Television is the most widely used telecommunication medium all over the world aside from computers. In our home, television viewing is non-stop. Whether we are eating, lying on bed or doing our household chores we are viewing tv show and news at the same time. however tv can really do harm specially for young people so parental guidance is always advised. Tv show such as celebrity talk show is nothing but a medium for gossips and non-sense talks (just my personal view). What's your viewpoint regarding this issue? Do you agree that tv can do harm to us?

It can... But not always. Everything is good in moderation, is how I feel. Of course we don't want to be sitting in front of our TV and computer all day every day. That'll most likely make us both fat AND lazy and a classic portrayal of a "couch potato". It can also be harmful, I guess in other ways - mentality ways - such as with all the violence on it. But again, I think in moderation..All is good!

I think that a limited amount of watching television is fine to see programs that are interesting and worthwhile. I believe that it is harmful to watch television all day long. Parents should be careful what they allow their children to watch on television. I know that looking at and reading books are better than watching television. Going out for a walk or a bike ride are healthy outdoor activities. I prefer books and magazines to television. My favorite technology to use is the Internet on my laptop. Again doing this in moderation is fine. Here is a suggestion for a family that watch too much television. They should pick three educational programs for the children and three programs for the adults. So in one week the kids might see Something Special, Come Outside and Mr Maker. The parents might see Unreported World, Dispatches and The Secret Millionaire. They should have books available and visit their local library often.

parental guidance are the key words here. There is some absolute rubbish on TV these days. I enjoy watching some of it but not a lot. I'm more into family shows and comedies and crime shows. I'm quite shocked that my children allow their children to watch shows that would be forbidden in my home. These show are age inappropriate to say the least. Kids need to be kids and they should not be watching shows with adult content...particularly those awful reality shows. I've glimpsed them and heard about them and I really don't understand why people want to watch these shows let alone understand why they find them entertaining.

I have been saying for many years now that Television can cause harm to society. Not so much television so much as what gets broadcast on it to youngsters as they can be so sensitive and responsive to what they are watching. It has always been this way with films. I remember as a kid how I so much identified with my heros in the movies. Yes, parental guidance indictations on some programs should be taken notice of, but I don't think it is very much. _Derek

I raised a topic before on how safe is television and movies for children. It seems that even cartoon show has violence in it. Even if they show arental guidance before showing the the tv show how can we be sure that adults are always there to explain the scene to children.

i don't really think that there is that much harm from television. I do feel that sometimes we do need to watch things when younger people are around just to make sure that it is atleast age appropriate. There are many things on television nowadays and it is both good and bad. I am not a big lover of talk shows, i have seen them in the past and this is something i could not do, any problems i have i will deal with and not let all people know what is happening in my life, it seems like attention seeking to me. No matter what we always have television on or around us, we don't need to be wathching it or listening to it but we still have it on.

I think that TV does harm in several ways. It encourages us to spend money we may not have. It causes a lack of physical activity which we need to stay in good shape. It encourages snacking - just what most of us do not need. Much of the content is of poor quality. It takes away from family time. It takes away from time we could be using to be more productive in various ways. It's been proven that our brains work differently when we are passively viewing TV than when we are taking an active part in life.

Well i do totally agree with u. I have got an example in my home too. My family members are so addicted to some stupid soaps that they can leave any important work, if it clashes with tv timing. The kids in my home inherit so much from those soaps that sometimes they acts like those tv characters. They learn those stupid soap plots faster than their lessons. And for me, i don't find any thing interesting in tv. All appear to be a repeat of previous one.

Yes, the television has some gd and bad effects. First the radiation, then the violent stuff they show there. I've never seen, r rarely seen a tv show with n parental guidance on it. Everything is just not for kids anymore- even cartoons.

Television really does some harm to us. Some shows really affect children's minds and make them violent. Talk shows are useless because it focuses more on celebrities who are fighting which do no good to the people and the country. Watching TV makes us lazy because we watch the TV all day. Besides, the radiation also harms when the TV is used for the whole time. TV does some harm to the people but also to the country.

Yes i do think that television is doing bad to us. In many ways teaching us stuff we should not have been taught. But at the same time it is helping us. When I was a kid my parents did not teach me much so I always looked to the television for answers and it, for some reason, responded back. And that is how I learned to speak English. So the way television is doing bad for us it is doing good at the same time.

I think television has its advantages and disadvantages depending on your viewing habits. Watching television to much is definitely not good. Your eyes can be damaged and of course you tend to be physically inactive which is bad for health. On the other hand, television can also be used for entertainment to take out some stress, it can also be a good source of information as you watch the news and current events. So overall, it depends on the viewing habit and the programs that we are watching.

For me, television can do us harm if we let it. I watch TV a lot. Sometimes, I watch entertaining stuff like shows, movies, cartoons, and a wide variety. Sometimes, TV has educational shows and I'd say I learn a lot from them too. As for children, it's the responsibility of the parents to guide them when watching TV. That is why it's parental guidance. Parents can allow children to watch those kind of stuff but also teach the children about what they are watching, what's fiction, and what's not to immitate. Sometimes, parents can simply not allow the child to watch certain TV shows. It depends on the viewer. It's up to him/her if he/she is going to let TV do him/her harm. Happy myLotting!

indeed television is an audio and visual facilities that can make us know what is on television. and television would be useful if there is something very important happened in a remote area with us. and television will make us lose, if we keep watching television because we should not always be watching television. later that there are only damaging your eyes, even you will feel lazy to move.

The television can be very helpful and at the same time can be very harmful to everyone. TVs updates us with day to day happenings through the news. It also entertains us since watching TV programs is also one of the best pastimes. On the other hand, when the television is used extensively by the younger generation, it may be the cause of failing grades, poor eyesight and those kinds of stuffs.

disadvantages, namely: negative impacts of this magic box is much greater than the benefits provided. By sporadically, this television mental damage as well as the mindset of children indiscriminately. Television also teaches commercial culture or consumerism in children. Hobbies watching television also has adverse implications for the health agency.
