I Am Still Suffering With Migraines

On and off for like the last 3-4 weeks now more often than not, I have endured a headache. A lot of them have definately been of the migraine kind and are no fun for sure. I wish they could disappear for good. I have tried many different kinds of meds for them, and some work better than others, but the nausea left behind with some of them have been miserable.
I am getting ready to try Relepax now as Imitrex worked but the rebound headaches were worse than the beginning migraine. It seems like things that used to work now have no real effect on my headaches as well. I am getting ready to see a Neurologist on April 6th which could help explain a little more of this, and maybe in turn get me some Tests or further answers on what I can do from here.
All I know is does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions in other things I could consider? I have had to miss a lot of work in the process because of this, and just tired of everything for sure. Sometimes I wish I was rich enough I could afford to stay home and get some more sleep and see if that would help as well. (I am able to sleep but tired of headaches all the time). Continued thoughts and Prayers are much appreciated as well.

My oldest brother suffered from migraines, too, and never found a way to rid himself of them. He would occasionally drink some herbal tea but I don't know what it was, and he said that it helped a little, as did taking an aspirin that thinned the blood and helped it move through the vessels and veins more easily. Nothing seemed to really help except to wait it out.
I do know that it can make your blood pressure skyrocket and that can lead to a stroke if you're not careful. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope the neurologist has something that will help.

I have been keeping a close eye most of the time on my BP as I know that that can be a factor in how I feel, and still taking my BP meds as prescribed. I just sometimes hurt so bad on both sides of my head, etc. I want to scream and not sure what to do next. Thanks for the Prayers.

Awwh sorry to hear about the repeated migraines, sounds like me that once my system gets use to a medication it stops working completely.
I am happy to hear you are visiting a neurologist, hopefully something will suggested that will soon dissipate the migraines.
Outside of what I had suggested before about tying something tight around you head to maintain the pain from shifting nothing else seems to help me.

Well, it has now been a week Free of headaches. I finally tried relepax and it seemed to remove my migraine and things have been a lot better. Just now have an infection that I am taking antibiotics for as well, so lately it is always one thing after another.

Have you checked with your Doctor yet about the Relepax? I have only had one day with a migraine since trying it, and it was able to go away right away as well with this. Also going to try taking something else to see if it helps that is supposed to help with keeping headaches away as well.

I am so sorry this is happening to you. It seems that many things that work for awhile eventually end up as causing rebound headaches, and it is good that you understand this. I am glad that you will be seeing a neurologist, as that may be the only place to get an answer. I wonder if you have developed an allergy to something. I keep telling people to take a magnesium supplement, but it will not work immediately, and I am not a doctor. It is just what seemed to help me. On the other hand I have never had the kind of trouble you are having. Ginger is good to relieve nausea, like ginger ale, or candied ginger or even just plain ginger from the spice aisle.

Well, I have tried ginger in the past and it only for me makes the Nausea worse to where I throw up. I did get something from my Doctor for the nausea and looking forward to seeing what my Doctor will say this next time if I have to go back, and what the neurologist will say. I am also considering going and getting some magnesium somewhere today and start taking it and seeing if this brings much of a change as well.

I have been taking the magnesium from time to time, and actually in the last couple of weeks had one migraine that only lasted the one day. I forgot to mention it when I seen the neurologist as she also recommended trying something else like I tried once before to see if that helps, and then go from there. Personally anything anymore is a help for sure.

I certainly hope that your doctor and neurologist can help you. You may want to check with your doctor when you add supplements since you are diabetic. I just know that your body cannot use the calcium it gets unless it has magnesium along with it. I hear more and more about people with these awful persistent headaches.

Hi KrauseHome. My ex sister in law had migraines for years then one day she went to another doctor and he did some test on her to see what she was allergic to. That was the whole reason she had the migraines. She was allergic to chocolate she stopped eating chocolate and the migraines stopped. My prayers are with you I hope and pray that the doctor can help you.

Well, for now they are just going to try having me take a certain medication that is supposed to help with having less migraines, and see if it helps any, and then go from there. Luckily I was able to try Relepax which has seemed to work and help a lot, and so I have not been having them like I used too. Actually have only had one in the last 3 weeks or so which is nice.

Preventive Medicines for Migraine
Medicines that are more commonly associated with treatment of other conditions, such as depression, high blood pressure or convulsions, are now being used to prevent migraines. some examples of medicine used to prevent migraines include amitriptyline, pizotifen (sandomigran), propranolo (e.g inderal), sodium valproate and topiramte (e.g topamax, epiramx). this type of preventive medicine is useally taken everyday and is useful for people who have frequent, severe migraines or who have a conditions that prevents them from taking any of the migraine treatment medicines.
and the other treatment for preventing migraines, other treatment that may be useful in preventing migraines include acupuncture, cognitive behavioral therapy ( a type of psychological therapy), relaxation exercises and stress management training. cutting down on your caffeine intake may also help prevent migraines.

The neurologist I seen suggested my trying Topamax for a bit, and see what happens with it. I know that Relepax has helped a lot once I get one so interested to give this a try and see what happens.

I wish you luck. Decades of neurologists and tests have done nothing for me, but you never know what can happen. Have you ever tried Zomig? I used to take it before Medicaid quit covering it. It didn't always work, but sometimes it did.

Personally for me, I was finally given Relepax as someone who is a Friend on Facebook suggest I try this, and it has been a Big help for me. I was really starting to get tired of trying anything that was out there just to find something that would work for me. The only issue is that my Insurance only pays for 4 at a time so I have to make sure I remember to get some each time before I run out. But they are helping so it has been a plus for sure.

We had a young lady, when I went to school, who was suffering from migrains. Nothing helped. So she went on an elimination diet and couldn't find a food that caused the problem. Then one of the female janitors brought her well water. It turned out to be the college's cholinated water, the choline was causing the problem.
Also people are now finding that the acid rain in their water in some places is causing problems.
So basically, try to figure out if it could be something you're eating or drinking.
I hope you find out soon, this must be very disrupting to your life and I know you need this job. Good luck and I hope something someone says here helps you.

I have never had a migraine, but I have had regular headaches and I can imagine how much it would hurt and disrupt your day. The only thing that seemed to help the people I knew that had them, was to be in a dark, quiet spot. One woman I worked with used to wear sunglasses in the office to make it dimmer. They also wrapped a warm, wet rag around their head. I know how frustrating it can be to have something wrong, but none of the "experts" can fix it. There has been something wrong with me for at least 15 years.

I think you have sinus problem. So take the hot water stream and if possible add some medicine which sure headache like vix and take the stream though your nose then if something will melt and will fall from your nose i am sure then you will feel batter.
So good luck friend!

I don't know what to say for you. Hopefully that neurologist figures out what is wrong and gets it straightened up so you don't have to suffer anymore. When things like that happen it can be scary. Hopefully nothing is seriously wrong.

Like you, i also suffer on and off headaches and most of the time it affects my work. I couldn't focus on my work and the pain just slows me down.
I was advised to drink lots and lots of water, get some sleep in a quiet room. There should be no distraction. Sometimes too much light aggravate the pain so I always have to put my lights off and put a pillow on my face.. :-)
