Were I work we have 3 different types of Hours. The Nurses & CNA's work 3-12 Hour shifts and have 4 days off. The Kitchen staff works 4-10 Hour shifts and get 3 days off and there is me the poor Housekeeper that has to work 5-8Hour shifts and only gets 2 days off. we tried to work it so we could work 4-10's but it doesn't work out for our department. I would love to have a 3 day weekend. 2 Days are not enough, 4 might be to much depending if you had money to do things cause it's like a mini vacation every week. What's your work schedule and do you like it?

8 hours a day, five days work, and two days off. Sometimes I have to work for 10 hours a day. But it is okay, two days off is enough for me.

As long as you happy that's all it matters. I would be happy with 3 days off...not so much working 10 hours though

When I worked I worked 10-12 hour days for 6 days a week. I was paid 8 dollars and hour and time and a half over 8 hours. For a week and a half I ended up making $762. I worked at a place called Signstrut. It was a factory that makes the big signs that light up you see at stores and gas stations..I actually took the job while I was visiting my parents out of state who also worked there. So I had to quit when I came home. Which hubs ended up taking most my money..lol but I did get some nice clothes, even if they were from a thrift store.

Heyya Missy. In the summer, I work from 6am til 3:30pm 5 days a week. In the winter..well..that's another monster. It is the busy season so we work from 6:30-2:30 6-7 days a week. Depending on scheduling of course. Two days is not enough..lol...but one or no days is grueling. It's great for extra Christmas money and such but it is tough on the bosy and soul.

I guess it all evens out in the end. This same ordeal got me thinking a while back. Some days I feel like I would MUCH rather work 3 12 hour shifts and be done with work for the rest of the week - but could you imagine having that much free time? My schedule at my primary job has been kind of goofy and unpredictable lately. A couple of months ago, I was working 4-5 hour shifts, 5-6 days per week, and then I worked 8 1/2-9 hour shifts 5 days a week, and now my schedule is so goofy and unpredictable that I couldn't even tell you what I'm "working" because I'm on call. However, it has been that I've been doing the 5 hours a day thing, 6 days a week. Which is fine by me - gives me something to do! Plus, like you said, we'd probably be out spending our money, and therefore be broke. lol.

If you have nothing else to do and it keeps you out of trouble and spending money then it's OK I guess. My limit is 5 days cause I like doing things on the weekends.

I work 9 hours a day and have a 2 day weekend. I feel like I work too much, even though I know there are others who work much, much more.

It seems like a lot when you work 5 days. My friend works 3-12 hour shifts she comes in a day after I start and is of while I still have to work another day..not fair

I work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. My employer is not strict on attendance as long as we deliver the 8 hours a day. I have a flexible schedule. I don't render overtime but if I do, I am allowed a day off.

I don't like to do overtime either, it's bad enough only having 2 days off. Maybe twice a year I get stuck working a Saturday or Sunday

for our company we have a standard off 2 days off and we work 8 hours a day - 9 hours actually but 1 hour is alloted for your lunch break - supposedly. where i worked previously, in a call center, there are 4 day work week and they work 10 hours, with 3 days off.

I regularly work for 8 hours a day. Two days off? It is okay with me because my job isn't that stressful. Just have good rest on your weekends.

I think that twelve hour days are far too long and I guess working these kinds of hours doesn't really give you any time for life at home! It sounds nice when some jobs give you four days off, that's almost a luxury I guess. I used to work twelve hour shifts and I was really comfortable with that situation. Thankfully I'm out of that environment now. Andrew

It is a really long day I'm sure but 4 days off sounds really good. I think about my friends at work once I get home ...I eat dinner watch TV and go to bed they just getting off work.

Its hard to work on a 12 hour shifts, very very tiring. At every end of a 12 hour shift, you go home very hungry, grouchy and tired. 5-8 is the most reasonable work shift.

I agree it's a long day but you only do it 3 days. It also depends on what you have to do for 12 hours.

I am a nurse and work 5-8 1/2 hour shifts. We work 8 1/2 because they take out 1/2 for lunch. I never take lunch and they refuse to pay overtime but yell if you don't finish everything, so they get at least 5 hours free from me every week. There was discussion a few years ago about changing our hours to 10 or 12 hour shifts, but nothing ever came of it.

That's what I work ...eight and a half hours but I always sit down and take my half an hour for lunch. You should too since they don't pay you anyways.

I am supposed to work 40 hours per week but tend to work 50-55 because I am the manager. I also work 12 hours on Saturday at a part time job.

I'm a stay at home wife right now, so my hours are pretty sporadic. xD And I never get a vacation unless my mother-in-law comes down to visit because she takes over the cleaning and cooking (which happens about once a year). I do miss working, but because of high stress in my job and a worry of pre-eclampsia hubby and I decided that staying home until I have the baby might be a good idea. :) When I was working I had sporadic shifts, too, because I was a server and so there was never any guarantee of getting out on time. If I was scheduled a 5 hour shift I was almost guaranteed to be there 6 hours. The 9 hour shifts were the worst because they happened on weekends and I would often be there 10 - 12 hours and at that point I'm just tired and sick of dealing with people. xD

I work in a daycare and my work schedule is not as bad as some peoples, but I do not particularly lime it either. It is not totally fair for everyone because some people get to work 8 hour days and make the same money as people who have to work 9 hour days, yet there are some people who are getting paid even less to work 9 and a half hour days. I am the one who has to work 9 hour days, It beat 9 and a half hours, but I still do not think it is fair for us when people get to work 8 hours doing the same job for the same salary. I thankfully get my weekends off, but working 9 hour days 5 days a week with little children around can be quite grueling.

Since I am working at home. I have 10 hrs work. But, I can do whatever I want to do and I can have a vacation or breaktime whenever I want to because it's my own time and Im not into an 8-5 working hrs work.

I totally agree with you in a 3-day off scheme. I'd rather work 10 hours in 4 days a week and have the 3 days off. 2 days is enough but when you want to really do other things besides shopping, cleaning and taking care of your family, 2 days off would just be for shopping and cleaning. I wish that companies would consider such schemes. Because 10 hours of work is just the same with a 5-day work of 8 hours. Plus you just didn't save a day, you save some expenses too! Like transportation and lunch outs.

The only day I really ca enjoy is Saturdays. After I get home on Friday I don't do nothing and then on Sunday I don't wanna do anything cause I already have to think about work the next day
