How often do you write each day?

November 21, 2010 1:30pm CST
I usually only write about 5 pages a week. However, it is my New Year's Resolution to write at least 5 pages a day, regardless of what those five pages are-- any writing is better than none! I have one novel I have just started writing, one novel that is completed but out of order, and I write many short stories. Hopefully by writing 5 pages a day, I can get more short stories pubished and have my novels ready for publication! What are your goals for how often you write?

I write articles for article writing sites, so it is not exactly the same thing as what you are doing, but I have to say that I do not write every day. I write when I have ideas and feel inspired, and it is a few times a week only. But then, on the other hand, I can write quite a lot. If I would divide my weekly average into days, I probably write 2 articles (around one page long, I guess, but they can be longer too) a day.

Hello, Karinaisfun, and welcome to MyLot. I don't count my writing in pages, it's more in words. I also write non-fiction articles rather than stories. However, I do try to average 3 - 4 500 word articles a day. Sometimes I do more, sometimes it's less, but I do aim for around 2000 words a day. Don't know if this helps you, but what I'd say is write what you feel comfortable with. The last thing you want is for your writing to become a chore, because then the enjoyment goes out of it.

5 pages a day? Wow, that is a lot of writing, I wish I had enough time to write that much! If I write 200 words a day (which is less than half a page, I think) then I'm really happy. Unfortunately at the moment I have so much going on in my life that I don't really have time to write (and I'm not counting posting to mylot, because that I'm doing in between other things as a relaxation technique). But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Good luck!

As far as I am concerned, I think I usually love to write so much in my daily life. So I usually come here to write now and then. When I have some fre time, I will turn on my computer to log into my mylot account to begin a topic to enjoy a wonderful life here. I think it can be a very good fun to be here to wtite and reply the topics. Have a nice day in mylot.

5 pages seems too much for me to manage ,though I'm in college and you know what a hectic life that is ,i still find time to right around 2 pages daily ,that consists of some poems ,personal ideas i want to save and and i guess the rest is done on mylot , it's a good practice though as it not only speeds up my typing speed but also allowes me to learn about different topics man am i enjoying it!!!

That seems an awful lot of writing to me, i only manage one page every few days but then im not looking to force words out that dont want to come. Some days the words just flow and one idea after another seems to come, although i dont bother to count how many page or words ive written during these spurts. Good luck with your ambitious total.

I usually write in my diary everyday.. just things that's happened. When I feel like i want to write a story, I will write it up but that doesn't happen so often.

I don't really have a daily goal for writing, but I wind up writing a whole bunch anyway. I usually write excerpts of my planned novels and short stories in my school notebooks while the teacher is lecturing and I'm pretending to take notes. (Shhh! Don't tell!) I keep a daily journal which I usually write at least a page in... and then whenever I'm working on a novel I usually write huge chunks of it every day. Right now I'm doing NaNoWriMo and I've been writing around 7,000 words every time I sit down to write. I hope to be a published author one day... because being able to do what I love more than anything in the world for a living would be AWESOME.

hello Karnaisfun. I do write everyday and I find it difficult sometimes. It is because I can be mentally blocked. I write academic papers though not novel. I do not know how to do creative writing. I hope I could write as many pages too. Anyway. where do you publish your work? Do you publish it online?

I had a plan to write a few ebooks on subjects that I enjoy, and some how to stuff. I haven't gotten into the habit of writing though. I can't imagine getting into the zone of doing 5 pages a day right now. That would have to be one of the resolutions I make for 2011. It'll be one of the few I intend of actually doing.

I love writing poems. Not a complicated one but just a personal poem where I could express my feelings. These poems are simply he mirror of my soul. They may appear light and simple but I say more than the meaning of each word. I can write from 10 to 30 poems a day, when I am into it. I got lots of them but got to courage to get them published since they speak about me and all about me.

I wish I had your kind of time, but I usually try to write an absolute bare minimum of a page a day--of anything, be it poems, stories, Role-playing posts or character biographies (which can get exhaustive, if you're writing them the way I do). Once I get into a good rhythm, I'll up it to two, maybe three. Then up to about five. Like push-ups--you have to get used to doing it.

first of all, i want to welcome you to the mylot community... i'm not a good writer and i don't write... i wish i am a good writer so that i can earn money from my writing... even better, if i can make my book to be published and make into a movie like Harry Potter... :-) it is just my imagination though... good luck with your goal and resolution in writing... hope you will achieve it... take care and have a nice day...

I try to write at least once a day on my diary, even though I don't always achieve it! It is very important for me, as I have already lost many years of that diary and would not like the same thing happen again! I am now writing my autobiography and those lost years would sure come in handy to me!

Seriously we have stopped writing now a days. I personally believe I should write something so that I dont loose the touch while writing. Its a good habit which I would start doing from now. Writing is a good thing, I will start with Dairy writing from today.

Ability to write is a special skill. It is not easy to all. Only few people have this ability......it's a special gift from heaven. Thank to God. I also like to write. I tried many times to write something. But i don't know what to write, how to write and for whom to write. My writing is only in mylot.

wow that's a lot! I like writing on those discussions that i only like here at Mylot. To be honest, i enjoy joining discussions here at mylot, specially if the topic i started on ,gets a lot of responses. At least, i get to practice my writing skills and get to express what stories i would like to share .
