Hello Lotters, It's been a bit while since I have relax a bit, even when it comes to responding discussions or commenting responses i had a hard time doing since am all exhausted from thinking.i couldn't even think in seconds when ever i see a discussion, it takes minutes for me to do it but i guess am not a robot then so that's fine. Now, I got hooked up with a very usual lotter who rants about something similar that I also rant here in mylot. but that's up to you to look at since what interest me was something that a veteran's responded which caught my attention. I am sure most of you might say it doesn't make any difference but really this caught me off guard. We all know that mylot is a general discussion forum site for every one to talked to in terms of posting. MyLot has made the change from a discussion forum to a social site and with it came the problems that also come with a site where friendships, ranking, ratings, earnings and referrals are more important than the discussions themselves. Too bad too, it was the best discussion forum at one time, before they "improved" it. But don't get me wrong, in some ways, he was right. back in 2008, I had encounter a lot of serious discussions coming from Asians,Blacks and Caucasians here. but at the dawn of middle 2009 i started noticing the changes. that's when the Fun matters most, but fun was a good change right? Or maybe i haven't been hanging out on the other discussions lately Or avoiding them more often.. What do you Think?

Please give the source of your quotation. I, for one, strongly disagree with it. I believe that MyLot are very keen to maintain the standards of their site, as always, as a discussion forum with social networking as a benefit. This is why so many discussions get deleted every day. Most of the questions and in-house fighting about friendships, ranking, ratings, earnings and referrals come from new members who don't have a proper understanding about what MyLot is. With between 50 and 60 new members joining every day, it is an unfortunate by-product, perhaps, of the misinformation which is published in many places by people touting for referrals.

I probably wouldn't want to take issue with him but I thought that you should have posted your source simply because of copyright issues. If it was a PM, of course, that would be impossible but if is was in a discussion, you could post the discussion URL.

Hello owlings, That's nice of you to drop by, it's one i got from a lotter who was also here for a long time. though for me he had points but i think the fun side is a lot better now than in the past. would you really want to know, i hope you don't want end up arguing with them? they have their own views. there is one upgrade that I never like and that is the "fun and quizzes" until today i never even talked about it. Yeah, I also agree with the standards that you mentioned maybe he was neg. rating people(didn't say yeah, he did).i hate other people makign false interpretation about mylot. seems we couldn't find a way to get rid of them.

Hi LetranKnight, I have a vague idea about the difference between a social site and a discussion one. I joined this site in the early part of the year 2009, might be it was February. At that time too all these features like ratings, friendship etc. were there but the discussion topics were much better. But now the discussion topics do not fall into the category of discussion at all. As other activities are secondary compared to the discussion I feel mylot is known more for its discussion site. Some might have different idea.

I think the difference between discussion and social networing is that, in social networking you will be curious to know about a particular person and will connect with him/her. But a discussion means, different ppl is giving different views. Some ppl are agreeing, some are disagreeing with it. Thats all. In mylot you will be able to participate in all the discussions, but I think hardly ppl used to see somebody' profile or tries to connect with him/her personally. So its a completely discussion forum.

Hello Krajib, Well, I was here a year earlier. It's just that this is my second new account. At that time, I didn't notice the change since most people are still into discussions and other stuff. Am not sure what is the difference of others when it comes to thinking about this site. How ever, I still think this is a discussion forum site and not entirely a social networking. Probably it was noticed through discussions that are not that DEEP anymore. Have a Nice day

i think mylot is a combination of both... we can discuss topics here but at the same time make new friends here and have fun as well... that's why we don't discuss about serious topics only here but we can discuss practically everything as long as we abide to mylot rules and guidelines... take care and have a nice day...

Hello Lingli, that's exactly what i thought of i think they can't be separated or distinguish differently when it comes to mylot. it is a discussion forum way of social networking. we still make new friends here but the thing is we get to know them better as they tell their story or share what ever thoughts they have.

Actually, I think myLot is both and always has been. I have been on myLot for several years now and even when I first started you have people who had rather "shallow" discussions. But, I have found the key to finding good discussions is in your choice of friends. You do not have to become friends with everyone here. If you are selective about who you choose to have as a friend and then go to discussion section - friends started - you should find some excellent discussions to participate in. That is where I start when I come to myLot and after that I go to "my interests" which will occasionally have some good discussions going. MyLot is also a good place to go for assistance. When I wanted to learn about adding/changing computer browsers I started a discussion asking for help and I got the info I needed.

Hello Speakeasy, Well, I know for a fact that some veterans don't want to add me in their friends list but I have found their discussion to be interesting and led to many responses of others. Sadly, though I couldn't respond to some of them since it requires deep thinking, which I try to avoid these days. Well, as for you're last sentence, it proves that mylot is still a social networking in a form of a discussion forum. Have a Nice Day

I didn't visit this website back in 2008, I came here for the money therefore I must have came after the "change". I believe that this is a discussion forum rather than a social networking website though for the following reason: You can interact with people in discussions without being their friend, on most social networking websites you need to be accepted as a friend before you can talk to them. Also on Mylot, you become someone's friend because you share a view they expressed in a discussion, whereas on social networking websites you befriend someone because they a real life friend or a friend of a friend then start having discussions with them. Therefore mylot would be the inverse of a social networking website.

Hello Elixiress, That's true about you add people because some of them had been you're friend in real life. How ever, in Social networking sites, I noticed they don't really chat with you that much until you are close to them. Well, like I said in the other responder, mylot is social networking site under the impression of discussion forum setting.Have a nice day

I feel a response from me would now be appropriate, since this seems to be causing some discord. First, let me say that I don't feel it is important enough to cause such discord, "fun site" "social discussion site"...call it what you will, it is still mylot, a place for discussion and fun. While we place quality discussion as the top priority, can that itself still not be fun? I have seen a large number of high quality discussions that were still very enjoyable. Nothing has really changed at all. Mylot is still a place for fun, quality discussion. In the interest of preserving the peace and not creating confusion for new users,I will likely be removing this discussion as soon as I am certain everyone has seen my response. I do hope I have cleared things up for all of you.
