I just read this on a weight loss ad and it made my heart sink. Is there anyone out there who Really feel this way?G-d I hope not. True you may not feel comfortable in a string bikini but summer is for everyone! Just thinking that Anyone is not enjoying the season because of their size is tragic. your thoughts.

No this is not true. How can a season just be for skinny people? It's not like we were bikini's everywhere anyway. Maybe the beach is for skinny people but not summer!

That's wrong too. fat people have rights too. If all of a sudden Only thin people get to beach, then all the rest will be jailed if they go to the beach?

Yup! The skinny people can have Summer! As long as they all cease to exist when the other 3 seasons roll in! I think this is just another example of a marketing executive overthinking their product. That in highlighting one particular season, they've inadvertently managed to alienate the rest of the 'real' people in the world.

Ouch! I agree. The Suits went overboard with this one.

You would be surprised how many women think this way. They think if they are not a size 6 or lower, they don't matter.

I agree to some extent. I have spent my entire life being overweight, and the summer makes me somewhat uncomfortable because I have to wear clothes that cover my body, and this can mean that I look different to everybody else and I am hot and bothered. I have started losing weight this year though, and I have lost 51lbs since October, and am now no longer obese. I am however still around 4 stones from my "ideal" weight, but just losing this amount means that I can wear some things that I would never even have been considering this time last year.

Lane Bryant - Lane Bryant Summer Sale
Brava It's a start! And no you shouldn't have to wear something to cover All of you. There are great fashions these days for us large girls. Here in the States there is Lane Bryant,. their fashions are geared to the larger woman. And one can wear something to keep cool and be covered at the same time.

I have a tendency to get uncomfortable wearing a a bikini anyway, so I avoid them even though I am average size. I think that everyone should be able to enjoy summer and have fun regardless of size or looks. They always say, "Don't judge a book by its cover," and that applies to people, too!

I'm plus size and I still enjoy summer. Granted I don't swim anymore so I don't need a bathing suit. I wear short shorts and a tank top when I go to the beach.

I was raised very conservatively, and my size is not exactly the tiniest in the world, but I'm not heavy either. i could probably stand to lose 15-20 lbs. That, however, doesn't mean I don't enjoy summer. On the contrary, actually, I love summer. I love being able to go have fun with my friends and not have them judge me based solely on my looks. I love being able to sit around a fire at night making s'mores. Sumer is not for skinny people. Summer is for everyone, and size should not matter. Besides, if you are not comfortable wearing a string bikini there are plenty of other style out there that can flatter your body without making you feel self-conscious.

If I saw an add like that, I'd report them to the CRTC, or whatever the US equivilient is. There has got to be a place to report this kind of stupid judgement. I am not skinny, but I enjoy summer as much as the next person. I can't believe the $h!t that passes for advertizing. I wonder how much business they're going to lose because of this.

I think it is so crule to say that the summer just belongs to the skinny people. We shall not laugh at people's figure. A fat person doesn't mean anything and of course it won't show that he/she is a bad person. Everybody shall enjoy the summer. I love China

How sad. So she just stays in because she Thinks she is too fat? Wow! I have always been round . I never compare myself to others though. I guess it is a by product of being one of the guys as a girl and teen. how sad for your sis.

Isn't it amazing how focused we are as a society on how we look when what is really important is who we are on the inside, not the outside? I couldn't agree with you more. If I waited to lose the 5-10 lbs. that I've always had to lose, I would have spent most of my life inside! If you have to wear a string bikini to enjoy the beach, then ytour problems go way beyond what could be addressed on My Lot!

There is no such thing as an exception either how big or small you are summer is for everyone to enjoy. Why would they care if you can't don a string bikini then wear a comfortable one.

Because they are being taught that beauty is the Only thing that matters.and that a size 0 is beautiful and a size 6 or larger isn't. You and I both know that's wrong but they don't know it. So they feel lower than low if they can't lose weight to be a size 0 or worse of the worse, they gain 5 pounds. so they try and try to be " perfect" not knowing that their true Mate Se them as perfect Already. Sad isn't it?

I would hope no one is hiding at home for this and or any reason. Gee there is a life to live and who cares what anyone thinks what anyone looks like. I will be going to Arkansas next month, and we do lots of swimming. Many of the women in my boyfriend side are big girls and NO ONE, makes fun of them. We row boat, swim and snorkel. Though none of them wear bikinis they do wear swim suits. We have such a good time while there and would not like to hear any of them say they can't go along because they are not thin. On the contrary as soon as we get there, lots of them have lots of plans geared and ready for all of us to enjoy.

I'm a summer person and don't let my size hold me back. i do get self-conscious in abathing suit but did get one this summer. I like taking my daughter to the splashpads at the parks here to run through the sprinklers and I tend to get in with her sometimes. I think this summer I will take her to the pool. Magazines like that are so wrong to publish things like that. Those kind of articles is why some girls have eating disorders like anorexia and/or bulimic.

Summer is for everyone to enjoy, but we all know that is not what happens, especially for girls. Ok, there are a few girls that don't care about how much they weight and go to the beach happy as it is. Most of the girls don't like their body, but they go to beach the same way, even if they have to wear a bigger size bikini. But I know there are a considerable amount of girls that don't go to the beach or to the pool no matter what, because they think that they are too fat (most of cases that's not true), they don't even wear shorts or skirts. It's tragic, but it's understandable because we live in a society that appears that only skinny girls matter.

And what is sad is that the love of their life Likes the size they are now. But because they assume that All men, or if they are gay , all women, want thin girls. Wrong! It is so sad.

Summer is for everyone and those who criticise or laugh at overweight people who love the sun, should re-think their kindness levels. It's really none of their business how thin or fat anyone else is. Just go ahead, enjoy the summer and ignore the critics.

Summer is for everyone and it is a shame that there are those that can't enjoy it because of the way they are made to feel about themselves.

hihihi.. i myself am fat but i have never really thought of it that way,, if i was the one reading the article, i would just say "pffft, hu cares". i mean i can still enjoy summer even with bodies covered. maybe i will just feel bad knowing that some people actually thinks that way right? i hope others like me will not believe them.
