What time do your kids go out to play in summer?

Today is the last day of school for my girls. Well my oldest likes to go on the swings while she waits for me to get her siblings ready to go, instead of helping to my dismay. Well I was putting in a load of wash quick before we left and I heard my oldest talking to someone So I get up stairs and the pesky neighbor girl who's 4 is outside hanging out w/ my DD. Ok it's 8:10 AM! Her mom is sitting on the couch w/o a care in the world.... Now normally I try to keep them in til 9am til most folks are awake. Or they'll see me watering the garden and sneak out but they are not out pestering people either.

This sounds familiar. My kids are always the one's bugging to go knock for one of the kids next door or at the house behind us. My kids get up early around 7:00 every day even when there is no school. The rule I tell my kids is no knocking on anyone's door until 10:00 - 10:30. Even if my kids slept later I still would make them wait. You have to be respectful of other people too.

Sadly her mother is less than respectful of people for example her mother has been known to walk into other people's homes w/o being invited in. And her mother has started yelling @ her kid out their side window to go outside and play w/ my kids... no ask just shoves the kid out the door onto me. I keep telling her to go home. I have 3 kids, she has 1!

It wasn't my door she did it to thankfully. We do have a fence up but that doesn't mean my kids won't unlatch it for her. I've gotta work on talking to my girls about that, unlatching the fence for her to play.

Hmmm.... can you maybe lock the door and don't answer it? Or even put a fence up? You may have to have a little talk with the mother.

I'm not home, so the kids are in day care. Knowing them on weekends though, they'd be watching TV for at least a couple of hours before they'd go outside.

My sons didn't play outside much in the summer because we lived in Arizona at the time and the temps got up to 100 before 9am. What a miserable place to live! When we discovered there was a park a few miles away (we lived way out in the "country") we were so disappointed because the equipment was hot enough to burn their skin. When I was a child we ate breakfast and raced outside! All the kids were up by then and we only went home for lunch and supper and then finally when the street lights came on. What fun we had!

Yeah they say AZ is like our winters, they spend it all in doors wich to me would say they should go to school in summer & have winter off ;0) I was that way too but my kids are little yet and this neighbor kid is too!

My kids aren't allowed to play outside where we live... I don't like the neighborhood or the area, or the other kids.. you get the idea. When we go out to play we drive somewhere, like a park or playground or to my father in laws to play in his yard. Normally that's not until after lunch. When I was a kid I usually had to wait until 10 or 11 am to go outside. I guess it was to give people a chance to wake up before I was out there making noise.. perhaps also because traffic is less hectic mid-morning... not sure. I remember once living across the street from a single mom who was a nurse. On her days off she'd have her kid playing outside at like 7am.. my only guess was that she was trying to make up for lost time because she worked so much the kid didn't get much of a chance to play.. he was always with a babysitter.

My children are teenagers now, When they were younger, they couldn't wait to get outside to play. They couldn not wait for summer to come. They would be outside playing at the first break of sunlight. That's all it would take.

I think I waited for a while. And I sure as heck didn't go into someone elses yard until a decent hour.

hello there people.. i have a 6 months old granddaughter and her mother usually take her out in the sun from 7 am till 9 am cos here in the philippines usually sun comes out at 6 am and 9am start of so much heat so for me that is the best time for children here to play in summer.

I can totally agree with that if the child is up that early and the heat gets too much later in the day especially for lil ones.

My 3 year old likes to go out in our backyard and sit at her little picnic table and eat her breakfast when it is nice out, so some days she is out there at around 8 am, but most days she is not out playing until later in the day.

I think they are wasting time often out in the park or lurking in my neighbor house loitering and bullying on something or someone maybe they think they have this world so they don't get boring easily but unfortunately I have no kids so I can stay enjoying my hot chocolate and playing my sound system without worrying anyone kids messing around in my room and steal my property .

For me 7-9am and 4-5pm so that no sun born because to much heat it can cause cancer.

Thats a little too early. I let my kids out at 11:00. 10:30 maybe if the neighbors are out in their yard.I think that's really inconsiderate too many people who are asleep. There are people who work the graveyard shift and are trying to sleep.
