P-Noy bought himself a Porsche (Nice :D)

white prosche - not new third hand but looking good
Philippines

Hello Lotters, I know People will have criticisms behind on his Third hand (as he claimed) in his car. he said he had to sell his old car just to buy this one worth 4.5 million pesos or $107,000 US Dollars. but I almost forgot, the President is a car enthusiast. But this reminds of that case he had way back 90's where he was accused of Smuggling cars and a retired customs agent commented "So Young, yet so Corrupt". evidence? i don't think any one would dig on this knowing the Media can so bias and likes to keep things hush hush too. Well, Back to the CAR. Indeed, he is a bachelor who wants to feel young despite his age. am not sure about other CAR addicts here but some said in the net that it's not as pleasing as it used to be since there's already new set of cars but it helps reminiscence youth hood. Just a car basically for his (ehem ehem) future dates.

Hi sweetie. I cannot believe he paid that for a car. Porsche is a crappy car anyway. No offense, but is he nuts or something? He can either freaking walk, use public transport or get a bicycle. This one thought he can try the car thing here. Sorry, we don't tolerate that at all. TATA.

LOL For future dates. Haha! Porsche really is a nice and expensive car. I hope the money he used was not from the country's budget. LOL . just kidding! I know he won't!

that's what he claims, he bought it from his own money and not from the government funds...

There are no arguments that he used his own money to buy that car but I personally think that it sending the wrong signal to his country men...I'm sure he is well aware of the line from Black Eyed Peas' "Where is the love" and that's to "Parctice what you preach". How can people believe him if tells us to be wise on our expenses or that government should adapt austerity measures when he goes buying sports cars? But then maybe we're just being too hard on him because in reality all we have to do is go to congress and see all those congressmen and senators with their SUVs, even a barangar captain owns an SUV which is as expensive.

Nice point there ybong. Living in humility. But let's give Pnoy a break! Maybe, it is his way of distressing. It is so stressful to run a government. Besides he belong to the Cojuangco clan. They can surely pay for a Porsche.

He deserves it. He worked hard for it.

Hello Mimiang, I agree with ybong, it's his own money. If he did with his own salary, that would have been doubtful and would have taken years before he could buy such thing, not to mention, senseless. Anyways, thanks for you're response. Have a nice day.

He didn't work for it, it's his own money, his salary would hardly even afford a single part of that sports car.

I'm don't know if I'm going to be pleased with what he did. On one hand it's his money so he can do anything with it as he pleases. He's also a bachelor and a car enthusiast so owning a sports car like Porsche is a dream come true which don't happen very often. But on the other hand he's not just an ordinary citizen, he is after all the president of this country and it's not a good example that a president of a third world country are buying sports cars just because it's his own money while majority of his countrymen whom he is suppose to take out from poverty can't even have three meals in a day. But you know, it could be his way to make sure that his dates are best kept secret since from now on it would just be him, the chick in the confines of his sport car.

Hello Ybong, four million pesos is a lot of money, he could have just saved it to start another business. Even the Presidential Candidate I've voted for didn't have his own car. He could have done it with his Presidential Car though but am sure it's just a hobby of him that he wants to have. Besides, how can it be kept secret when he reveals the car and not to mention, IT's WHITE. For me, it's a huge question for the public him buying these and not using his car. But am sure he'll use it more often after he step down.

I agree with you ybong... that's a lot of money to spend for luxury... What he did was adding "insult to the injury"... Its like giving one scoop of ice cream to your little brother and letting him see eating a whole gallon of it. For what, just to distress yourself from running the government well?

It's okay to make himself happy once in a while, but I hope the next ones wouldn't be as expensive as this one. If I were the one to buy, I would be happy on a tuner car, probably those of Honda. Those ones are better to use for dates than that Porsche. The parts of P-Noy's choice would be expensive, and I hope his car won't be needing replacements in the future because it will burn his pocket.
• Philippines
15 Jan 11
Hello Alphenor, Yeah, that's one of the things that caught my attention now that you have mentioned it. Car parts from that is kinda expensive. Of course, he can have it change using his own pocket money. That's his choice, probably he had it bargained for am sure it would have been a lot more expensive to boot. Thanks for you're response.

Hello LetranKnight25, Aside from the fact that Porche parts are expensive, I don't think that there is a local parts supplier that have those parts so probably he'll import it from somewhere else. Never heard of the car again nor see him use it aside from that one time it was mentioned on the news.

Hmmm.. How about "THE Presidential Car"? Still refusing to use it? That would be cooler on dates. Afterall, most girls are just dating him because he is the President.
• Philippines
15 Jan 11
Hello Idle, That makes me wonder why he didn't mention that instead. That's very true he's the President and that's sole reason why they are dating him, and not because of him. Besides, the luxury car is paid by taxes n expense, it's his right. Maybe it's a retirement package forhim to enjoy but obviously not that new in 2016. have a nice day.

If I were the president I would rather prefer the presidential car, it's also a luxury car, I could have my own driver, I think limos have the privacy window where the driver can't see what taking place on the back seat, and most especially its bullet proof so matter what his going to do there no ones going to hear about it. But then If I am the president and I can afford a Porsche then just like Pnoy, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. After all, not everyone has the previlege of owning a Porshe car. IF an ordinary person can own one why should keep the president from owning one too? I'm sure it would impress the ladies.

I believe in P-noy's integrity. He learned it from his Mom. I am convinced he bought it using his own money and I believe he is entitled to it. If we do buy things that please us then Noynoy is no exception. It is just that the media's eye is always focus on the President so every thing he does can be magnified.
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello Salonga, Well, some one here did say he swapped but i don't know but why he had to pay four million pesos then? that would be too expensive if it's for the parts and some needed repairs. am sure the car is a bit expensive enough to reached that amount. oh, well i hope that's the only car he purchased for the entire duration of his administration

I know that pnoy have money to buy such luxury car. But my question why now, he is a president and did not buy when he is a senator or congressman? I smell something wrong here with the President. He always trying to tell the public about being humble and eat in the street in the US and now he buy a luxury car...?
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello Aerous, That's what I wonder in the first place. probably he got too busy with other things or it was the only opportunity for him now to purchase something that a bit cheap since cars like that are more expensive than just plain one hundred dollars well, that's about it i guess. there's going to be more surprises in the future though

I don't remember that issue, can you refresh my memory? When I heard the news, my first reaction was so what, it's his money. His life is a fishbowl and he has so little to look forward to, let him have this one. But upon further reflection, it is not becoming of a president to flaunt luxury at a time when there are so many price increases. Sure he is a car enthusiast, but he is a president first and foremost. There are a lot of things that he has to give up, or at least temporarily shelve, while he serves the public. After all, didn't he say that he will most definitely not run after his term ends?
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello advocate, Yes, he did. but we don't know until he reaches either fourth or fifth year of his term. we had already a bad experience when it comes to Presidents who don't usually keep their word. unless it's just one person who has done that in my life time.. well, it's a nice car/

Even though he is the president, as a bachelor I can't say I would critiCize him for getting this car. If as you said, it is not brand new, and he is a car enthusiast, then I don't see anything wrong with it. If he were not in public office, and he did the same, I don't think people would hear about it. For those that would criticize: I think they should just grow up a little.
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello bounce, Yeah, that's true. the car is actually third hand as he mentioned, it would have been more expensive car he could bought if he wasn't the president. but he's wife, buying a third hand, at that price? i think he's wise though he has a business minded for buying his favorites but cheap car

Hello Lady, Well, we have the right to criticize our President even in some smaller details. Even with his relationship, things can be really publicize even if he begs not to have it in the talks. The problem is that not just the people but Media do make a big deal out of this thing, then when they have nothing much to review then they sensationalize the news. That's the way it is with them. have a nice day

I don't get why people discuss politicians actions when it's not up to a vote! Politicians love to see their name in print. Positive or negative words keeps their name on the public's mind, which is step one to getting a vote! Does anyone realize he may have done this to do just that?

17 Jan 11
Hello cqui, I don't know but there's still a lot of issues i wanted to clarify with the President, the party and "the media" who supported him indirectly during 2010 elections. stuff like that, but of course, now that the so called honey moon is over. such issues are being talked about since they indeed need something to talk about him since he's not seen corrupt, not yet anyways
@graxcrix (19)

on my opinion, i dont think a government official will buy an expensive things like that in front of the people if he is using the county's money to buy it..its logic!before we forgot, he came from a decent & wealthy family as well so can really afford to buy expensive things like that..being a president of a country was not that easy..the fact that he is a car enthusiast, i think he deserve to have it for he had no wife or children to spend his money with not even a lovelife..maybe it serves as an inspiration for him to work hard..according to his sister Kris Aquino, what makes the president happy let's just support him for a happy president is a happy country..=)
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello Graxcrix, Yes, he does, would have been a lot more if he wanted to. but of course, since he represent the entire country, should have been more decent or he should have bought that earlier than before he became the President. even that car requires a lot of gas to run or maybe a few since the oil price hike is at it again
• Philippines
14 Jan 11
If he just gets the car for his own personal use, fine. I dont care what the brand of the car is, porsche or whatnot, as long as it is durable and can run. If it were just for his collection then thats fine as well. However there have been issues mentioned above on how he got his car. but either way, I dont see any benefit or disadvantage from this. But there's always the media with its restless gossips...
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello megalocluster, It's not a gossip, real though but there should be reporting other important issues than just the presidents personal stuff, he's not doing anything wrong for now. as for the car, it will face a bit scrutiny if the car was more expensive than mere four million pesos. yeah, we don't see benefit only feeds on negative views from the people of this country.

Well let me get my violin out for him and start playing him a sad song to go along with his sad tail.. Imagine having to sell another care to buy a $107,000 car. I am so sad for him and feel so badly for him. I am just kidding of course. It is just funny that is what some people pay for a whole house.

Hello Ladym, Yeah. actually, there's something a lot worse, one President, bought a lot of house, not just for himself but for all of his mistresses.

Hi, Knight. Ehem! I am not really fond of our President but I'm not one of his critics, either. But, the latest issue about his car got me curious a little bit. Well, he bought the car just before Christmas and when no good news to his so called 'lovelife' was in its peak. I think he bought this for flaunting, ei, must be for the sake of his dates. He also said that he needed to relax for sometime, thus, making him have those 'good decisions'.Having that car would make him feel relaxed perhaps, but I wonder if he'd ever really come up with a good decision. Another irony in this story is it seems that other people are more interested about his lovelife than his governance. Just a thought,we have noticed that the no good thing about his love life and we seem to look forward to something good might happened but how about the government? What has he done that's really good for our country?
• Philippines
15 Jan 11
Hello Eureka-Femme, Maybe it can be, but I think it's more of a hobby since he's into cars when it comes to interest. I can say that cars like that aren't that new anymore but I do believe that if he really want something expensive, then he could have bought something a lot more new than the porsche. Although, how can he relax with a car that still also relies on fuel that rises it's amount ever single year. Other people have nothing else to criticize so they turn into other things.

Actually he did not bought a new Porsche. The Porsche he got was second-hand, and he swapped his old BMW to get his hand on the car. So that means he did not shelf out a lot of money. I dont really see anything wrong with having a luxury car if you can afford it and most of all, if you did not steal or did anything illegal to obtain it. I'd rather have a President that drive a second-hand Porsche with 0 pesos Filipino money than an ex-president who dined in a luxurious NYC restaurant and other corruption costing millions of hard-earned Filipino money.
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello Greenpeas Wait? I though he said it was third Hand otherwise, that would have still been new still. yeah, i do agree with you're point there with the expensive dinner of the Arroyo, too bad, that proves their corruption, and they didn't even got jailed for iti hope the president uses his car well.
• Philippines
13 Jan 11
It is difficult to be a public figure because then, nothing escapes the media. When I saw the news and my daughter made a comment, I simply said, be reminded that he comes from a moneyed family and can more than afford it. Though it might touch the sensibilities of others. If he wasn't the president or a public figure, this would pass unnoticed. He would just be another rich guy.
• Philippines
17 Jan 11
Hello figurativeme, Yes, it's really hard most specially if you came from a very well known popular and political family. he's not that rich compare to others, but of course, he represented the Filipino people. well, having a third hand car is not a big deal but of course, he's a public official, the highest among every one in the government so criticism won't give him exception

15 Jan 11
Hello Zenkey, That is the usual reason that I used to say when ever politicians buy something. Unfortunately, it would have been better if politicians with lots and lots of money can just put up their own entreprenurial schools or support funds for those who wanted to start even with a small kind of business. Four million pesos is a large sum of money for me, so even the locals would be so doubt why he bought it even though it's his right.Yeah, didn't like him too specially during the elections
