Are you comfortable eating alone in a restaurant?

I'm not. I'd really rather get a take out than eat alone in a restaurant. Maybe for some people they don't care but I can only eat alone in the comfort of my own home. How about you?

Hi gicolet! I guess twice I did that, I have no choice but to eat, I'm far from home. I'm not comfortable eating alone in a restaurant, I feel everyone's looking at me... kinda weird..hehe.

It's nice to have companionship during a restaurant meal. it's good to have someone to converse with and enjoy the atmosphere with. Even though dining with someone is enjoyable, i still don't mind eating at a restaurant alone. The food and service will be just as good.

I know, the food and service will be just as good. Maybe it will help if I read a magazine or newspaper while eating alone. Thanks for responding :)

I actually enjoy dining alone in restaurants sometimes. It is nice to have some peace and quiet and time to think...

Even I am not comfortable eating alone in a restaurant. I would prefer at least one friend to accompany.

Same here! I'm not comfortable at all. Although I'm jealous because other people can do it. I haven't done that in my entire life. I always have someone with me every time I have to eat outside and if I'm alone, just like you, I'd rather get a take out. I don't mind eating alone at home but I really can't take eating alone outside. I hate the feeling but no matter how hard I wanted to try for practical reasons, I just don't have the courage.

I actually prefer to eat alone. I'm not big on socializing while I eat, and when you eat with other people you have to carry on a conversation. And I like to read while I eat. Or sometimes let my thoughts wander without feeling like I'm being rude which you can't do when you're with other people. As far as other people in the restaurant, I'm not really concerned with what they might think. Another benefit to eating alone is that I could people watch without having to stop to entertain companions.

I have not eaten alone in a restaurant very often, but it does not bother me to eat alone outside of the home. There are some foods I really enjoy that my husband does not like. I may go out with a friend who likes these same types of foods or just go alone.

Hi, I love to eat alone when I am in my home. But when I am at the restaurant I want to enjoy the meal with my friends and families. It's not that I feel alone or can't spend the time alone. It is because that I want to make the best of my time there. I don't frequently go to restaurants. Whenever I go I am usually accompanied by close friends. I have a lot of fun there. The feeling of relief stays with me the whole week. Thanks. God bless you

Not really, I feel a bit selfconcious when I do it, but I still do it from time to time, especially on business trips.

I don't understand why this is a concern. A restaurant is a place to sit down and eat, not a place for me to worry about what others think. I certainly won't care about that. When I am in a restaurant, i am definitely there to eat, and i don't like to take home because i like the food hot and fresh.
