Are you comfortable working with a desktop or laptop?

I was working on my laptop last night in my bed; while I was typing, I don't feel comfortable on working with my laptop though. First of all, probably the arrangement of the keyboard with all the keys, I simply made too many typing errors, and I couldn't type fast. Second of all, probably I am not comfortable without a mouse or something like that, I feel like moving around the panel just too hard for me. Finally, I feel like a laptop only for browsing or random chatting for me. What do you think? Do you like to work on your desktop or laptop? I prefer desktop.

I recognise the issues you are referring too. I do too prefer having a regular mouse to use rather than a mousepad, especially playing games this is a issue. The mouse issue can be resolved because you can attach a mouse to your laptop but this is not always convenient. Also the typing, I do too make a lot of mistakes but I guess this is just a matter of getting used to the keyboard. I still prefer a laptop. It is easy to take with you. Sitting in the garden while on internet and in bed, you can take it anywhere. The greatest advantage of a desktop is your seating position, while using a laptop you kind of bend more and this is not so good for your back, however a laptopstand could prevent this.

I have both. I use my laptop only if I'm outside. Obviously i cant bring my desktop computer out. I prefer the desktop because personally i think that its more comfortable to work with. The button of the keyboards are easier to press compared to laptops and they don't make that much noise. Being without a mouse can be really annoying to me as well. you have to keep dragging your finger on the pad and just because the laptop is hot it makes my finger sweat. But also the desktop is actually much faster because compared to laptop's, you have more ram, a better fan, almost every thing is better in a desktop computer. But again, Its big and isn't as convenient to bring out of home.

I can use either one actually. I used to have a desktop and a laptop, but I had to leave the desktop behind when I moved, so I only have the laptop now. I like the portability the laptop provides. I can take it anywhere I want to use it, and I can sit here in my recliner chair and work on what I need to work on without having to sit at a desk the way I would with a desktop. I am not saying that I will never buy another desktop computer, but I prefer laptop computers for most applications.

I hope this kind of discussion doesn't appear too many times. Chances are there will be more that talking about about this topic more and more. I started having a netbook (smaller laptop) that is designed for small online activity. Netbooks are typically meant for checking e-mail, doing few research online, taking notes, doing homework, etc. So, it's good enough for students and people that don't care much about internet in general. I have been using it to blog, do researches on contents, and chatting. Playing videos works, but it's generally not recommended. When I try to play HD videos, it hasn't been great. I just settle with lesser quality. I personally prefer desktops because I like multimedia stuffs. When I save enough money, I'd like to get a nice one. Sometimes, you need both. Laptop is good for portability and convenience. You can take it anywhere with you. Desktops is helpful when you want to see pictures/photos and contents better as long as you have larger monitor.

Don't use the laptop on the bed too long i.e. like chatting or doing some other things or works that takes too long. It is best is to have the laptop on a desk and sitting on a comfortable chair. And to avoid cramps as well also. You can have a normal keyboard attached on the laptop and if you want a large LCD screen display. Well, I'm comfortable with a desktop computer. Because I'm using the computer too long. Desktop computers has more processing power to finish my work done like video, graphic editing and much more.

I prefer to use a laptop than a desk top computer. To use a computer I have to sit up at a desk. To use my laptop I can sit wherever I like. I like to have a screen of around 15 to 17 inches. I do also have a net book but I find its 10 inch screen challenging. I used to use a mouse with my old computer. I was so happy when I got my first laptop. I took to using its touch pad straight away.

I have only had a laptop for so long that I forget what it was like to work on a desktop. My keyboard is almost the same as a desktop keyboard, and I have always hated using a mouse because most of the ones I had in the past didn't work well. I do sometimes have problems with typing, but I think it was more related to "chemo brain" than with the keyboard. I like my laptop because I can use it anywhere and don't have to be sitting at a desk to use it. My bed is much more comfortable to me.

Laptops can be quite uncomfortable especially if it is on a desk looking down at it for prolonged periods can give you neckache. My mums worrkcomputer is a laptop and she kept getting neck and back ache so she connected it to a monitor which she moved higher to a more comfartable level she tried to get a desktop but her company wouldnt provide her with one and she couldnt put her company programmes on a desktop of her own.

I can work on either one at speed and accuracy.... however I'm a big time computer nerd who had typing courses in school. I'm as nerdy and pathetic as it gets, so I can do either way. That said, I do prefer a desktop. I love my full size keyboard.

Hello, If you want type speedly and accurate than I suggest you to use desktop. You can add mouse as well as keyboard in laptop. But it is not possible in the bed. At present I am also using laptop. If I want do some typing job than it hard one for me.For typing work desktop is best one.

I would choose laptop because I like to switch from one place to another. Therefore I am more comfortable with laptop rather than desktop.Sitting in one place for a long time do make me feel uncomfortable.(^^)

desktop is far better for me than a laptop. I use a high bandwidth range from abot 2 gigs to 10 gigs a day....so my lan connected internet makes dat possible but where i live wireless internet is impossible to handle that much of bandwidth. And the bandwidth is must for my work...so a desktop.......

I have a desktop and always have. Probably always will. The few times ive used a laptop it was weird because of no mouse. The little square that subs for the mouse is just not as easy to use. However ive seen some people using laptops with a mouse. My son works on computers alot and considers laptops as disposable. So i dont understand why they are so expensive.

I've yet to have the opportunity to use a laptop but given my need for glasses when using the desktop with its larger screen I'd think that the desktop would be preferable..Enjoy!

I don't have a laptop so I am used to a desktop PC. I visited a friend a few months ago and used her laptop. I didn't like it as much because of some of the things you said. I just couldn't get used to not having a mouse! It was only temporary, but I had thought about getting a laptop instead of a desktop and now I am glad I didn't. Of course if I had I would have probably been used to it, but I am still glad I didn't.

I prefer laptop because I'm mobile. I'm also not used with not having a mouse so I use a wireless mouse with my laptop.

For me anything is fine but since I have been using a laptop for many years now, I am comfortable with laptops. But still, when I o to libraries, I use the desktops there and it feels comfortable too so I guess I'm fine with both of them.

I prefer a laptop than a desktop. Laptop being smaller and you can bring it anywhere you want. Also, electricity cost is cheaper in laptop than a desktop, not to mention the effect to the eyes of using a computer for a long period of time. I am also not comfortable without a mouse, so I just connect a wireless mouse for easy navigation
