Do your kids have an odd favorite food?

When you ask most kids what's their favorite food they'll probably say pizza, french fries, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter.. etc. etc. Well if you ask my 13 year old what's his favorite food, he'll say onions. He has loved onions since he was about 4. I do remember how it started too.. it was while I was pregnant for the twins, and one of the things I used to love to eat at the time was the garden salads from Olive Garden. They came with raw red onions on them. My son would share some of my salad, and began to love onions. He will eat any onion raw.. even your typical little yellow onions, which are so potent when they're raw. I remember one time we went to an all you can eat place and there was a dish called cowboy potatoes. I told him he should try it. He seemed reluctant. I said there's onions in it. He ran up and grabbed a huge plate full! At one point my son hated beans, of any kind. I like baked beans, I tend to serve them everytime we have hot dogs.. but my kids would not eat them. So one time I grabbed a can of Bush's baked beans with onions! Now all my kids will eat their beans, and actually enjoy them.. and the best part is I don't even have to get the onion ones anymore, because I prefer the maple or the honey flavored beans. Do any of your kids have an odd favorite food?

I don't know if this is considered odd, but out of all the veggies my daughter may refuse to eat, she will eat artichokes. When I first gave it to her, I didn't think she'd eat it - but she ate a lot of it (no fancy cutting - she ate it like we did). Just goes to show you you never know what kids will eat . . . so always offer things to them - particularly if they are healthy!!

Thanks for BR, katsmeow1213! We just had artichokes the other night - ha ha! And about offering foods to kids . . . my daughter wouldn't eat fish for the longest time, and now she is liking salmon! She has also started liking taco sauce - that's a new one as she is not into "spicy" foods. This weekend I was surprised to learn that she's eat raspberries now . . . she used to spit them out!

Hiya kats. It's funny you asked this because my youngest son does! He loves peppers, particularly pepperchinies. His love for peppers basically started after my husband and I wanted him to be able to partake in take out food. He was always missing out as he has a sensitive tummy. So one day, after buying some sandwiches for lunch, my husband decided to give the peppers that came with it to our son. And to our amazement he liked them! I thought it was a fluke so I gave him the ones off of my sandwich and he ate those too! Knowing how much he enjoys them I always make sure to get extra pepperchines whenever I get the chance. My youngest also likes onions as well. Onions and peppers. What a mix! LOL His love for them must come from his daddy because his momma never really did care for them. LOL Happy mylotting!

i dont think that my son has an odd favorite food, as i know. my wife is the one who is odd when it comes to food har har har. she is not picky and she eats and try to taste anything and everything she sees on market. but she does not force us to eat it. if we think it smelled good then we will give it a try, but sometimes it is just so weird for me. so far my son only eats food that are okay foods for me. har har har. i am shocked that your kids eats onion, i am an adult and i dont like eating onions.

Nope, typical kid stuff, mac and cheese, pasta, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, sloppy joes...

I won't go so far as to say that either of my children have an odd favorite food, but I know that there are some very odd things that they enjoy eating. My daughter has been on a kick lately that she has been wanting to have sushi for dinner (she went to the buffet with our neighbor a couple months ago and since then has been asking for sushi). Then both of my children love to eat soup beans and cornbread for dinner, they both used to hate it, but now they ask for it from time to time.

My teenaged son likes to eat cheese sandwiches all of the time. If we are having a meal that he does not prefer, he goes right to the cheese.
