your expert give you time to explain yourself for thinking that you have psoriasis? I hope that you have real answers soon.

He knew I had psoriasis. He just didn't believe I had it in my nostril.

shingles? only thing else i can think of like that. but someone who has psoriasis should be more qualified to know what they're looking at. don't get me started on "expert" doctors.i've had it up to here with frivoulous testing on my mom that usually turns out to be exactly what i told them it was(aka, previous condition). they love january when her year to date is refreshed.

I don't expect them to be perfect, they're just people, but I can do without the ones with the attitude...

When an expert say's I'm wrong when I think I'm not then I would tell him to explain to me in detail what could be wrong minus all those scientific jargons and stuff maybe I'll find myself agreeing with him. If I'm not that satisfied with the explanation then I'll go find another one and if he was the same as the first then I'll tell him to explain too... and the process goes on and on and on until I'm satisfied.

I once had a manager assigned to our department for a few months. It was well known in the company that this manager was sort of a boob, and higher management kept throwing him around on departments so as to lessen the damage. When he was assigned to us, he took it upon himself to conduct a training for us. It was totally useless! So, in this case it was us who did the pooh pooh-ing. It was a complete waste of time. And it made us feel very uncomfortable. And I think he didn't feel anything, because he still didn't get it.

Something like that tends to make me feel that it is pointless to continue. I guess there is not much more to say about that.

oh yes I have been there. I hurt my foot exercising and went to the doctor I had then, and he had me go have an x ray.well the x ray did not show anything but the fact Ihad flat feet. but my whole left foot had turned inward, and I was literally walking on the inner side of my foot, painful and also making my shoe not fit. I finally got him to send me to a foot doctor.this man took one look at myfoot, and said, you had a ruptured tendon. Now its gone on too long and we cannot repair it. You are going to have to have special shoes with a brace on your left foot so the foot will be pushed upright. now if you had come to me when this first happened I could have repaired it. oh that quack of a doctor who said Ijust had a sprain. He asked what my primary care doctor had said, and was furious when I told him the doctor said,oh thats just a sprain. noe go out and walk and lose some weight. So for the rest of my life I am doomed to wear this heavy shoe with the brace just so I can walk like the rest of the people, just because that primary doctor pooh poohed me when I said, its more than a sprain.Doctors like that one should be put out to pasture. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Doctors aren't always right, but it just irritates me when they won't even listen to what you're saying. He probably just jumped to a conclusion and if he'd listened to you he might have gotten it right.

If I am not completely comfortable with a doctor, I find another one. It is important to be able to communicate easily with your doctor and your doctor should be willing to listen and explain without talking down to you.

My hubby has psoriasis - but his is on his elbows and legs (poor guy). Seems like when he does some serious exercise and sweating regularly, it helps it as it keeps his circulation going - but it will never totally go away. So inside the nose . . . hmmmm . . . I suppose it's possible! My daughter has really bad eczema. From what I've read (many sources), it's possible that it could be food related. Well, her pediatrician doesn't even consider "my sources" . . . he just shakes his head like no way - and says she'll outgrow it and prescribes her steroidal cream. I hate damn steroidal cream as long time use will thin the skin . . . and though it gets rid of the eczema quickly, the eczema returns with a vengeance. I like the pediatrician, but I hate that he is not open to things that I've read. Once my child had a blistery infection near her finger nail . . . weird greenish color. Now mind you, we are artists, so we know our colors . . . but the same pediatrician looked at us as if we were blind and said "weelllll, looks more purplish to me". What the h*** does it matter what color it was . .. the point was it was weird (and we still know it was GREEN). Time to change pediatricians soon, I think. What do I think of experts pooh pooh-ing? It's crappy (like pooh pooh)!

Mine is on my knees and elbows too as well as under my nails. The naturopath I'm seeing treated the psoriasis with a change in diet (determined what I'm sensitive to and had me avoid those foods) and the psoriasis got better. My mother in law had eczema and some vitamin thing got rid of it for her. Eczema is stress related also, isn't it?

I was avoiding dairy products (and milk protein is in EVERYTHING that's processed) and a few other items. AS for the vitamin, nope, too many years ago and my in-laws didn't remember specifics. Don't suppose you can find a naturopathic doctor in your area? Unfortunately insurance doesn't cover that...

Oh . . . do you know what vitamin it was (we're desperate to try . . . but we know there is no cure for eczema - or psoriasis for that matter). Yah, it is stress related . . . and my daughter is a drama queen so it doesn't help her. Are you avoiding citrus and high fat foods?
