Atlast the current has came now after 14 hours. It was too frustrating last night as the electric power gone for sudden reasons. When I called the officers, they told some work is going on and it will be alright soon ! What more we dont have any invertors or generators for temporary power supply. Whole night without power is too horrible.I cannot even switch my phone on as it has gone out of battery. What more I missed mylotting due to these power cutters.Anyway as it was raining,I dont felt too difficult to sleep, but the mosquities were in business.Thank god,it was not summer here ! What do you feel during sudden power cuts through the whole night?Whether the current in your goes out of order more frequently or not?

I hate it when that happens. It used to happen alot to us here. We bought us a generator to use if the power ever goes out again. It runs on gas and will run your electric in your home until the power comes back on.

We dont have a generator in our house till now.I think the houses in my region are not using any of this kind. But some of them are using an invertor, which is used to blow 2 or 3 tubes and a tv.

The other day I also had a power cut for 12 hours at home. It was so frustrating - early in the morning you couldn't see anything because there were no lights and then for the whole day there were so many things that I couldn't do - we couldn't cook our dinner, the fridge defrosted and there was water all over the floor, we couldn't vacuum the house and of course there was no internet for myLotting! Its amazing how dependant we actually are on electricity - it is at times like this that I just think about all the people in the world who don't have any electricity at all, and realise just how difficult life must be for them.

Yeah,we all are so much dependent up on the electricity.Life without it is so much hard. Each and every thing we do is depended upon the electricity either directly or indirectly. We cant cook our food as we cant use grinder, however induction cooker can be replaced by gas stoves. We cant use the television. We becomes fully freezed without nothing to do except looking the bulbs and tubes to watch whether current comes back or not.

Wow, this has never happened to me - the power is usually back on within a few days. An entire night I would worry about the food in my fridge, etc.

I have experienced something similar before. I remember one winter there was a massive blizzard, which damaged power lines in multiple places. Because of huge amount of snow that has fallen on the ground, the repair services were not able to access the damaged links quickly and the power was off for the whole evening and the current returned at noon on next day. I remember the whole parish I live in was dark and I called my friend. We went out on a adventure in the dark. The only light sources were car lights. I remember we helped to free the cars that got stuck in the snow on the highway. Although the power was off for a very long time, I still had fun outside. Luckily I don't experience such power shortages very often. And if a power company is about to conduct some service work which needs turning the power off, they usually notify all the people who will be affected.

Power cut is a common word heard in towns of India.Every time it rains there is a power cut.sometimes even for 24 hours. It is really annoying. Many time power cut happen in our town.I remember once there was a 3 day power cut.during power cuts in night it is mosquitos who rule.Becuase of them we cant even sleep properly.I call them un easy nights. During long hours of power cut even inverters dont come handy.Because there effeciency will be only of 4 hours.

I know I don't live in India, but I've had my share of blackouts as a child. I remember about two summers ago, it was my last day of school and I came home from school that afternoon. The day was pretty warm and muggy. I thought it was because summer was coming up but it was signifying a storm. Later that afternoon into the evening hours, there was a bad thunderstorm that happened. It turned out it was because there was a tornado in a town nearby called Dundalk here in Baltimore. The power at first flickered then came back on. But then, it finally went out at around 5:30 EST. It was out for about 7 hours and 15 minutes. I was so glad when the power came back on even though it was late and the storm had well passed us by then.

Every now and again there are power cuts but rarely for that many hours. After that much time I would start worrying about things like the fridge defrosting. It seems worse when power goes off at night, especially when making dinner or eating it, as during the day it is possible to go out, do things that do not require electricity. It is amazing when we realize how dependent we are on electricity. I realized a while back when they were upgrading the system (they warned us though) and there were quite a few power cuts how much we depend on electricity, mainly for cooking. Fortunately I have alternatives (gas stove) for emergencies, flash lights and candles. In cities there is no true dark night because of street lights, so when that light disappears that is what is most noticeable - how dark the night is.

Only 14 hours? That isn't too bad..LOL..We don't usually have power outages due to work being done, but from storms that come through and knock out the transformer. It is typically only an hour or two that we loss power, but a few years ago, we got hit by the remnants of this hurricane and people lost power anywhere from a few hours to over a week..Fortunately we only lost ours for 4 days. The worse part was no how water for showers, so we had to go into town to clean up. But since it was September, not too hot and not too cold, it was perfect for our daily cookouts and play time outside. Even at night, we had our flashlights so we could read before going to bed..It wasn't too bad, but it's not something I want to experience again...

If the power failure comes at night when the weather is hot, it would really be a big problem. Certainly I can't sleep all night without aircon. I would be sweating in my bed and that is so uncomfortable. If I would just get up and go up to terrace on our rooftop to get natural and fresh air there would be another problem. I'd be fighting against mosquitoes every now and then. So it is really very inconvenient to have a power failure during the night. I'd rather have it during the day because at least I have options to just go out and spend my day shopping or any other outdoor activities.

We have had several power surges lately but they only last a few minutes and then the power is right back on. Last week during a storm we had power outage for over 4 hours. It was bad due to the heat and the AC being off. I can deal with it as long as it is not too hot or too cold.

That is terrible I think I would have a very difficult night if there is no power the whole night. The nights are more often than not really warm and, yes, there are a lot of mosquitoes too. We often have power cuts but thank god it has not lasted the whole night yet. But an hour or two without power is already terrible for me.

Oh my, that's too long if they say it will be alright soon but the problem is they didn't mention any time frame to have it fixed. It's ok if there is really a big problem like post fell down or something due to typhoon but for a minor problem it's not good. Yes, we do experienced the same problem in our place but they see to it that it will be cut off during day time but at night time it's really hard.
