Is your neighborhood safe? Why or Why Not?

I live in area that is supposedly safe but it's getting more ghetto as the days past. My block itself has had many break ins {4 times with my dad's car that parks outside} my home had a few break ins like {2} when I was home by myself let alone how many times I wasn't home but I'm not quite sure why. The community is very quiet, no loud disruptions or anything however lots of people gossip and it has happened to others too not just my home. Is your neighborhood considered safe? Why or why not?

I have had no breakins, we are safe. Our town is quite safe. Not very many break ins and maybe three murders in fifty years.

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago. My suburb was incredibly safe. I remember reading the weekly town paper and they always had a very small section on Police Reports. The police reports would consist of hubcaps being stolen from various vehicles. I always found it so amusing that the only crime they could report was stolen hubcaps. I know live down in the south, and there is little to no crime in the town that I live in. Of course I never have believed in a "safe" community because you might live in what you think is a "safe" community but that doesn't mean that people from other communities or towns won't come into your town and commit crimes. I really don't think there is anything as a safe area anymore.

I think my neighborhood is quite safe, as the guard house is just near in front of my house. If there is anything or suspicious people happen around my house or nearby, the guards will go there and take a look. Also, my neighbors are always at home or in the front yard. Also, the guards always drive around my neighborhood, hence, I think it's quite safe with someone else taking care of the neighborhood.

I think alot has to do with the Holidays. Normally around the Holidays people start stealing whatever they can get their hands on. I hope that it stops for you. I would hate to feel unsafe.

Yes, true! I hope it stops :) Usually occurs during holidays esp. Halloween because people set up pranks perhaps?

Mine is, even though I live in a big city, but the crime rate is very low. The most serious thing that happens here is that bicycles get stolen from time to time, hehe!

My neighborhood is basically safe because we live so near a police and fire station, it's a private subdivision (middle class) that has it's own private security guard, no big fuzz cause they take out the salary of the guards from our annual dues and stickers we have to pay for our cars to get in and out. Despite all this I still believe being safe rest in the hands of individual home owners, nice question

My neighbourhood is relatively very safe. It's a suburb, although not a wealthy one. Significantly working and possibly also lower middle class. But it's in a part of my city which is traditionally relatively safe. You can walk around and feel very safe; even at night. There are toughish parts; but even they are not too nerve-wracking, as long as you don't go looking for trouble and keep a relatively modest profile.

That's great! My neighborhood is safe but it's like random people from other areas come and do stuff in the middle of the night when no one knows. Not often but once in awhile usually during the holidays :( Thanks for sharing.

Yes they are safe because we have known them for 20 years and they are getting older now plus crime rate is very much low in our town. We got friendly neighbors and a nice peaceful town with lots of trees where you can relax and smell fresh air everyday.

My parents lived in our residence for over twenty years. We know the neighbors but not in detail however it's just random people from other areas who go to our neighbor and do those stuff. Anyway, thanks for sharing :)

I live in the cities, so naturally there's a lot of crime and it's - as you say - ghetto. I don't live in the WORST neighborhood, but there are certain blocks in my neighborhood to watch out for. Known dealers, gangsters, etc. You just have to be careful. I don't live in the projects but I live in a lower-middle class neighborhood, which can be dangerous at times. It's constantly seeming to be getting worse too. Ugh.

I don't want to say my neighborhood is 100% safe since there are so many bystanders or men not having any work and getting together in the evening to drink. But I have my three dogs so I feel safe.

My community is quiet too but there are days when the neighbors are really loud especially during feasts and holidays. My neighborhood is a dangerous place that's why my mom doesn't let me out when it's night, s far nothing bad happened in our house, except for the 2 r 3 times someone threw stones at our house.

I believe it is safe as there are roving guards on their bikes going around every hour in the subdivision. But then of course, we must also be careful and not leave doors open or leave laptops anywhere visible.Temptations are lurking around.

My landlords are very good people. They take very good care of me and my hubby. Our neighbourhods are also safe. Our house is located in a centrally located place and the accessebility to all the places is very easy.I love my home and Iam enjoying with my hubby so as of now Iam not bothered about my neighbourhood much.
