i have been trying to sell a lot of items that i have had in my 2nd bedroom because im going to make it a guest bedroom so i have been selling on various sites and with bigger items i have been using craigslist so no shipping to worry about.. well i got the idea i should scan the "items wanted" area just to see if anything i had matched up.. well there is one ad that was a game store saying theyd buy old systems games etc and i have a game system that i won/earned in a ptc that is not mainstream and well not known well.. i dont want it and before i decided to drive an hour away to be told no thanks i figured i would email the poster. i told him the info and asked if they buy them and i signed it my first name and email addy so he could reply.. well he replied with no (big surprise) and then added at the end "nice facebook page picture" i was like WTF?!?! i didnt make any reference to facebook and i just think its kind of odd that a person that works at a game store that gets a question on buying a system would make this person just automatically look me up in facebook.. i mean it has nothing to do with if i would sell or buy anything.. i understand people like to look up people they know or just met online on facebook but this was just a simple question with no reason to continue to talk.. am i wrong for thinking its odd and somewhat creepy? i guess maybe he had nothing better to do than do it but still.. odd.. what do you think? i mean ive had stalkers in the past so i know its not like he is stalking or anything just seems odd to take the effort for no reason..

I'm afraid I would've responded with something like, "WTF are you doing looking at my Facebook profile, you creep!" or words to that effect. Facebook is something I don't get involved with anymore because of creeps like him that have nothing else better to do. Low life. Oh, you could also tell him to "Get out more!"

I really don't think it's odd or creepy. I'm a guy yes, and I've had my share of things like that. I because of social networking sites, people already have the instinct of looking up other people to see what they look like (if they haven't met the person). Guys like to do things like that. You emailed him your name and as he just found it interesting to check out if you have a facebook account and how you look like. I know not all guys do that, it's just that maybe he was that curious. I don't think there's anything wrong with it though.

well the thing i think that is really weird is that he told me he did and that i was just going to sell his store a gaming system so i could have been 90 years old for all he knew so its not like i was acting my age and talking about anything other than business.. im a curious person too but i dont think id tell some one if i had looked them up and i wouldnt have thought to look up some one that mailed my work for a business transaction lol

Oh yeah. I forgot to tell you that. It's already in my mindset that what's weird is he told you that he looked you up in facebook. Maybe he's waiting for a response from you for what he did. You should just ignore him. Although there's nothing REALLY weird with it. You'll just blurt wtf?! in that kind of situation.

Truthfully he was probably checking you out...he probably has alot of scammers to..or maybe he just wanted to see who you were before he made any commitments. He must have a business.....so I would probably check on someone too...I just wouldn't admit it!

I'm sure that as a Games Store they will have at some point had people trying to seel stolen items to them so It may have been to check you out.

if that were the case then it why wouldnt he look up everyone that sells him something in the actual store? i think people would freak if they tried to sell something and the dude was like hold up and they saw him googling their name

But if you are buying something from someone in your store you should want to know that they were not trying to sell stolen goods.

Are you sure he isn't stalking you? I mean really...that is pretty weird. I know some people like looking up people they know online and all but this is a guy that you don't know at all. He not only went out of his way to look you up but had the blls to let you know that he looked you up. Yep...that is really pretty weird considering that you don't know this guy. listen to your gut and be safe. ok? I'm a mom so maybe I'm just being overprotective here but if one of my girls told me this story, I would tell them to stay clear of this one.

since i know nothing about him he may be stalking me who knows.. usually i know the people stalking me but this is just a weird situation lol.. i didnt reply and not gonna.. he said they dont buy what i was asking and wanting to sell so there was no reason to even continue the convo and i was afraid if i made a comment about him being creepy it would start a huge convo back and forth and i would never get rid of him

Yes, that is creepy but then he just might have been curious about you. Since you gave him your personal details, he easily typed them on the search box and found you. Best be careful about leaving your full name the next time you mail someone.

How did he know your name to look you up on facebook,That does seem really strange to me. I know there is lots of strange people on craigslist. I really don't like to post much on that site because i heard some really scary things that my friend told me about what happened to her. Just be really careful.

i had put my email addy to reply to and its the same one i use for fb and i listed my first name.. i mean who would think that some one would look you up on fb?!?! i have sold several things on craigslist and yeah its uncomfortable but i also sell online but these items are too heavy to ship so ugh!! i always meet up in a public place with my 6'6 hubby lol.. so i figure when i mention my husband is coming along and how tall he is so they can recognize us that should make them think twice.. but yeah its still scary especially since i have social anxiety

that is kind of strange, maybe even creepy as you said it just that he doesn't need to look at your FB or even any of your photos online you are not asking for a date or requesting friendship LOL so photo is not required I sell many things online and I never bother looking up buyer's photos but I do check on emails, to see if there is report they are scams or not because sometimes spams and scams still go into my inbox sometimes there are photos associated with these emails but I wasn't looking for photos in the first place and even if I did, I wouldn't tell them I found their photos LOL

that reminds me i should look up one person i sold an item to that gave me a bogus address and yet paid for it and wouldnt respond when i tried to contact her to get the correct address so i just ended up refunding the money and wondering wtf that was about!

I suppose he could have been checking you are a real person as maybe he's had people try to scam him selling him things. But it does seem a bit crepy looking you up on facebook all the same, and if he was just checking out whether you were genuine there was no need to mention it.

well no matter what i would have had to travel an hour to that store to sell it to him so its not like im wanting to ship it to him so he'd have to worry.. i think the fact he mentioned it was just my main thing on it being creepy

Hi, moonlitmagikchild. That is very creepy. So this guy is already on craiglist and he has already viewed your facebook profile? Did you leave him with your real name? This is the main reason why I don't ever use my real name on Facebook. It is not your fault. This guy is truly strange. If he is not interested in buying your product from you then he should, have never checked you out on Facebook. He went to this extreme just so that he can find out more about you? What a shame! I ran into this website today that allows you to see whom all has been checking out your profile on social networking sites. http://www.socialprofile.com/select.php

Yeah, I would be kinda creeped out if that happened to me. If it had happened to me, I'd have to email him back and ask him how he found me on Facebook to see if he'd answer. Have you done that?

Ah, I see you haven't replied. You could always block him if he thought you were interested in him. I'd just want to know how he did it, then block him once I knew.

he must have done a search on the email addy i left him to reply to because its the same one i use for fb but ugh i didnt want to ask him because with my luck if he thinks he can get a date from a business question who knows what he'd think if i actually talked to him more lol.. not to mention he'd within an hr away from me!!

Hey moonlit~ Yes, that is extremely creepy! That is one of the reasons why I refuse to go near FB! Too many weird things have happened to people I know when they got involved with that site. I am worried enough about the amount of personal information I put on the computer as it is! And all you were doing was trying to sell something. Why would this guy have to "check you out"? Disturbing, yes...

im kinda screwed internet wise though.. all my friends moved to different states and dont to the email but do fb or other social sites only.. so if i choose to not do them i lose everyone which sucks!! but yet im a privacy freak with my profiles and flippin facebook keeps having security breaches and changes its making me crazy!! i just cant win!

it was creepy. and wierd at the same time. I've changed all my setting so that only my friends see me or can find me. I'm tired of people trying to pull that BS as well. It's important to understand too that employers pull those sites up to see if you personality would be a good match to there company. so beware....lol....

im disabled so no worries on it affecting me getting a job but i have my privacy settings tight too so all he saw was my pic but ugh apparently he thought that was enough to tell me he saw it

It does seem a little strange but I'm sure most people who use Facebook regularly will have at some point checked out someones profile who they have heard of on a site like Mylot etc.

It does at first though sounds creepy and weird, however how many times haven't you searched online every possible avenue to assure something is not scam. I would probably do the same in your case if I was buying something form you, no offense. But certainly I would not tell I did so unless I saw something out of sorts and certainly would not comment that you have a great face book page unless of course you mentioned at some point I could find you there as well. So yes this does seem odd, but then it may be he has a weird personality. Take caution!

i could understand if it was a long distance sell but if he said he might be interested i was willing to drive the hour to his store so he could have seen it and said no or seen if it was a scam then.. it wasnt opened so its not like i stole it and scratched serial numbers off.. so i mean all he had to do was say yes or no if they even bought it and if yes id done all the hard work lol

I think that is strange. He probably looked you up on Facebook by your e-mail address, but yes, it's kinda weird, like he was looking for something more than just a gaming system.

That is creepy! I mean... he looked up your facebook which is just plain creepy to begin with. But then he commented on it! I mean... I would tell him that was creepy. And then remove my facebook page. I can't stand the creeps that find me on facebook and then message me... I don't know what I would do if a business contact looked up my facebook.

i wont get rid of my facebook account just because i have already gotten rid of my myspace account so its the only way to keep in contact with certain friends and relatives and i have everything on private so he only saw the picture and thats it.. i figured if i replied to his comment he might think im interested and start bugging me
