What are dogs for?

many people like dogs but some do not. But I like dogs (especially puppies)very much. People do not like dogs maybe due to its thick and loose furs, and in my place (North Borneo, dogs are not fed with the proper animal food. So, here dogs forage foods and naturally they feed on human faeces that come on their way. What is wonderful about dogs is that even if you don't feed them today, they won't get angry at you or take grudge on you. If this this morning you hit him hard on its head, in the evening if you call him, he will come running to you, waging its tail, making that friendly sounds and then licking your hands several times. There is one more thing: dog's memory is perhaps stronger that ours. If you fly today from North Borneo to New York and then ten days later your dog is flown to New York. It is then released to meet you on a street. When it sees you, can you imagine how it will react to you? Do you think it doesn't recognize you?

Well in some countries dogs are eaten so I guess in North Borneo things for dogs are not as bad as some countries. But it does sound like dogs are not treated as they are in America. True some people abuse their dogs but most are treated like a treasured friend. The only tiem we would hit our dogs would be if they were fighting or hurting an animal or human. Mostly our dogs have been trained never to do these things unless they are protecting us. PS Never did I ever think that I would be chatting with someone from North Borneo, the whole idea really impresses me. Thanks for being on mylot

Dogs are like humans. They have very good memory too. They will forever remember you even if you'd been away for years and you come back, they will still recognize you. They are very charming, loyal, sweet, and so adorable. I love dogs and I have 3 dogs at home which I take good care.

I love dogs.I love pets in general.I admit,I like pets more than babies.I don't have patience with a baby crying.guess I am not up for motherhood.I can take the responsibility of cleaning up after a pet over cleaning up after a baby.I don't know why, but it's just me.

I love most animals especially dogs.I take great care to feed my dog, brush him and take him for a walk daily.Your point regarding dogs having a memory is absolutely right we had a domestic help who would feed the dog in my absence in the morning and even today after 4 years whenever she makes a visit my dog greets her with great respect.Dogs recognise us better than our fellow human beings.

Dogs will definitely recognize you. However some dogs have longer memory while some shorter. Have you tried adopting dogs before? Some dogs when you bring them home, they will adapt to the place almost immediately. I have adopted a dog many years ago. One the first day, she just lay in front of the main door. Occassionally, she would howl. After a few days, she was back to normal and started "interacting" with the family.

My husband has a dog. Its his dog even before we got married. It was our baby before I gave birth to our daughter. He's very loyal and loving. Its amazing how he sense it when one of us is sick or sad. He would sit next to you, as if saying "you're not alone" or "i'll take care of you". When a disaster hit our home, we had to move out of the house for the baby. But unfortunately, we cant take our dog with us. It took us more than a week to come back and take a visit. Though his sadness is noticeable, he still greeted us with his usual bark and jumping. :)

I am a dog lover. I have four indoor dogs that live with me and I treated them more than who they are. Sometimes I forgot that they are dogs and consider them as an extension of my small family. I really miss them as I am now holidaying in another country. My dogs will always recognize me regardless of how long I left them. From the land down-under to the land below the wind, it will not change my dogs attitude towards their master.

Well my dogs are my friends. If I go anywhere on my own my dogs will greet me on return as if I have been gone for weeks. They were raised as close companions and that is what they are. As to what they are for that is an odd question, like asking what people are for. Humans keep dogs for protection and companionship. They are the best companions because they are loyal, protective and loving. As to not feeding them, hmmm. My dogs cry if I am late getting up to feed them their breakfast. It is not because they are hungry either as they do not get much and they have dry food down all the time. I think they just like their routine and having their people close by.

Dogs make marvelous, loyal pets. They are also good for guarding your home. If a dog knew you, and then it was flown to New York, ten days later it would know you for sure and be all over you with doggy kisses.

R U for real. Animal abuse must come high where u live. Hit them hard on the head they will come to u later. Sounds like u done this before. u don't have to hit an animal for any reason.I usually write this so people have something to think about, this applies to u that u actually DO IT. REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV/ CARE/TRAIN YOUR DOG / PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U..

I like dogs very much; I wish I could have one. One of my friends told me that she'll give me a puppy but my husband wouldn't like it because we already have 3 cats. My son likes dogs too but he's worried about our cats if I keep the puppy. He thinks they'll go away if there's a puppy in our house. Dogs are very loyal animals. There's a show in the tv called Animal Planet and it shows how dogs are ill-treated and just like humans when they are rehabilitated they conquer their traumas. Yes dogs don't have memory lapses. When I was a teenager, I was the one who fed our five dogs and they didn't eat when some members of my family fed them. When I arrived late, they waited for me and that's only the time they ate.

I love all animals and pets but I especially love dogs. Mostly because they will be your best friend no matter what. I love how they all have personalities, just like humans, and I love how friendly, happy and affectionate they can be. I love coming home to find my dogs are so happy to see me. I think it's so sad that people abandon or abuse dogs. It's so unfair to the dogs, they all deserve to have a really good home with people who love them and will take care of them. I try to encourage everyone I know to adopt dogs from the shelter to give the dogs in need a good home, instead of buying a puppy from a pet shop, and by doing so, supporting puppy mills. I am pretty sure that in the circumstance you described the dog would definitely remember you. I think that once a dog and his owner have established that certain connection, he will never forget them and be loyal to them for his whole life.

Dogs are for people to make pets of them and learn from them and love them, and care for them. It is outrageous to turn dogs loose and not feed them and take care of them. They are God's creatures just as much as we are.No dogs are very loyal and we should be loyal also to our pets and take good care of them always. Yes your dog will always recognize you and if you have taken good care of it he will come to you gleefully.
