I keep a separate email just for Freecycle. I guess I am sick and want to see the whole listing - ha ha!! But to keep it separate from my regular emails, I can go down the line and see what's up for offers, what's taken, and what some people want - and not miss a thing for the most part. We have several different Freecycle groups in this Valley, so perhaps that may be the reason why it's not too terribly flooded in our inboxes. But if I miss checking the Freecycle email for just a day or two, oh yah, there are too many listings to go through!

I don't know if there's a way to turn it off. But I get all the posts in my email too. I just delete them if it's something that doesn't interest me. The only thing I ever picked up from freecycle are a bunch of books for my homeschooling son. Most of the other stuff I don't need or it's too far for me to go any pick up.

You just have to change your group mailing settings to where you only get a digest. Then you'll just get one email with a list of the different posts instead of dozens of posts.

ya know i figured out where to go for that but then decided against it.. the stupid mod only ok's them a few times a day and mails them out late (individually) so its like everything is gone before you even find out.. it would be worse if it was once a day.. although i still cant stand all the crap im getting but if i want to have any chance at anything this is the only way to do it unless i can stalk their page 24/7

I have been on freecycle a few times. I know where I live (Chattanooga) I tend to go on Nashville, Knoxville or Atlanta as I am really in between all those cities. I usually can find most stuff in the bigger cities. I have never tried to get rid of anything on freecycle so I don't know how all the emails work. I am sure there has to be some type of preference you can set, however, I am not sure.

i found the preference area but things are usually taken by the time they send the emails out normally much less digest.. i guess if i want a chance at anything i gotta just stalk the site or deal with the crap in my inbox

freecycle is a site that in some cities (not all but some) its a group where if you want to get rid of something that you dont want anymore that is in good enough condition that its not trash but you dont feel like doing a garage sale for.. like you decided to get rid of a coffee table but obviously not enough for a yard sale and you dont want to throw it away if its in decent condition and dont have time to donate it you post that you have it and then if some one else is interested they reply and you arrange for them to get it.. you can also put if you are looking for a certain thing in hopes some one will have it.. its a way of recycling stuff that other people can use but maybe you might not have time to deal with or think its not great enough to have enough value to really bother selling it

I could see that happening. A lot of websites do that. If you want you could mark the messages as spam and then they should just go directly to your spam folder.

Yes....every so often I have to go clean them out...someone will put something up and the next person takes it then there is another emails that someone took it....so it ends up being about 3/4 emails for each item.

ugh it drives me nuts.. i see now where i could put it on digest but the stupid mod doesnt approve them often so as soon as your emailed they are usually already gone.. its like you have to stalk the site to get anything!

im in phoenix area and i just get like a digest every few days. maybe you can turn it to digest? im not sure. you would think phoenix would be over run also. the digest usually has a bunch in it. so you should go back and look at your profile and see.
