I've had a headache since yesterday afternoon. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. About once a month I get these headaches/migraines that last for about two days. I usually wind up taking Tylenol to get some relief. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. Does anyone know of any natural ways to stop a headache quickly and keep it away? I really don't want to take any pills.

Hi, Shar...I have a constant headache because of misalignment of my neck and cervical spine. I have to take some kind of medication 3X/day. But other than meds I have to lie down in a dark, quiet room. No tv, radio or any kind of noise. Sometimes I use a warm pack on the back of my neck and a massage. I try to use relaxation methods that I have learned over the years. If I can get the muscles relaxed and out of spasms the pain usually eases. But it never goes away. Hope you're feeling better now.

I am a major headache sufferer and there is not a day I do not get headaches. I have for several years unexplained headache for which all my testing has come out negative. I find Excedrin is the ONLY over the counter pain medication that completely helps as Tylenol, Aleve and all others seem to tickle and never alleviate. I have never tried home remedies, but I searched a bit and found this: http://www.relieve-migraine-headache.com/headache-home-remedies.html There are some tips there for which I have bookmarked and maybe you and I can both someday call the headaches a thing of the past.

I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering every day with them. It must be so frustrating when the doctor's can't come up with any reasons why you get them that often. I have a friend that swears by Excedrin. In fact she takes one every day so that she doesn't get a headache. I would try it but my doctor says to stick with acetaminophin since ibuprofin doesn't go well with a medication that I'm on. I will definitely take a look at the link you provided. Thank you for your input.

Since Excedrin contains, Acetaminophen, Aspirin and Codeine. You might want to try black coffee with your Acetaminophen which might just help you through. I am recommending this simply because I was totally out of Excedrin and has a hard time and another member brought this to my attention since I had acetaminophen at home. Best of luck.

have you talked to your doctor about them? they could be caused by hormones, have you noticed if they happen in any particular point in your cycle?

I have talked to the doctor about them. Had a couple of tests done. Everything was normal. I don't think I've had my hormone levels tested though. I seem to get the headaches either right before, during or after my period. Also I hardly ever get any headaches in the summer.

Have you tried aspirin? One reason we get headaches is because our arteries are constricted and aspirin thins the blood and relaxes the arteries and veins. Has your doctor said why you get these headaches? I hope you feel better soon!

I haven't tried aspirin. I've had a few tests done with normal results. I'm thinking I need to get my hormone levels checked. Thanks for your suggestion.

Oh my..headaches are terrible and to the degree you are having it..well..medicine might be the best option...but if you could figure out what is causing the headache..you might be able to treat it with alternatives.

I only wish that I knew of a natural way to get rid of headaches. I'm lucky that I don't suffer from them on a regular basis, however, when I do get a headache it is nearly debilitating to me because it hurts so bad and makes me feel so sick. What makes it worse for me is the fact that I'm pretty much immune to ibuprofen because I had to take so much of it when I was a teenager because of the TMJ that I've had since that time.

Hello Shar. Nice to see you. Sad to know that you have been having the migraines problem. Here is a way you might try to get rid of it. People suffering from migraine have tried it and some of them were able to get rid of the problem totally. Some do get some relief any way. It is "yoga meditation". Practise meditation regulary, say 30 minutes a day, at any time possible and convenient for you. Meditation helps relieving mental and physical stresses. And, that will help relief from headaches/migraines.

Hello Shar, How are you now? I presume you already consulted medical attention for your headaches. As for me, as much as possible i dont take any pill if ever i felt something in my body. I prefer the natural ways. In your case. I may say that you try to change your life style though i dont know whats your life style is. By changing includes the food you take daily. Take much fish and veges and water. Find your comfortable position and try to have space for yourself alone listening to subliminal music and a quit time thinking nothing but listening the flow inside our body.

Hey, My wife also suffers from migraines so when she does get an attack, she takes a pain killer and rests for an hour in a room with no light and sound... migraines seem to intensify with light and sound, so the best thing you do after taking your medication is to give your eyes some relief...

HI Shar19, You should pay attention on what time of the month you get the headaches. If there's something that you are only eating that time of the month. My sister was having migraines she went to the Dr.s and found out it was the red coloring they put in some foods. Go into a dark room until it goes away. Just try to pay attention on what brings it on. If it doesn't get better go to the Dr.s to find out why. I hope you start to fill better.
