http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42519951/ns/politics-more_politics/ Cutting to the chase: birtherism is somewhere between ridiculous and fraudulent, and Trump looks like a fool trying to bring it up again -- no offense to fools. "It is real, and no amount of saying it is not, is going to change that," [Former Director] Fukino said. Moreover, she added, her boss at the time, [Governor] Lingle — who was backing John McCain for president — would presumably have to be in on any cover up since Fukino made her public comment at the governor's office's request. "Why would a Republican governor — who was stumping for the other guy — hold out on a big secret?" she asked. Insert standard birtherism here: "but where's the birth certificate?" the shorter, computer generated "certification of live birth" that was obtained by the Obama campaign in 2007 and has since been publicly released is the standard document that anybody requesting their birth certificate from the state of Hawaii would receive from the health department. Insert standard birtherism here: "So how come no one can corroborate it?" Actually, they can. Joshua Wisch, a spokesman for the Hawaii attorney general's office, noted that a public index of vital records, available for inspection in a bound volume at the Health Department's Office of Health Status Monitoring, lists a male child named "Obama II, Barack Hussein" as having been born in the state. Actually, it was in the news. The Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961, and the Honolulu Star Bulletin, on Aug. 14, 1961, both ran birth announcements listing Obama's birth on Aug. 4 of that year. Insert standard birtherism here: "But he could have settled this all by releasing the long form!" Actually, Hawaii state law says he can't. state law does not in fact permit the release of "vital records," including an original "record of live birth" — even to the individual whose birth it records. "It's a Department of Health record and it can't be released to anybody," [Mr. Wisch] said. Nor do state laws have any provision that authorizes such records to be photocopied, Wisch said. If Obama wanted to personally visit the state health department, he would be permitted to inspect his birth record, Wisch said. Bottom line? Don't get into any real estate deals with a birther.

" I find that very confusing, because Miki Booth has just released a copy of a long form birth certificate that was obtained in March 2011 from the Hawaii dept of Health for a fee of $10.00. http://www.thepostemail.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/205497_1646821495774_1394022018_31363733_2189254_n.jpg I find this confusing, too: “I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school,” - Page 26 of “Dreams of My Father” by Barack Obama He had his birth certificate back in the 70s, in the same apartment his grandmother continued to live in all along but in 2007 he got a Certification of Live Birth instead to release. Where's the birth certificate? Barack has it, always has. The most confusing thing is that if you think this is such a ridiculous issue that only fringe crazies would be interested in, then why do you Obama supporters spend so much time trying to discredit people that you are sure everyone knows are not creditable? Who tries to point out the clown at the circus has a funny face? If there's nothing to it, why are you so worried about it?

and today's prize for stating the glaringly obvious goes to the former director of Hawaii's department of health. i can't believe this Konspiracy is *still* going. it was funny to start with, mildly. now it is about the dullest konspiracy in the whole history of konspiracies. i prefer MY silly konspiracies to contain aliens, elvis and, ideally, dragons.

I agree that it is a waste of time and that he probably was born in HI. It is just like a person walking out of a Bank Robbery and when asked to stop starts to run. Why is Obama spending millions on defending it when he could simply ignore the issue and let the Court rule on the HI Law and settle the issue?

He's fighting it because he wants birthers to have just enough to keep making it an issue. The longer they stick around, the more the media reports on it, and the more he gets to frame other republicans like John Boehner as part of it (even though he said in no uncertain terms that he believes Obama was born in Hawaii).

The democrats insisted that John McCain summit proof of his American citizenship.John McCain submitted his citizenship records with out delay proud to be born an American.Obama on record has said people that have nothing to hide do not hide things. What is silly about this whole thing is Obama has concealed from the American people his record of citizenship and other very important documents.
