In a town near where I live they have voted and approved that the teachers in their school system have a dress code. No flip flops, no tank, tube or halter tops, no spandex, not mini skits and no low cut shirts. I feel that this should be instituted n each and every school. The teachers in all our school systems should set a example for our children. I make my children go to school dressed respectfully to set an example. What do you think.

People change their mind all the time. We all have different perspective of what should be and should be not. Nobody is correct but someone is the one agreed upon by the majority and that is what is usually implemented. I'm cool with that decision because it doesn't bother me. We just have to adapt these changes to survive. Go against and you have enemies.

You should be able to voice your opinion with out having enemies. Thank you for your response. I do think teachers need to set an example

Voicing your opinion is not limited to wearing clothing. There are many ways to communicate/express yourself in school. People have eyes, ears, nose, and sense of touch. Our opinion can be understood even with that. I use to wear uniforms and it wasn't as bad. I don't have to think about what I should wear the next day and for the rest of the week. I think it is very convenient.

I like what you said in the post, and indeed, those teachers, especially female teachers should set a great sample for every student to follow. And student too, they should have their own dressing code within the school property. Respect is the key word here.

Thank you for your response. I know I may sound a little old fashion but It is all about respect. I have an 11 year old daughter and we have many discussions about what she can and can not wear to school I stand my ground. I do not care what the other girls are wearing you will dress respectfully she mumbles under her breath but hey she is a kid. More parents need to be involved in how their children present themselves. We really need to get back to basics of what society accepts and does not accept.

I think this should be a no-brainer for teachers. I mean, it just looks more professional for teachers to dress appropriately around kids instead of provacatively. I think it's kind of a joke that they actually had to make a DRESS CODE - because that implies that some people must not be following it!

I think it is very responsible for teachers to be setting an example for the students. If we want the students to dress respectably, then we too should dress as we expect the students to. I believe, that be having dress codes for teachers, the focus will be kept on educating the students. The majority of our high school girls wear flip flops...all winter long. I think there should be a rule addressing this, but it's not as bad as wearing tank tops.

My daughter goes to a public school that has a dress code for the students and for the teachers alike. The dress code for the teachers is a bit more lenient than the dress code for the students, but they have a dress code none the less. I think it is a great thing because I think that it keeps the school a lot more professional than it would have been otherwise. I think that is a great thing in the long run, in fact I even like the fact that my daughter's school has a dress code for the students.

Society sure is changing! My kids had a teacher who kept booze in the bottom drawer of his desk! The kids didn't say anything because they knew they had an "easy A" as part of the deal to stay quiet about it.
