I have been sick for a week now - flu. It is a combination of colds, sore throat, fever and cough. I had to make a sick leave from work as well as my writing gigs. This has been my longest days of suffering from flu. According to my doctor, it was due to the weather change, insufficient sleep and over worked. So, she advised me to have sufficient sleep and rest, but she noted more on not working and I had to sigh when hearing it. I missed working, though I have to conform with the advice for my total recover. I must say, now that I am sick because of those usual factors, I realized again that why am I so stubborn that I never care of my health sometimes. I am so focused with work and that I forget I am already sleep inadequacy. Now, I want to regulate my sleeping habits and make adjustments with my work load.

The past few months, I was suffering from eczema flare-ups; wondering why my skin was violated that I can no longer walk straight. I realized that it was due to lack of sleep because I've been very busy doing my work in the field. But when I stopped and take a rest to heal it by taking enough sleep and avoiding too much walk and stress, my condition was lighten... It was all due to insufficient sleep.

Hi adeena! Sleep is very much indispensable which we always take for granted. Due to insufficient of sleep, we suffer from different kinds of diseases. Yes, your illness was caused by stress, but your stress was a result of your lack of sleep. Same with mine, I was overworked and often forgets to have power naps and stays up late. Indeed, we only realize the importance after.

Yes, of course maean, we must have at least 8 hours of sleep everyday. So, what for we work?, just to have a peaceful life. So, only if we live healthy, we can lead a peaceful life. Else, we cannot. So, take rest and then work. Don't get to have a big work load.

I really missed you Maean you know when you told me you were sick that was like a week ago. but having this illness still today worries me. maybe you should really rest, even stop mylotting until you get cured. i think that is serious if you don't get enough sleep, because food and medication won't work if you don't rest.

Hi LK! Thanks for the concern my dear. Yeah, I missed everyone here too including you. Never been around for quite some time and then just logged in here to post about my situation. It all started with a sore throat during the holiday and still feeling fine then. However, when Wednesday dawn came, I started chilling with fever. Yes, it was all due to my overworking and lack of sleep and to add our weather changing from hot to cold. I hate the sudden changes. No worries my friend, am feeling better now. But as you have said, I have to take some rest. I am trying not to load myself with too much work for now and take more time to have a body and mind rest. Thanks again!

When we don't get enough sleep our bodies immune system doesn't work properly and thus we get sick. If you do get sick the best thing to do is just sleep. While we are sleeping our bodies repair themselves. So if you are sick-go to bed, and try to get enough sleep in the future.

Hi maean_19, no matter how much nutritious food we have taken, and drinking enough healthy water, doing physical exercise regularly we still would feel unwell and would get sick easily. This means that our immune system is weak on account of lacking of sufficient sleep. It's saying that the best bedtime is from 11pm until the following morning. And how many hours of sleep is considered to be sufficient. This depends on personal need. As what I know 11pm to 3pm is the moment for our organs, gallbladder and liver to expel of toxin. Though I know this very well I still would stay up late most of the time for indulging in certain favorite interests like watching movie, surfing net, playing game, etc No wonder we always mention Said Is Easier Than Done. Anyway for the sake of living a healthy an happy life I still would try to go to bed around 11pm There is countless of heavy load to deal with everyday. It's impossible to accomplish them all as new ones would pop up then. Having sufficient rest will enable us to move our pace further. I hope you will spend more time to have proper rest so that you are healthy enough to cope with your busy schedule. Happy posting and have a nice day.

Sleep seems to make everything better. I know my mood is better when I am well rested. I work better when I am well rested too.

Health is wealth as an adage goes. And for one to be healthy , he should be eating healthy foods, exercise and most of all get enough sleep. From what you narrated you are overfatigued and lacks sleep. That's why your immune system plunged so you got sick. Just follow what your doctor told you and in no time you will be well again. However, from then on see to it that you don't overwork and have enough number of sleep.

Enough sleep is very important especially to hardworking individuals. Your immunse system weakens when you have lack of sleep. Your right! You now need to make adjustments so that you will end up sleeping the required number of hours which is 8-9hours. Also, take some vitamin C, it will help boost you immune system. Get well!

Hi, maean. Sleep is the most important for me since it is the time where all part of our body system is on the relax mode. Latly, I only sleep 4-5 hours a day from my 8-9 hours before. I really need to get some decent sleep starting tomorrow or I will forever look tired and restless.

We should give our body adequate rest to gain maximum strength. Lack of sleep will only add more problems to our health and not forgetting inviting unnecessary sickness that may add up to more miseries in life.

You are quite right. The sufficient sleep is so important for our health. If we don't have enough sleep, then we will become weak and therefore we will be sick sometimes. Here we have a saying: Taking a rest to go further. This is why we need a break and holiday. I love China

I wouldn't say that not sleeping makes us ill, but it means that our immune systems can't work as well as they should, therefore making it more likely that we become ill. Sleep is important for many reasons, not just for physical health but also our mental health can suffer too if we do not get the amount of sleep that we are supposed to get. It has been proven time and time again that the amount of sleep we get is directly correlated with scores in tests; however be careful because sleeping too much might have a negative effect as well, so it's important to ensure that you get that balance just right.
