Mylot could be our virtual book club!!

As an avid reader I love to talk about books that I have read and hear of other peoples reading experiences. I love this 'reading' interest as it gives me the chance to share my thoughts and book recommendations. We have our own virtual book club. #Perhaps we could set up a type of book club where some on could suggest a book and then we go and read it and make our observations on it and discuss it. What do you think - could we do this? if so do we have a book to suggest??

Hi Oldchem, What an excellent idea, I did order and have now received the book you recommended to me in a previous discussion 'Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain' haven't started reading it yet though been too busy here lol. There is one book that is written by another myLotter which I highly recommend if you like historic novels Letter From Poitou by Michael J. Eardley It is set in the 134th century seen through a womans eyes on wars, polictics, murder and forbidden love. Huggles. Ellie :D

I think that is a fantastic idea, kudos for coming up with it! I have never been in a book club, but always wanted to join one (but I never quite had the time, I am sure you know how it is... but this would be different since we can all share our opinions whenever we want, since it is online and all). If you guys decide to do this, I am definately in!

I think this is a GREAT idea. I have made lots of recommendations in the past to other lotters, but have no idea if they ever took any of them. I mostly read science fiction with some mysteries and a few romances in the mix. So, start a discussion recommending a book or a type of book and I will jump right in!!!

I've never been a member of any book club, maybe because there is none in our place and that I had other things in mind even if there was, although I must admit that reading books used to be my number one hobby. As of now, I spend more time on online forums, but I do miss reading books. Hopefully I'll get to go back to those time and then might join a club. I guess just opening a topic with the books title and/or author would make a healthy discussion.

I'd love to be able to have an online book club here at mylot too, but I don't think it would work very well. We all have pretty different tastes in books, so it would be hard to find books that we all want to read. If you start a book club, then I'll try to participate but I might not be able to read the same books y'all read.

Your idea is interesting. I've never actually joined a book club but I've always wondered how those would go. I can't promise I would join up if ever you do start one here in MyLot, but I would try :)

I suppose the only way to do it would be to post a discussion about a certain book and see how it went!

I think it is a great idea. I would not know how to go about starting it and keeping it going. I have started a couple of discussions on books and they fade off fairly quick. I read a lot too and I would love to not only get some good book titles but read some reviews about them.

I think this would be a great idea but would require it's own interest category to better keep the discussions organized. It'd be great and help us all with venturing out into new genres, and finding books we didn't think we'd like just by the cover. I find the cover, and sometimes even the synopsis can make a look real bad, when in reality the treasure within is waiting to be read, ya know what I mean?

That very interesting as long as the book that is recommended left all the readers excited to read the beginning till the last pages. Some topics which could be entertaining, informative,m educational and useful topics where everyone could benefit.

The problem I have is that I'm usually at the mercy of whatever is available at the local charity shop! I think it might be an idea to have several clubs running, perhaps for different genres as nothing on Earth is going to get me to read Mills and Boon!

The day I would recommend a Mills and Boon would be the day that hell froze over!!!!

That sounds a very good idea! I love reading and often get ideas on books or authors to read from these kinds of sites and Ciao and Dooyoo. At the moment, I am reading Denise Welch's autobiography, which is excellent. I usually read several books at once, but I am just reading this one as it is so good, but I have a couple of library books to start after this one.

That's a very good idea I've never joined a book club yet and I'm going to look forward to your plan. I also love reading and wants to share the books that I'm reading and have other readers opinion about the book that I'm reading. I also want to recommend books that I find inspiring and helpful and also I want to know the books that others find interesting that they want to recommend to other readers
