Everytime a headache

Late last summer per our insurnace I am entitled to a new pair of glasses and eye exam. So I got my exam and picked out my frames (same as I have just diff color) and waited for them to come in. I don't know if this is something can persue anymore BUT after wearing them a while I get a headache and I don't mean like wearing them half the day but for say 30 min or so. I know it takes time to get used to them but every time I put them on I end up with a headache. I think they are too strong, though I don't recall him saying that my vision had changed much if at all. So I don't know what I should do or if I can do anything at all as it has been some time. But I keep trying to wear them to get used to them and I just can't. I've been wearing my older glasses because I have no issues with them other than the lenses aren't the best of shape. Should I call the eye Dr? And if I do what could they do for me other than say I'm SOL? I like my frames there's just something not right about this script.

Labs make mistakes! They could have ground your lenses wrong or even mixed up your order. Definitely call the doctor and tell him your problem. He should be able to check your lenses and see if they are the right prescription. He may recommend that you send the glasses back and have them ground differently. Definitely call him!

I say call the Dr. and get them checked out. As another user said, they very well may have been ground wrong, or the dr. may have written the prescription wrong. Most eye Dr.s wan to make sure you are satisfied with the product, and if they are the wrong prescription it can actually do damage to your eyes if you continue to try and "get used to them" Hopefully the doctor's office will try and make things right for you, but if for some reason they can't/won't, at least you have the frames, which are the most expensive part of any pair of glasses. If the eye doctors WON'T do anything to try and fix these, might suggest using a different eye doctor next year when exam time comes around? Oh, an i just want to include this other tidbit of info that i try to pass along to people i know who wear glasses. (this is not a referral link or anything like that, just an awesome online store that people should know about) There is a website www.eyebuydirect.com Where if you have your current prescription for your lenses, you can get brand new pairs of glasses, shipped to you, for as little as $20 (frames and single vision lens's included) they also have a program where you can upload a picture of your self and virtually "try on" the frames to see how they would look on your face. I personally have not ordered glasses from here (yet), but i plan to with in the next few months, as i am in need of an updated prescription. I have friends who order all their children s glasses from this site, as they can afford to get a couple of pairs, so that they can have a backup/spare if a pair gets lost of broken. Good luck with getting this straightened out!!

sounds like you may have the same problem i do. my distance vision is really bad,but my up close is fine. if i try to read up close, after awhile i get a headache. so,i take them on and off when i use them. i have been begging them for bifocals for years, and they keep saying i'm "too young", which is BS.a 90 yr old and a 6 yr old can have the same degree of sight, regardless of age.

3SnuggleBunnies I would really go back as perhaps in grinding them an error was made and you should not have to suffer because of that. it sounds to me like the prescription must have been read wrong and they made them too strong. according to my insurance they must make glasses and custom shoes right if an error has been made and I would bet yours is the same way. it would not hurt to go to your eye doctor and tell him what happens to you when you wear them for just a short period. good luck and God bless.

If somewhere along the line they gave you the wrong prescription you should call them and let them know. It most likely wasn't the eye doctor's fault but rather the person placing the lenses. I'm not sure how the prescription for lenses work anymore and so I don't know they are "graded" so to speak. It's better to call and confirm, and if by chance that is the wrong prescription from the getgo, another appointment should be made, though I would say not billed to your insurance, though I doubt there's little you can do there.

The fact that they did the examination and made the glasses means that they are liable for it. Therefore, since the new glasses are giving you a headache every time that you wear them, you should be able to go back and explain to them what is happening. It could be that the prescription is the right prescription but they aren't properly centered for your eyes. My husband had that happen to him the last time that he needed to get new glasses. They fixed them for him free of cost because it was their mistake.

I think I would go to the eye doctor again and have him check it. They can have the lenses re ground. Just explain to them what has been going on. They can even put it on a machine and see if it matches what the doctor wrote as a prescription. The frames are paid for, the lenses are paid for, even if they had to be reground and you owed something it would not be very much at all. You certainly cannot go on wearing these.

If there's something wrong, you ought to be able to do something, although they may have set a time limit on it (ie one month), in which case you may be SOL.

It you brought a pair of shoes and couldn't wear them you would take them back so for goodness sake take your glasses back to the eye doctor.

I would say that you should go to the eye doctor and complain that the eyeglasses perhaps are way too strong due to the headaches, normally they would take that into consideration and redo them. However time of limitation is of the essence. Although the insurance paid for them, I would say to the eye doctor that you will be complaining to your insurance as there is no way you can use them and maybe the insurance would entertain an appeal. If it is a caring eye doctors office I am sure they will exchange and redo as many are there to help their patients so they keep coming back. Best of luck and go ahead and at least call the office.
