MyLot Notifications, how deep to you feel they should go?

The last couple of days, I have been "resolving" discussion topics. Going back and choosing the best responses for discussions I have made, even up to a year ago. I noticed as I was doing this, that many of my discussions, had multiple responses that I had no idea was there. After I commented back to a response. I have noticed that MyLot, will send you some of these notifications, and not others. Do you think, the system should send you all of them to your email? What kind of system do you have in place to make sure you don't miss a single response, to any of your posts? With Appreciation.

I don't know how much I can handle! But still I would like to get notifiers for all the activities in my discussion. Except for min, of course! About the commenting on your response, I think we get notifiers for only the OP's comments. It made me wonder recently.

Yes, only for the Other Persons comments, and take the example above, mydaisait, she commented, and I got a notifyer, and I commented, and she commented again, and I did not get the notifyer. That is what is frustrating, if it was not for you commenting, I would have had to check at a later date, I am adopting her system. With Appreciation.

For me, I have opted to get emails when I get responses to my discussions & also when my friends start discussions. As far as I am aware, I get the majority of the emails however, I don't get a notification email if someone comments on someone else's comment in my discussion, the only way I know it's there is if I visit the discussion. I think we should get notifications for this too as it's our discussion!!

I see, so I am not the only one that feels this should be a bit more involved, excellent, thank you for stopping by friend. With Appreciation.

I just keep checking back to my posts to see what is going on. I have several unresolved at this moment. Notifications seem to be a bit spotty now a days. I thought mine were fixed but I find that they are not.

Great plan as well. I think I do not trust them, and with out them, I fear I would forget to check. With Appreciation.

I have all my notifers set to 'on' but of course they don't inform of comments on comments. If the discussion is recent then I keep the tab open and I am aware that there are more being added. Once it is older I check my 'started' discussions tab daily and the one at the top is the one with most recent activity and it shows the name of the user who responded last. If that name is not mine then I get back and see what has been added. I do the same with the discusions where I respond too and I check the other responses where I left a comment and often find more where I can leave one too. I too would like to receive notifiers for everything that others comment on, even though it would be a lot of notifiers some days

Yeah, it would be a lot of notifications, and thank you for sharing your system. It really does make sense. I just thought they would keep sending me notifications, I do a little bit of this and that, and I noticed people were asking for more information, and I didn't even know it, and that was weeks or months ago. I felt bad, like I was ignoring them, and I guess in a way I was. With Appreciation.

It is a huge responsability when we atart a topic and we hope that it will turn into a quality dicussion. It is not an easy task to follow through (and those who post multiple topics daily could not possibly complete the task that they set upon themselves). It is never too late to comment on those comments that you find later. I still have a couple of discussions that for personal reasons I stopped commenting on but I will get back to them eventually. When you leave a comment at a later date your discussion will be revived and seen again in all the different lists ('similar topics' to the right for example and 'recent') and you risk receiving even more responses.

hi diana I learned finally that its best not to make a discussion every day so you do not have time to go back and comment on each response. I love to see comments on my comments as that sort of makes my day as the discussion must have been good enough for people to want to add to it and keep it alive. I love that.

Yes, I think the system should send all of them to your email. Sometimes I forget to check to see if I got any more responses or comments to my discussions. Or, maybe I didn't know I got any more responses or comments and I don't see them until I go to choose best responses. I don't have any kind of system that I know of. What kind of system can I set up? Kathy.

Well, personally, I am going to go with Mysaidait's suggestion, and just check my started discussions each day, to make sure that I was the last person that posted.. With Appreciation.

Yikes, I spelled the name wrong, anyways, I already forget the right spelling. Shh, don't tell. I am going to have to have it memorized by the morrow, they are always so helpful with mylotting stuff. With Appreciation.

I think she has a good suggestion and I just might do the same thing. Don't worry, lol. I won't tell about you misspelling her name. I'm sure she will understand. We all make mistakes. Happy mylotting! Kathy.

My personal technique has nothing at all to do with the notifications that I get through my email. What I do, instead is once a day I will go to my started tab. Then I will look at all the responses and the comments that I have left. Then I will respond to those comments that needed my initial comment and I will also leave additional feedback where it is warranted from the other comments that I had responded to already. To me this ensures that nothing is missed that needs to be responded to.

Makes sense to me dear, what about reponses you make on other peoples discussions? I know you will get a notice for this post, and I don't always seem to get a notice after the third or so post. I think, I am beginning to formulate a good plan though. With Appreciation.

hi cjscott well I would like to get more notifications of my friends respones and discussions but still if they sent all 600 , oh of course that would not probably happen anyway as I do not really know how many on my mylot friends are really actively participating all the time, but I find I am getting maybe about half of the ones I can look up in friends started so I dont know really. so I work from my thunderbird email and also from the tab friends started too, so I do not miss all that many that way.

I have some friends, even though I've turned their notifications on, I still don't recieve an e-mail when they start a discussion. I wish Mylot would also notify you when someone else comments on a response you've commented on... such as when someone replies to your discussion and you comment on it.. Mylot won't notify you for that... at least I don't think they do, unless there's a way to turn that on that I don't know about.

This is exactly what cited me to start the conversation. I have notifiers on for every single one of my friends. Sometimes, I go back and check discussions, you know to choose BR, and things like that, and that is when I realize that, oh my gosh, that new reply would have been so valuable, yet the reply is months old. With Appreciation.
