Do you dress according to your age?

I just watched a show in Oprah and the topic was to dress according to your age. Well, I actually notice other people who don't dress their age. Some young people, look older because of the way they dress, and some mature people don't look appropriate wearing tight mini's and short shorts. So, as I was looking at my closet, I wonder if I do dress my age. When you go to the mall, they don't categorize clothes you buy. Like this rack are for age 20's, this rack for 30's, 40's, 50's, lol... So, I really wonder. Do you dress according to your age?

I'd like to say that 28 onwards is the threshold for pulling things off. Another thing I'd like to point out is that dressing appropriately has a lot to with career. I don't dress appropriately for my age (I'm 29), but I'd like to think that I dress right to reflect the things I do. I still wear pigtails, among other things. If it's not dressing for career, it's expressing yourself. The problem with this is that it's am excuse to dress badly, which is what Oprah tries to fight off with her show. So to those who don't have a proper job to dress up for and are left with expressing yourself, I think the bottom line is that you look presentable, look clean, all while not being afraid of color and things like print. Having said that, you have to be familiar with your body image and overall figure. You can't just wear it because you like it.

You said it right, my friend. As I was looking at my clothes, I'm thinking is this blouse a 30ish blouse, or a teenagers blouse, lol... I guess it all depends on how you wear and style it.

I believe I do dress according to my age and sometimes may be a bit more conservative than the average person. I do like cute designs on occasion and will venture this way especially if I happen to have somewhere to go.

Well,I probably do most the time about 80% other times I probably dress older then me. I guess that happens because my mom buys some of my clothes and she is 62. But, I like to be comfortable when dressing so I wear shorts/capri's and t-shirts most the summer and I feel that is appropriate for my age of 36. I don't do mini skirts although I have a few I don't wear them.

I am 40 and I think I dress like a woman in my 30s, but sometimes I have to make sure I don't wear clothes which are too old for me. My Mum will give me clothes that she no longer wears and she is in her 60s, so sometimes they really aren't my style and can make me look old!

Age had nothing to do with how I dress, I dress for comfort and do not care what anyone thinks I should dress like. I like loose clothing and I could care less about fashion or what others think I should dress like. There is to many other people trying to dictate what people eat, or wear or where they should live or some other thing. If someone wants to dress like they are 20 and they are 40 why should I care or why should they care what I wear. I am nearly 61 and many people think I am 40 and do not believe me when I tell them I am 60 and it is not how I dress it is just how I look and behave as well. There are days I feel 80 and days I feel 30. Some days I just flop around in a loose Moo Moo dress and other times I wear slacks. If someone does not like what I wear too bad, they can look the other way.

I dress the way I am comfortable. I don't wear real youthful clothing because it isn't comfortable. No, I don't dress according to my age. And I don't go in for what is in style at the time. If I buy something very expensive I make sure it is a classic piece I can wear off and on without looking totally rediculous.

I think I dress according to my age...but then I always have my own dress code...I just dress according to what I like and what suit me that is very important...to follow fashion is good but let not over do it!...I started making my own clothes at 14 because I could not see anything I liked...nowadays I don't sew so much for my self but I do for other people...now Im retired I do it as an extra income...what I learnt then it happen to come handy today!...a lot of people are looking for fashionable dresses...tops...in sizes according to their figure and what suit them.

dear santos, i dont know if you may call it dressing according to my age. but i do dress up according to the occasion. i wear working clothes like skirt and blouse with coat in the office. i wear a formal dress or a gown during parties. when i am at the beach i wear a bathing suit. i dont think i will wear pants to the beach. that would be very heavy when wet. have a nice day. ann

I am a man of 60. I wear t-shirt and jeans. Is that too young for my age? I don't bother as long as I am comfortable. We dress for ourselves and not to please others. We know that we cannot please everyone all the times. So why bother.

I don't exactly know how a woman that is in their 30s is supposed to dress, so I honestly don't know if I dress appropriately for my age. However, I do have a typical type of clothing that I wear on almost a daily basis, and what I have realized is that most other people that I know that are in the same stage in life as I am dress in the same way. I would say that by looking at me, it is easy to tell that I am a mother.

I think I dress appropriate for my age. As you get older, I think your tastes change along with your body. Some women get chubby around their bellies as they age and can't wear short tops anymore. I think you become more concerned with comfort than with the style of the clothes.

I do dress my age. I'm middle-aged and don't dress in any other way. I certainly don't like seeing women my age dress like the teenagers. They look awful with all of their wrinkles and wearing young kids clothes.

I dress in what I like and don't really worry about whether others think that it is too young or too old for my age. That being said, I've found that as I've gotten older, I'm much more drawn to simple, tailored pieces that are considered classic and are appropriate for any age.

to think of as dressing your age ever heard of your as young as you feel.? Act your age? and so forth truth is you dress as my thoughts are if you feel comfortable wear it and if you feel differant than others than do not but mainly please yourself not others or you will not be happy wearing it. Same with colors some colors you like but just does not look as good on you as it does others . Again ask and use your judgement. There is no age style on clothes anymore. Think the wide leg jeans was out in the 60's and 70's now they are back again . The mini skirts was then and now they are back in some places. Just remember some styles you have to create yourself. I think be a leader not a follower in your styles and look good you have to feel good.. just a thought here and there.

Yes, I do dress accordingly to my age because it is the correct way to dress. If I feel comfortable wearing what I'm wearing then that's what I'll wear. Otherwise, if not comfortable then I'll switch to something that is and that's according to what the weather will be. But let me tell you something. I'm 43 and back a few years ago, I had a girlfriend who was 48 at the time and this was maybe like 2-3 years ago. On days like this whereas it's hot and sticky, she would wear short skirts like she was a teenager or one of those nice young ladies you see in a go-go joint, and I didn't approve of her wearing them. So I know what you mean that people don't dress according to their age. You know what disgusts me though, right, when a heavy set person wears skirts. It doesn't make them look good at all. But anyway today's generation of dressers sure don't know how to dress. I mean if you saw American Idol with the guy that came on there talkin' about, "Pants to the Ground" that's just the way they are. They don't know a thing about dressing. Who wants to see someone with their pants hangin' of their _ss out in public?

I dress according to atmosphere appropriateness, what I mean is that at work it is suit, heels and total professionalism. On my own time well although in my early forty's I am fortunate to look twenty eight, at least I am reminded daily..LOL So I love dressing trendy and stylish on my own time and well it is good for the soul if one feels young then go for it. However I am not hip to a let us for discussion sake say a wrinkly old person dressing like a teenager, could be an eye sore.

Yes I think so, because one thing i believe that if you want respect you should show it and that is by dressing up properly...
