How do Deaf people's thoughts come to mind?

When I think, I think in words, like a voice in my head (before you go off, yes, the voice is my own ;~D). Kind of like a "mind's ear" instead of a minds eye. So that got that voice asking me, if Deaf people can't hear words, how do their thoughts come to mind?

Most deaf people can read, maybe they 'see' the words in their head.

hi para ted yes thats the puzzling questions. When I get thoughts' they are like words on paper and sometimes I think in words. I know in college I aced exams because I had what the psychologist called photographic memory. I remembered the facts like a snapshot of my notes and just whizzed through. Good question but am not sure I can come up with a valid answer. My hearing is not perfect but neither 'am I deaf. this will be ingteresting to see what others have to say,Maybe they do photograph images into their minds.

I have never thought about my thoughts before but now you have got me thinking (??!!??) I do not hear my voice or any sound it is more like a silent brain transference between what my eyes are registering and what my brain is injecting into silently into my thoughts. I guess a deaf myLotter could answer your question.

Probably the same way I do.. when there's no more moisture "down under".. I don't know if I've ever looked at the toilet paper...

As far as I know, the average person looks at the paper. I have just wondered this.

I am really hoping that there is a deaf mylotter who will enlighten us! I don't think I usually "hear" my thoughts, though, because when I want to see if something makes sense, I have to say it our loud to hear how it sounds.

Very interesting question. But I don't know if everyone thinks the same way as you do. For example, sometimes my thoughts come to my head as if they were being typed on a typewriter. Other times, I think in images. But I think I'm in the minority so who knows.

What a thought provoking question! Hmm...I have no idea and I'm not sure how one could even ask a deaf person or should I say how they could answer it. I don't mean because they couldn't hear us asking; I hope you know what I mean because it's hard to explain...lol! If someone has been deaf since birth, they wouldn't know what any sound sounds like. When they learn to read, they still don't actually know how a word sounds, just how it's spelled and what it looks like on paper. Annie

That's such a good question, I've actually wondered the same thing before. If someone was deaf their whole life they wouldn't know what words sound like. While people like us do tend to think in words because that's how we communicate.
