Listed as promises kept by President Obama's administration are the following: 1. Passage of the Recovery Act, which saved and created more than 3 million jobs, provided the largest middle-class tax cut in a generation, made landmark investments in clean energy, infrastructure, and education; 2. Made critical investments in GM and Chrysler, saving tens of thousands of jobs .. and perhaps the companies -- spurring a rebirth of the American auto industry; 3. Wrote into law student loan reform and credit card reform, ending the worst abuses of the banking industries making lending fair for Amercian families; 4. Put two new Sup.Ct. justices on the bench -- Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan -- bringing rich and diverse experiences to the Court; 5. Begun to reset America's relationship with the international community -- from the ratification of a new START nuclear arms treaty with Russia to tough new sanctions on Iran to strengthening long-term partnership with a unified Iraq; 6. The repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" ... creating an abiding sense of justice; 7. Passed the historical health care reform "Affordable Care Act" ... already helping Americans who might otherwise be arbitrarily dropped from health care coverages because of pre-existing conditions ... helping seniors who fell into the "donut hole" of prescription drug costs ... allowing young adults to remain on their parent's coverages until age 26 ... helping small business owners trying to compete with large employers while providing insurance to employees ... and more ... The list is longer ... I bring these few whihc were listed on a communique from VP Biden. Would you say that these are historical and productive promises kept to the American people in the little time span of 2 years?

..Hi there gladys46, I see you like battling with people who have no intention of believing that President Obama has done anything, anything that is in anyway positive at all. It is interesting to read the stance people take when they refuse to be convinced of things that may be real but they do not want to have any part of. It doesn't matter what you say, their arsenel is filled with more crap than there is crap to be had, if that is possible. I certainly hope that you enjoy the banter because it gets a bit sickening to read the mass of negativity placed on a platter of distain and pure obnoxiousness to be handed out to anyone who likes putrid tibits. Enjoy, it's all interesting. Take care. Cheers.

Hahaha ... now, you have given me my best guttural laugh of the day so far! It is interesting how some people absolutely enjoy that condition of denial! Even when their assertions are not supportive by the facts! Yupps, I enjoy the unfettered banter ... the hyperbole, not so much! I promise to play nice!! lololol!!

Yeah but he failed to close Gitmo. Which was a big one in his last campaign. Also he failed to stop the Patriot Act...enfact he expanded it...which was another big one in his last campaign. And he failed to allow 7 days before a vote on bills so the public would have time to read the bills and offer feed back to their elected officials. Another big one...And more transparency...another big failure. He had some wins...he had some losses. Those losses will be used against him in his re-election. It just depends on if his wins are more meaningful than his losses. Also I don't think he can count the healthcare bill as a "win". A huge chunck of the American public are not happy about that bill and how it was passed. It was very polarizing. Which could count against him.

Yes, lilwonders you mention issues that our President did not address to the liking of many. I think those "Gitmo" issues were more than just a notion once our President actually got into the thick of it. The Patriot Act ... wow, that was some "Act" ... huh?? In the health care reform, we'll need to wait for many of the additional benefits offered, ... as well as any savings that claim to reduce the deficit to effectuate before we know just how the entire bill polls!

Oh, btw lilwonders ... if you ever went to the President's website, you could have witnessed historical transparencies ... I do believe that President Obama's administration used the internet historically wise! I believe that President Obama's brilliant use of the internet announced to "many" just how it's done! I also read with interest many proposed, incomplete bills as amendments were being offered, as changes occurred ... online. I think that too was very good transparency at work.

I am curious Gladys, how do you determine "jobs saved" you cant. and 3 million? according to whom? Biden? Regarding car companies - are you kidding me? they are moving to Mexico on our dime! ending the worst abuses of the banking industries making lending fair for Amercian families; - how is that? By not giving ANY credit and sending our money overseas. - that worked well. I am going to leave alone the Supreme Court Justices because that isnt even worth discussing. America's relationship with the world? really? How is Pakistan going? How about Iran? Lebanon? Israel? Afghanistan? Iraq? China and Russia are "playing along" for the moment - barely. And then there is Healthcare reform - I am too tired to argue this one with you again. We will just have to agree to disagree, you can pay my taxes for this and reap the rewards. Here are a few more accomplishments - along with the healthcare, he is hindering small businesses with his mandate and the 1099 issue - this affects me directly. spending money on monkey research and unused buildings. How about Gitmo? How about immigration? Oh yeah, according to DHS, our borders are the safest they have ever been. Because they said so Rising food, gas and energy costs. Millions dropping off of unemployment with NO income at all. Foreclosures. TSA running amok Reporting to the largest group of civil rights violators, our short comings oh yeah and didnt he win a grammy or somethin?

Just a really really quick comment on the GM and Chrysler bailout you mean saved two failed businesses I mean really these two companies fail because they where unable to beat the other auto companies we should of let the market do its thing an trust me those people would of gotten their jobs back just they wouldn't be working for companies that in the near future will again fail. They would be working for a sucessful company like Nissan, Toyota or Ford.

In a recent poll, the majority of those who said they were likely to be in the market to buy a car in the coming year said they would probably buy a Ford. One reason stated is that Ford took no bailout money and has thrived anyway. Also, buying American was listed as being as important as getting a good deal.

I know...we bailed out companies because they couldn't compete in the market. Well if you are not making a product people want....how is the business going to survive long term? We should have let them fail. If you are not judging the market correctly and making products people actually want...than do you really deserve to be in business? We rewards bad business practices.

...Hi Adoniah, Well I guess the historians are in a surreal world as well. They have Mr. Obama at this moment as the 14th or 16th best President of all the presidents we have had. So all of the negativity that is being poured out on him is certainly not affecting people who deal with reality and what is getting done. Pitiful the shortsightedness of people and their thought process. Now rant on the fact that you feel the historians don't know what they are talking about. "o) Makes sense to me. Cheers.

In fairness to President Obama he has done much for the United States as well as the International Community. But I think if he made promises and the claimed to achieved in a span of time that is not reasonable. This is why his critics have been attacking him in terms of why the change his promised is not on schedule. They do not see that the change they are asking is nothing short of colossal and there are bound to be delays.

No, most of his critics don't like the change that he is presenting. However, the extreme left does think he is moving way too slowly.

I think PSTordilla, to deny that President Obama's successes have been not been so and not been in the best interest of the American people at home and abroad is just not being fair. I believe the president produced a great deal for our nation ... and, he did it with little and no assistance from the other political side of the aisle ... where he could compromise getting as much of the work done for the people, he did. That in my estimation is a "realist" !
