Have you ever wondered why are there always a "villain" in every movies? What ever the genre of the movie is (may it be comedy, horror, suspense, animated etc) villains are always present. Actually, for me, villains is the most important character in a movie. They make the story even more exciting. They are always the one who starts the conflicts of the story. They even are the one the causes the suspense and the climax of the story. Just imagine a story without a villains, there will be no excitement or suspense or climas. The movie will be very dull. What do you think about this?

Yes, villains spice up the movie story. And they get prettier and prettier. Though they get into my nerves sometimes!

Exactly, if an actor who plays the villain is able to make you hate the character, that means the actor has successfully portrayed the character.

yes, i know that! That's why i am amazed at actors who can really act so well, as protagonist or antagonists. But i think, it's more difficult to act an antagonist or a villain.

Of course there has to be a villain of sorts in every moviwe or book. It doesn´t even have to be an evil character: it can be something inside you. Everyone of us fight everyday with inner or outer demons. Movies depict that fight and that´s what makes them interesting.

I like it when you said that everyone of us is fighting with our inner demon. Yes we can say that movies really depicts our everyday life. It could be the symbol of our everyday life. Thanks for your comment.

Without villains, there would be no movies to watch, stories to read and dramas to cry with. hahaha. Whether villains are poor or ugly they really make the story exciting. It is actually the villains where the story goes around. The story cannot be successful without them. I remember the story of "Bourne Identity" by Ludlum where he is the villain. That story is very interesting as Bourne lost his identity.

Yes. Villains are really exciting, especially when the villains have a serious attitude.

I agree that Villains are pretty important in every movie. There would be no point in making a story if there was no anti- protagonists. Even in real life, there's always a "villain".Life would be pretty boring, and movies without them.

I agree it would not only be dull it would be boring as there would be nothing to look forward to and or challenge. Personally it would not be a top listed film and or most want to have see type of film.

I think a movie isn't good if there isn't conflict. It doesn't have to take the form of a straight-up villain per-say, but some sort of force or entity the protagonist has to struggle against. There isn't always a villain in every movie you watch, and the presence of a villain doesn't guarantee good conflict. On the other hand... what if the hero was missing? Well then the story would be equally boring. It would just be a slaughter, not a struggle. I think struggle is the point. I like a good vs. evil showdown.

You are right, a story or a movie should be composed of 2 characters (the bad and the good) which will eventually create a conflict. If there is no hero, there will be a dull story. Likewise, if there is no villain, there will a dull story too. What i want to emphasize is that in the story, villains have more interesting character than the heroes. Thank you for commenting

Yes they do. Drama of any kind is aobut conflict so every story needs a anganiist. someone must be a bad guy or the story would just be plain boring.

Without a villain, it's going to be a reality show. And even then, in reality shows there are subtle villains like American Idol has Simon Cowell and now that Simon is gone, American Idol is not the same anymore.

Whether it's a movie, TV show, book, play, or short story, every good story has a "good guy" and a "bad guy." Without the conflict or tension between characters, (or sometimes within one character) there wouldn't be much of a story. And, although people usually cheer for the "good guy", they can relate to the "bad guy" as well--that's what makes the villain often more interesting than the hero.

One more thing, there is always a mysterious - side to the villains character which makes them even more interesting.. Thank you for the comment.

There could be a movie, but the thing is it could be dull.
