How much do you spend on food and micellaneous for your household? Do you over spend on food sometimes? How many times do you shop a month or a week? I normally shop food once a week and I spend close to 100 dollars on food each week for my family - we have 4 memebers. I shop the other household items like trash bag, dog food, kitchen items etc those micellaneous every month and it costs probably another one hundred. What about you? Any ideas?

We spend about P1,500.00 to P2,000.00 on groceries every two weeks so I'm guessing P3,000.00 to P4,000.00 each month.

First of all, I am a big boy. A big, strong boy, who loves to eat, and has a monster appetite. I eat as much in one day as a family. Having said that, my grocery shopping is quite expensive. I go to the store (at least try to go) once every two weeks, usually on payday, but I can spend around 300 dollars on myself every two weeks. Yes, I eat like a horse, and that is a lot for one person to spend on themselves. I always ate a lot because I played football and lift weights which meant I stayed hungry. Now that I am bigger, stronger, and heavier, my appetite is an animal. When I go to the grocery store, people look at my shopping cart ask if it's for a big family, and I tell them it's for me. Muscles need fuel, and it is easy to tell that it's working because I am so big and my food portions have grown. I used to drink a gallon of milk a day, but now, I buy a gallon of milk, and drink it before I get to my car. I am not upset that I spend so much money on food because I like to eat, because I need the fuel, and that I can clean out my fridge in one meal (kidding!), or that I have a bigger appetite than a family.

That is good. I always feel happy to see people like to see especially eat my cooking. You must eat a lot of meat and it is good that meat gives you lots of protein and energy to build up the muscle. Yes 3oo dollars on food for two weeks is quite a lot, I spend little less than that for a two people family. I wish my husband likes to eat as much as I do because I always like to eat and always want to cook haha! Thanks for youre response!

I know I spend a lot on food, but I have a ravenous appetite to maintain. I like that I can consume so much food to tie me over for a bit (nowadays, it seems as if I am constantly hungry). I had this thing since I was a teenager (big appetite) lifting weights (bigger appetite), playing football (eating like a horse), and moved heavy stuff at work (turned into a horse). As you can probably tell, I am an actual guy, you know, the ones that actually don't mind growing muscle, not the skinny twigs. About the protein consumption, yeah, I do go through quite a lot of meat. Especially since I have this uncanny ability to eat an entire pack of steaks by myself. My family fears that I will be hunting for my own food shortly. My worst habit is milk. I am addicted to it. I love to drink it, and I consume quite a bit of it. I have always drunk a lot of milk, but the amount I consume is not human. My family do not like to drink milk, nor can they handle it well, but I am the complete opposite. I can easily drink a gallon in minutes and not get sick. Lately, I have been going through 2 gallons a day. My dentist talked about how much bone density is in my teeth from the x-ray (Wonder how did that happen). I mostly drink it after a hard day of activity, but at that point I am craving it and will destroy a gallon. I am not ashamed of this, but it does draw attention and compliments, and questions from people on the street. I like how relaxed I feel after drinking milk, and how I feel my body absorbing it (probably why I am so big, strong, and heavy). The fact that I spend as much on milk as I do on gas proves that I am not human.

I most usually spend about thirty-five a week when I make my regular grocery trip. However there are times when I must stop and pick up something that I have forgotten, something I need to finish the makings for a meal, or something like milk that you cannot stock up on ahead of time. So altogether perhaps I spend forty-five dollars a week. On the miscellaneous household items, it is probably the same as you, about the amount of a week's grocery bill but for the whole month. So, for a grand total of my monthly groceries and miscellaneous items, it is probably around two hundred and twenty dollars. Then again, there are times when I splurge for a special meal or I have to make an extra dish for a carry-in. In the summer when we all get together at a friend's house once a week, this can get pretty expensive. Interesting discussion, mermaidivy. Thanks for starting it and helping me to analyze my budget. Good luck to you!

That's not bad. It is always endless to do grocery shopping, like I only need to get some paper goods this month, then nextr month, I will have to get laundry soap, next month will be dish washer soap... and they are all not cheap.

We spend mostly on food & with baby around, that means extra. We budget about say maybe about $180 or so after conversion. That's for food alone. With everything I think it's around $300

Yeah, most definitely. That's why we've cut down the disposable diapers & use more clothe diapers ( microfibre ), that saves quite a lot.

It depends on the weeks. We usually try to do our groceries every two weeks, and we usually spend maybe 100-150 dollars. Sometimes, it's a little more than that, but that's just an average.

I only buy food for myself - me and my lonesome - so I'm actually pretty cheap - maybe $100 a month or LESS usually actually. As far as miscellanious items, I tend to just buy things whenever I run out (I have no concept of 'thinking ahead' in this sense) and I barely ever keep track of my expenses so...I couldn't tell ya on that part. LOL

right now we are on a serious budget, as it is we havent spent much at all the last few months because my husband is in between jobs....we have learned of a food donation near our area and got our groceries from there this past month and thanks to our families they have also helped out...so I would have to say that we spend 0.00 right now. when we get back on track, for groceries we will spend around 200.00 a month, but we are a family of 5, our newest addition (baby boy) is only 3 months so he doesnt eat but he is on formula and needs diapers and that adds up quickly!! Groceries is at least one thing you can cut back on when you are on a budget. Happy mylotting.

We go shopping every 2 weeks, on average. Since my husband lost his job, we have had as little as $80 to spend for 3 of us for 2 weeks. On a GOOD week we can spend $120 for 3 of us for 2 weeks.

Hi Mermaidivy It varies a bit but I keep it in the range between 125-135 per week with a family of 4 and that often includes non grocery items such as toilet paper, toothpaste lotion etc... I go to the dollar store and buy a lot of our personal care needs and also we don't eat beef or pork just chicken and fish and turkey so we save a lot of money on meats we buy a lot vegetables and rice, cereals etc

I have a family of 4 with 2 kids. We usually do groceries every two weeks and it can range from 100 -200 depending on what is needed but i separate my shopping I do meat and vegetables at local fresh place( the place I go is cheaper than supermarket and fresher) and everything else at a grocery store or a mass merchant and buy in bulk for items like paper towel, toilet paper, soap, tooth paste, etc. I love it when they have my brands in bulk at good prices.

I know it is a better deal to do bulk purchase because it is cheaper but it just feels like you have to pay more which is not true.

Yeah our household is very similar to yours. 4 members and we spend around a hundred dollars a week, although we try to conserve everything we buy and eat everything in the fridge. Sometimes the bill gets a little high when I start looking at good seafood or exotic juices or something cause I'm a bit of a health nut and foods one of the things I feel good about spending on.

Since I still got two kids to feed, I have to buy lots of diaper and milk and probably have to spend to a max of $200 a month. Not to mention, common grocery stuff for household use.
