I think, the next country which will become superpowers country are Indonesia ... why? may be you has see news on television and read newspaper/ internet, even though Indonesia does not fight against USA or assist USA in the war in Iraq or in several war at other countries, many bombing incidents in Indonesia and even, allegedly, a lot of leaders of international terrorists who settled in Indonesia .... this the great country, right?

I feel India can surpass all countries at least by the end of 21st century. India has an unsurpassed population of intelligent people and people who believe in hard work. Such a combination is rare to find elsewhere and is the secret for development. Development achieved from such people would be permanent and not wavering like that of other countries.

Well, much of the 20th century it was UK. If US goes into serious decline and Europe unifies economically then I think we will see a very different world. A unified Europe would undoubtedly force US to remove its restrictive trade practices and this would have a number of affects. A rise in European power and a decline in Japan, this would allow developing south asian markets to become more forceful. This might inhibit or aid the development of China and India all the best urban

Thanks for response. i think the powers could be distributed in this century rather than the monopoly of one.

Well, I think this topic is somewhat 'quite hard' to be discussed. Why? Cause nowadays every country is walking to higher level they might go. Yup, it is every country in the world. However, I can still feel that USA is still on the top of the list while European Countries (mainly members of the European Union) sit on the somewhat-same-level. I would agree that many of Asian countries (such as India, China, Indonesia) will one day reign on the top of the world. For me, economics and military and other influence that make some country 'reigning' are very complex and even needs time to consider them.

I would be tempted to consider China or India. Both have rapidly expanding economies, although China does have population issues. The make or break for either will be whether international finance, or manufacturing, will be the dominant factor, since India is fast becoming a global finance centre. Militarily I am sure that China will maintain a lead over India, but, as seen with Russia, a military without proper financial support is far weaker than it's numbers would otherwise indicate.

thanks for the response. i think in short period of time china will surpass the US, before that they will cross Japan and become the economy in Asia. but they dont follow the democracy, so they have to maintain the economy in a different way, as the growth will be completely dependent on government and they have their limits. here India could get the advantage with a big market , huge population, and biggest workable young force.

I think US reign will continue. I am little doubtful if EU can unify to counter US. Yugoslavia collapsed as the Serbs assert their nationalistic agenda; and we also witnessed Czechoslovakia collapsed. French have their patriotic sense working strongly. So I have my doubts for EU becoming superpower. Russia and China are possibilities. India and Brazil seem to have too small a geographical size to become superpower.

You are completely mistaken. India and China are the obvious two nations to controleconomy and technical advancements of the world while Bazil would also not lag behind.

I think that it is actually going to be China that is the superpower of this century. You are right about the powers of the last two centuries and at this point in time, it is difficult to really establish who will be the superpower from the past 10 years plus the next 90 years, but I really believe it could be China because of all of the economy that is moving over there. Besides they also have a huge population as well.

I think India or China can superpowers of the 21st century.. because these countries are developing day by day.. and also developing in technology.. so i think.. they can be next superpowers of the world.. but the present situations is very bad for both countries.. because both countries.. are forced by the problem of terrorism and populations.. after china India is second largest population country in whole world.. and yet not every people get education in India.. so firstly we need to educated every person in our country .. and raise our education ratio.. have a nice day and keep mylotting always..
