when buying a house, what does one consider? which is the most important? a neighbourhood with good schools? close to work? close to shops or to bars? for me, it would be close to water (on a lake or river).

I thought I looked for all the right things, although I am very happy with my home and the layout, position and location. It's just a shame as there's certain issues my families having with troublesome neighbours. I basically looked for a nice sized house, something that's a little different as most homes around here are exactly the same in design. I didn't want a massive garden but decent sized and I looked very good links.

Hi. cher913. I look for a nice neighborhood that is very quiet and peaceful. I also would desire for this neighbor hood to have a sidewalk around it so that I could do my daily walking. I also would like for it to not be so far out either I want to be close to a grocery store and gas station so that I could there when I need to.

My first prority is to look for quietness and clean surroundings. There must be a lot of greenery and not too near to busy streets

My husband and I bought our first house two and a half years ago and at that time there were several criteria that we kept in mind. First, and perhaps most importantly, we wanted a home that had four bedrooms. We wanted one bedroom for each of the children, one for ourselves, and an extra bedroom that we would be using as an office. The next criteria that we had was that we wanted something that had room to improve (a fixer-upper). Finally, we wanted to make sure that we wer in a good school district.

We used to live in the heart of the city, close to everything. That's why when we bought our first house, one factor had to be close to bus stops, grocery shopping, etc. So, the place we are currently in is literally two blocks away from Wal-Mart. And is close to city hall and bus stops. My next target house would have a good sized backyard. And hopefully still close to where we are living now.

In Shanghai , I prefer a house with an university beside it . Because college school often contains good iquipments ,so we can take good use of them .And often the traffic arround schools is convenient.

Hi Cher, I have my dream location as I am a short walk from the beach, and also have a stream running by the house and lots of country walks as rural area too,my sons schools in just up the road and I am within walking distance of a lovely parade of shops but only 9 miles from a city. Transport links are amazing, I can catch a bus from the end of the road. Huggles. Ellie :D

I have been looking forward to buying my first house. As of now it is nothing more than just a dream, but I usually daydream about it every now and then lol. Well for me it would be the neighborhood, would it be safe for me? How close it is to the nearest hospital, bank, post office etc. I also would prefer the suburbs if I have a physical job but if I would do telecommuting like you I would prefer living near a lake or river, have a big well manicured lawn and a country house. But I'd also make sure that it is near the business district so I would not take long drives to get some things done.

Well when I buy a house I just first see how is the house if it is already completed what material they used ? how is the finishing? then in which locality it is ? how is the neighbors and all ? What are facilities near by like kids schooling , how far the office from that place ? How far is the market ? IS the water connection from municipality there or not?
