For those of you who are posting during the day....

I sometimes sneak onto mylot from work during my breaks or downtime, if I am ever lucky. I see a lot of discussions and responses coming from similar people, and, even when taking into consideration their location and time zone, I wonder how they are posting during the typical business day. I know some people sneak in at work, some are stay at home parents, some are students, etc. For those posting during the day, how are you able to?

I don't work outside the home. I don't keep up with mylot like I would like to though! I generally don't open my email until almost bedtime, which means I end up deleting rather than even seeing what the conversation is.... I'm trying to get better and actually open the notices of those I am connected with here when they post. Marsha

BTW from what I know about you, you do work outside the home, taking care of all your extended family, you just do not get paid for it.

Mylot has become a bit of an obsession for me lately. I end up checking it three times a day or so. And, not via the email alerts. I wade through all my past comments/responses and see who replied to what. And then I voyeur the other discussions and wait for my peak moment to strike. Maybe set a mylot schedule, Marsha? Or set aside a day to play mylot? And, like Gardengerty said - caretaking is a full-time job and very emotionally tugging. It takes a really strong person to do that. Good on you!

Every now and again I let myself entertain the thought of making enough money with my blog or mylot, or similar sites, so that one day, I just may say, "I don't work". One day will come, I tell you, when I lug the ole laptop to the beach and somehow get a signal, and mylot. I am so making a milestone post when that happens.

I am able to post online during the day as I work from home and some of that work requires working online so it is quite easy for me to be distracted by MyLot. It is getting to the stage actually where I need to not have my email open so that I cannot see new discussions and responses being made during my day. I need discipline!!! In my mornings there is a lot of activity here as this is when the USA has their evening. Then not long after that Asia wakes up and comes online so more discussions and responses get made. In the middle of my day and early afternoon, my email account settles down though, until the UK wakes up that is!

OMG - you have it down to a science of time and region. Smart. I need discipline, too. I always set out to limit my mylot time, and then I get that one glimpse of a discussion that just draws me in like a magnet.

I am taking notes! I like mylot better than the average social network, because I can only say "Happy Monday" so many times, or own only so many friends. I find mylot challenging, and I am getting to know people that match my interests, and I will gradually network with them. It's nice, because it doesn't feel as superficial as the others - but that is just my take on it.

I am not really that scientific. I have just been part of online communities for a few years now and have made friends from all over the world. As I am online a lot during the day, I started to notice patterns in when certain people from different time zones come online. I have also noticed that online activity is always down during the middle of the week. It seems to pick up Friday and be busy over the weekend and through to Tuesday and then Wednesday and Thursday are quieter.

I am one of those people that spends a fair amount of time during the day posting on here. I am able to do so because of the fact that I am a stay at home mother. I use mylot during the day as my way of getting adult conversation in. Let me tell you, the day can really drag by when you are at home alone with a three year old. I've also found that I'm not able to post nearly as much during the day when my seven year old is not at school.

That is an awesome answer - adult conversation (stay out of the politics threads - we get catty over there). I am glad you get to stay at home with your toddler; a lot of mommies and daddies must envy you.

I mylot while my kids are in school. Sometimes I get home an hour or two before I pick them up from school and I'll mylot. I clean houses for a living so there's no mylotting at work for me. Maybe some have those new phones that can go online, have you seen them yet? My sis has one-a droid she calls it..crazy thing! Expensive too!

Do either of you refer any of your dorm-mates? I encourage you to keep posting, judging on it, it looks like you are relatively new, or have not made that many posts yet. It is fun, and can be educational. Even if it points you in the direction of something to research.

I had a high intensity job that was causing me a lot of distress. So we paid off a couple of bills and when I had foot surgery in January, I also gave notice. I went on terminal leave, so to speak. It was a blessing to do so at that time for several reasons. However, that does explain how I come to be on MyLot anywhere from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. I may get the "not working for a living" anxiety in a few months and go job hunting, or I may continue to be content with a little tiny bit of part time work, and some online earnings.

I think that would be really cool - working a part time job, and supplementing it with online earnings. It breaks away from the monotony of a full-time job, and lets you try to build a good foundation in the online projects.

i am self employed. I do about 80% of my work on my computer. So when I am waiting for somebody to answer their phone, or stuck in hold hell, I can scan through. Also in between, if I am eating lunch, I am a multi tasker and need to have multiple things to do at once.

wow total quiet? where do I sign up? I get an average of 15 minutes of "alone" time per day, this is usually in the bathroom. I always have multiple screens open. and I keep headphones in and blast some classic music after I watch news.

We should make a thread about clever ways to lure the family members out of the house for a while. Like, "Honey, I need a barbequed pickle. Go get me one." Or, maybe that is just me?

Pretty groovey. I can play in the lighter topics and multi-task, like those asking what I ate for dessert that day. But, for the heavier threads, I have to have complete silence, and a few windows up while I get sources and links, etc. So, I normally can't do the politics/religion threads during my normal puter time. I do it on my alone time. The time I am supposed to be watch NCIS marathons, but somehow, I hear a little "mylot" calling at me from my desk. And, there I go.

Well I'm a stay at home mom so I can post pretty much anytime when I have a moment or two. I know if I was working then I wouldn't be able to at all since there would always be someone who could catch me.

I dont have a job that lets me play on the computer during work hours. Whenever I get to post during the day, it is when I'm working a closing shift and don't have to be at work until 2pm. That happens on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Thursdays I'm off work and can get on. Any other day I won't be on and posting until after 5 when I get off work.

That's pretty cool. Do you like when your schedule vollies so much like that? I used to wait tables, and work an office job, so I had to take the closing shift no matter what, so I could do my day job.

Lol good topic. I pretty much have no schedule I'm a freelancer with a laptop. I'm just waiting on my portable internet device thingy then off I will go to my next adventure! That's how I get into MyLot most times of the day. I never really have a set time. But it does get addictive. I imagine if I were enclosed in an office space all day and it's an off day with no real work involved I'd probably spend most of the 9 hours asking and answering silly and serious questions. :) Kinda makes me miss office life, it's kind of a rush when it's not allowed. So I'd probably be a lot more productive here if I were in an office or something. Fudge the boss, right? Know what I'm sayin'? ;) Anyway, since I discovered it, this has been my go-to site it's pretty fun and it earns you money too. :) Good discussion ladybugmagic! +!

ladybugmagic well for one thing mylot is for all ages so quess what a lotof us are no longer working so we are able to post whenever we want too, yes if you read my profile you will see Iam really am 83 and so what. I do post during the daytime as I love mylot and enjoy posting on here. why is there some objection? I am sure that my lot is open to people of all ages and we have a right to post whenever we want to as long as we break no mylot rules. so yes as long as I have a computer and monitor and am still alive and kicking I can post anytime i feel like it. So no I am not sneaking at work and my son is fifty now. I am retired and live for now in Gold Crest a retirement center, not a nursing home, a retirement center, big, big difference. of course here because I have a roommate I cannot post as late at night as I did when in our own apartment. good luck happy mylotting.

I can post in mylot even at work. I just wait for everybody to take their breaks outside the office and I simply log-in at my mylot account. It is just a matter of minimizing your browser at a speed where no one will notice you.

Guilty here. I sometimes have the boss's approval if some epic political thing or natural disaster occurred. But, I have so much work to do, that I must say good bye to break time, and hello to mylot saturday.

I worked two jobs at any given time up until two years ago. I used to do the graveyard shift and a night shift, and attempt to sleep during the day. I am glad I have the day shift now, but it is still long hours, making the mylotting stay on the back burner. I am supposed to be posting a billion posts, and getting a trillion referrals, but, for some reason, I end up posting like ten a week.
